I feel this team is starting to gel actually. We haven't peaked yet but I think the Eagles have.
That may be the only probable silver lining taken from yesterday's game, although it may be microscopic in size. Execution and consistency have improved somewhat.

What I hope is that the team is gaining more group determination. It is what I have talked about continuously whenever the topic of gaining the number one seed for homefield advantage arises.

There have been notable examples of teams failing to get a top seed but have steeled themselves for a postseason run despite it. Dallas can be one of those teams if it fails to secure the top NFC playoff seed. Divisional games like yesterday's can be a setback but not a final deciding factor. It is up to the team to achieve that type of internal grit for making that happen though.

the flags killed us late. Then Dak held the ball and was sacked. That was ballgame. Heartbreaking as a fan. 27 years . This never gets any easier for me.
The flags also got DAL down the field on that last drive..."judgment call" flags. False start, delay of game & illegal formation are pretty obvious.

Dallas lost to the better team on the road.
But the Eagles had 3 fumbles they recovered. Dallas had 1 that was lost.
Dallas comes up a foot short Multiple times in the game.
Refs pick up an obvious hand to face call by the Eagles that lets a sack stand and the clock to run.
But it was only this close because you got a Pro Bowl level QB effort. 374 passing yards, 3 TDs, zero turnovers.
You most definitely are not getting that every week.

Dallas has to fix the RT position and find a running game of some sort as they move forward the second half of the season.
You get Philly again at home so all is far from lost.

And yes, Dallas needs to drill endlessly last second situations for timing.

You were a foot away from beating a Super Bowl team on the road. Nothing to cry about.
Go get better and handle the rest of this schedule.

Geez if it had been us with the lead.....and the Eagles had been trying to come from behind....and the refs threw 3 flags on US to move the ball all the way down close to the goal line....which is exactly what the refs did to the eagles.....this ace would be in an uproar.

Yet if u read the comments....the refs were just ignoring Philly and throwing a flag on us every play.

Most frustrating regular season loss as I can remember.

Refs.

Three fumbles, we recovered 0.

Schoon stopped just short because he was tackled with the ball in the air.

Dak stepping out on the 2 pt try.

False start then sack when it looked like we were going to rip the Eagles hearts out. In Philly. Man, would that have been sweet.

Feels like we were the better team but Philly was just way more clutch. Helps when the zebras are on your side too.
So glad I was not the only one who noticed during the 3+ replays of the goal line Schoon reception that the defender was tackling him before the ball got there. It's so surreal watching the replays and waiting for at least one of the stupid commentators to like "comment" on that.

Also, can someone tell me why Parson's almost never gets a holding call? The premiere pass-rusher in the league gets mugged by every offensive lineman sometimes multiple times a play, almost always right in front of the refs as he is literally 2 steps from the QB 75% of the time. I guess you just expect when you have someone like this the refs would take that into account and watch for that, since the other team would necessarily struggle against the talent difference. But, if you watch a lot of games, it's the same around much of the league - good pass rushers almost never get holding calls. Why have holding if you selectively don't call it?

Tackling a guy coming back to the football isn't a judgment call. That is a PI any ref would call.
Picking up a flag where America saw the hands to the face live and the announcer was like oh yea that's hand to the face was insane.
But game was tight throughout and calls become magnified, so the losing team is going to be mad.

10 Things I Think I Think

1. I think the way the Cowboys lost Sunday is going to leave a mark. Down five, 46 seconds left at arch-rival Philadelphia. Four plays and three big penalties on the Eagles bring Dallas to the Philly six-yard line with 26 seconds left. Eighty yards! To the verge of victory against the best team in the game! Dallas win probability with 46 seconds left: 3.7 percent, per Next Gen Stats. Dallas win probability, with 27 seconds left at the Eagles’ six with no timeouts left: 48.6 percent. A coin flip, basically. Then false start, sack, incomplete, delay of game, pass short of the end zone, end of game. Yikes.
2.
I think kudos go to the Eagles, to be sure. But to be great, you’ve got to make great plays in big moments. The Cowboys just don’t do that.
Great now everyone here is going to hate Peter King... that leaves us just Nick Wright who knows anything.

Weird game ............lots of opportunities but NOT ONE went our way. I'm confident if Daks continues to play like he did Sunday, we still have a real chance for a special season.

BTW.....how many dropped balls were there? I stop counting.....lol
We’ll get ‘em next time.

The motto of the Jerry Jones Cowboys. Always look competitive, but find a way to lose in big games vs real teams.

The zebras are not on anyones side... yes they are inconsistent. We beat ourselves. Filthy did their best to give us the game but your most accurate boy was not up to the task. Delay of game in the final 27 seconds just can not happen. Big moment to be had, and we faltered.

yes exactly. If Dak can do it...wow..we have a real chance. I thought he was elite yesterday and the week before.

Yeah thats the positive, this offense looks to have found itself and the QB has taken command. My biggest concern is the weak running game. We need to figure that out and not be so reliant on the passing game.

I have no doubt we will be in the mix until late. The 9ers and Eagles are my only real conference concerns, and I can't help but feel the better team lost yesterday.

The first thing you teach a QB in the red zone with no timeouts at the end of a half is don't hold the ball, especially on the first down.

There was no excuse not to get 4 plays off in that situation it is basic football, if you feel the rush chuck it out of the back of the endzone. It is the easiest place on the field to not get intentional grounding.

I get Dak was using his legs all game to make some big plays, but situational awareness needs to kick in and his head coach should have been telling him that in his mic.

Feels like they were so shocked to be there that Dak and Big Mike panicked.

I thought he blew it on the previous drive taking those sacks but Philly gave us the ball back and we just couldn’t close.
I watched the end of Texans game earlier and saw CJ Stroud march his team down the field in the final 45 seconds to win. I just don’t understand why Dak can’t be as poised as that rookie.
CJ Stroud is a generational talent. He goes through his progressions, doesn’t bail unnecessarily, hits WRs in stride in every part of the field.. has thrown only 1 INT Already broke “Dak’s record”, but unlike Dak in his rookie year, isn’t a checkdown Charlie game manager.

LOL, thinking 8 year Dak is on any level like CJ Stroud.. crazy..

BTW, he’s throwing to NOAH BROWN and DALTON SCHULTZ…

When a team continues to demonstrate that it's undisciplined, it's usually standard procedure to blame the head coach for allowing it. Perhaps Mike McCarthy needs to make the necessary adjustments to correct this ongoing problem. Being more assertive should tend to help things improve.

Stroud did it against the Buccaneers who y'all told me suck and had no business in the playoffs last year....but I guess they upgraded from Tom Brady to Baker Mayfield and are now good I guess lol. Buccs or Eagles...yeah I can see the comparison.

You consistently tell on yourself. First off Noah Brown and Dalton Schultz are not their best players. Introduce yourself to Tank Dell and Nico Collins. They are the real deal and the Texans have built a nice young team for Demeco. Once he gets his defense together......and Stroud looks legit. I can hype him up without downing Dak. I know that's hard for some of you.
