Listen, I respect your draft talk and don't disagree with how people play the draft. Nothing you said contradicts what I think regarding the draft. Get the analytical stuff as my job required/s it also. My comment on "all we heard pre-draft" was specific to "win now." Jerry has brought up "Win now" and it has nothing to do with how players fall, etc. It is a basic tenet that we need players to help during a window where Romo is healthy. Elliott was "win now." Jaylon is not. Prescott is not. A basketball TE is not. A RB that will be 4th on depth chart and maybe on practice squad is not. That's the issue. We didn't allocate resources in the draft to "win now." The fact that Jerry has spoken about how he missed...twice...to move up for backup QBs is not "win now." We didn't just need starters on D, we needed depth. There were players in the 2nd, and even 5th and 6th that were good LBs, DTs, etc in college. We went on a drunk fantasy binge and threw out "flyers." They could all work some how but it is against the philosophy that Jerry has espoused for a long time....get players to help Romo and the core now.

Houston I read what you just wrote and I can feel the passion in it and I also now know what you are saying. Your are not happy because this draft isn't all in and I get it. But read the article today by Todd Archer and you will see where Jerry thinks differently then you.

But the "win now" players they were interested in went off the board, Ogbah & Dodd. Jaylon Smith was their only 1st round grade left on the board.

A lot of this article is why I liked the EE pick. Many other things written is why I find JJ sometimes delusional and all over the map. He mentioned win now a lot and yet in the same breath thinks we are close with what we have and that Romo has 5 years. I like aggressive. But not sure when you are this high in the draft...especially quality picks in 2-4..why you wouldn't get help now in Rd 2

As I've said, I think Smith...and even if they went Jack...are studs. The idea to get a guy like that doesn't bother me if we had a team closer to the 90s teams and heck even maybe 2010 or so where we had starters in their prime. But we don't, despite what Jerry says about being closer to 2014. Even with the two DEs gone I think there has to be a better Plan C.....Chris Jones, Noah Spence(character concern), etc....also trade back. It is why, despite my love for EE, that a Ramsey then Henry type pick was a better use of resources. Just my opinion. I know Jerry likes to go big and the thought of Smith next year is great but its also a big "if"

Both Chris Jones, Jack, Spence are high risk players as well. Jones is inconsistent boom or bust type and at his size he's likely a 1T where they already signed Thornton. Maliek Collins who they got in the third seems much more the type of DT Marinelli covets. I would think he would prefer Collins over Jones anyway.

You are probably right on that since I think I just read they were paying attention to Collins and had Lett work him out pre-draft. Just examples. As I said my preference was Ramsey and O in second....and again, I have no issue with EE and what he brings. Hope Jaylon recovers and we struck gold. Just preferred some depth now.
