I got to be honest here I turned on lawman bass reeves when the zebras called that PI on Gilmore

I knew it wasn’t gonna end well but I guess the cowboys put on a show the last 7 minutes only to find a way to lose?

I read @Bobhaze post and ivthi k that exemplifies the team

Some are gonna blame the qb , some the defense, some the coach I blame the culture from top to bottom

I hadn’t penciled this game as a W in fact I figured they’d lose a close one and I figured the line would let us down and I was partially correct

Anyway I know I’m over it I see the cowboys winning the next 3 and could be in ok position to steal one in the gauntlet at the end of the season

Or they won’t either way it’s entertainment and I’m just not getting excited about it
I agree. I figured this was going to be an L too, especially not long after the Niners debacle. I was just hoping they would show up, play hard and make it a game - and they definitely did that. I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed watching this game.
You are so right - that PI call on Gilmore was unreal. I still can't believe a veteran like Gilmore with his rep and level of success in this league gets a call again him like that on a ball that was clearly uncatchable anyway. That whole second scoring drive of the 2nd half, the Refs may as well have just dragged the IGGLES into the End Zone themselves for the TD - that was pathetic. The Dallas D should have just walked off the field and let them have the TD, it was obvious that the Refs were going to make sure that drive ended in the End Zone.
Im like you - I expected a loss, so just very happy they showed up and played as hard as they did and provided one helluva entertaining game to watch.

this was a monster loss.
Relax man. This was a house money game in their house.

Would winning have been great? Absolutely.

They have a bye week, @ Chiefs, Buffalo, San Francisco, @ Dallas. They will lose one of those games and be 10-2/9-3.

Dallas plays New York with Tommy DiVito at QB, @ Carolina, Washington and Philly. We will be 9-3/8-4 going into the Philly game.

We can easily be in first place after that game.

The reason we end up in the wild card is we end with 5-4 Buffalo (playoff team), 6-3 Miami (playoff team), 6-2 Detroit (playoff team) and 4-5 Washington (fringe playoff team). They end up with 5-3 Seattle (playoff team) then NY who is awful twice with the awful cardinals sandwiched in between.

They likely edge us out by 2 games

1st and goal from the 6 and 27 seconds left.

No way Prescott can take that sack, that's a rookie type mistake. If there's pressure or nobody is open you have to throw it away.

You need 4 passes from the 6 yard line!

And the refs gave us a shot on the final drive. And unlike the better team we shot ourselves in the foot. The cowboys way under jerrah

The O line looked like trash all game long. Not only did the pass protection fail when it counted, the running game was yet again vacant. Surprised it was that close.

Our o line was so bad in the run game our run game was -37 yards than expected. Worst for a team since 2021

Exactly, when provided with that opportunity they totally shot themselves in the foot - repeatedly. False starts, delay of games, taking sacks, goofy clock management and having a RT out there that is clearly not up to par from his surgery. Any one of those can kill you in a close game like that- muchness everyone of them happening. Same old undisciplined Cowboys, you can always count on that to prevent a W

Same story for every team after 1996

10 Things I Think I Think

...per Next Gen Stats. Dallas win probability, with 27 seconds left at the Eagles’ six with no timeouts left: 48.6 percent.
48.6%? I would have thought the odds were higher, perhaps in the 75% range.

In the moment, I ran multiple scenarios through my head of the unlikely chance of the team losing:
  • Two runs stuffed and two overthrown passes
  • Three straight sacks and a pass deflection
  • Four straight drops even (we did have several drops during the game and it carried over into my angst)
  • A sack and a defensive fumble recovery during one of the four attempts
  • A rushing fumble (not Prescott) and recovery by the defense
  • An interception during one of the four downs
Then I dismissed them all and went 100% fan hoping for good execution, win or lose. What actually happened next was definitely not what I expected.

they might drop 3 of those games. The Eagles. The question is , which 3? We mustn't have any further losses til we get to philly again. There is a scenario where they sweep us but still don't win the division.

10 Things I Think I Think

1. I think the way the Cowboys lost Sunday is going to leave a mark. Down five, 46 seconds left at arch-rival Philadelphia. Four plays and three big penalties on the Eagles bring Dallas to the Philly six-yard line with 26 seconds left. Eighty yards! To the verge of victory against the best team in the game! Dallas win probability with 46 seconds left: 3.7 percent, per Next Gen Stats. Dallas win probability, with 27 seconds left at the Eagles’ six with no timeouts left: 48.6 percent. A coin flip, basically. Then false start, sack, incomplete, delay of game, pass short of the end zone, end of game. Yikes.
2.
I think kudos go to the Eagles, to be sure. But to be great, you’ve got to make great plays in big moments. The Cowboys just don’t do that.
this is on the coaches. players get anxious and react...thus the false start. then they panic and miss and a sack..... Parcells used to practive 2 minute, 1 minute offense so players get used to the pace, the pressure, the chaos. we obviously didn't.

Elite QBs don’t melt under pressure. Dak lost his poise when it was time to win the game. Philly practically begged us to take the game and we couldn’t accept. Dak is a good QB but he needs to play better in the big moments to be elite.
Herbert melts...Allen melts..... I see it often. We been told Herbert and Allen are elite and they lose key games. Allen just lost last night. Does that make him not elite? Dak is elite and his numbers say it. But it would be nice if the team around him would help him by not getting flags.

As I said yesterday, you can fire the coaching staff today off of that scenario.
It was as if we sabotaged ourselves on purpose.
Pure Keystone cops stuff.

Most frustrating regular season loss as I can remember.

Refs.

Three fumbles, we recovered 0.

Schoon stopped just short because he was tackled with the ball in the air.

Dak stepping out on the 2 pt try.

False start then sack when it looked like we were going to rip the Eagles hearts out. In Philly. Man, would that have been sweet.

Feels like we were the better team but Philly was just way more clutch. Helps when the zebras are on your side too.
The Eagles were not clutch. They had no first downs in the 4th quarter, got away with several penalties, and did a cheeks fumble that I still can’t believe Micah didn’t recover. Just crazy.
