Curious how Peter King's Draft Nuggets compare to Buc-ee's Beaver Nuggets.

Call me crazy, but I’ve never been a fan of those.

his team isnt drafting anybody in the first round that doesnt have a starting spot waiting for them.
Bingo!!!! You be hard-pressed to find one of their first-round picks that didn't start on day one or at a min by mid-season. As a general rule, they target that pick to fill an opening starting spot as you said. The only exception is an elite top player unexpectedly drops.

Interesting..........

5. I think Jalen Carter could be drafted fifth or 25 and I wouldn’t be surprised.

6. I think if I were Howie Roseman, I’d draft Bijan Robinson 10th overall, break the Eagles’ mold of always fortifying the two lines, and say to the world: Okay, you all try to stop Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert and Bijan Robinson—I know you can’t.
If Carter comes anywhere close to 26...move up and get him Cowboys. Then tell the Eagles to stop the Dallas defense.

Peter King is a football fan, and knows less about the game than some guys on this forum. I have 0 respect for him. I have more respect for Spagnola.

When has a cb been drafted in round 1 as a potential back up? Any team. I'm curious
Daxton Hill was drafted in the 1st last year as basically a slot CB. He only played 162 snaps.

Year 1 for Forbes would likely mean him eating into KJ and Wrights snap. Also decent chance AB isn’t even on the roster post injury as he could be cut for cap savings.

Witherspoon is in contention to become the #1 CB drafted, he is the better player now over Gonzalez. If teams were so concerned about Forbes lack of weight, why is he such a hot name right now? He is a terrific player with elite traits, outside of being real skinny. Teams must believe they can add enough weight onto his frame to be successful. His college production was elite in the SEC.
Not sure what you are even debating here.

From Dane draft guide:
Witherspoon:
2. DEVON WITHERSPOON | Illinois 5114 | 181 lbs. | 4SR Pensacola, Fla. (Pine Forest) 12/11/2000 (age 22.38)
WEAKNESSES: Lean-muscled and lacks ideal bulk … played his senior season in the 177-180-pound range, and NFL teams want to see him consistently carry 185 pounds … aggressive play style at the top of routes and at the catch point, which often results in early contact or flags (11 penalties combined over his junior and senior seasons) … average recovery speed when he loses a step … occasionally loses his footing when transitioning with routes … his Cover 2 and zone spacing is still developing … missed three games because of injury between his sophomore and junior seasons; unable to work out at the combine because of a left hamstring (March 2023)

Forbes:
5. EMMANUEL FORBES | Mississippi State 6006 | 166 lbs. | 3JR Grenada, Miss. (Grenada) 1/13/2001 (age 22.29)
WEAKNESSES: Wiry, thin-boned athlete with slight shoulders and below-average mass … has trouble keeping on weight (was 165 pounds as a senior in high school) with questionable growth potential (NFL scout: “Can he get to 180 pounds? That’s the question. And I don’t know the answer.”) … eagerness to jump plays will leave him playing catchup when he guesses wrong (see 2022 Georgia tape) … will get his arm wrapped around receivers, often unnecessarily (one pass interference and three defensive holding penalties in 2022) … tenacious in the run game, but will stop his feet and struggle to finish, leading to missed tackles … doesn’t have stopping power and can be blown backwards when he tries to put his shoulder into the belly of ball carriers … doesn’t have much chance to power through tight ends or most receivers once they get blocking hands on him … played only on field goal blocks on special teams in 2022 and had three penalties (one roughing, two offsides) … lean build will have some questioning his durability — missed only one game because of injury in college (November 2022), but also missed parts of several others, including being carted off versus LSU as a sophomore (September 2021).

SUMMARY: A three-year starter at Mississippi State, Forbes was exclusively an outside cornerback (right of the formation) in former defensive coordinator (now head coach) Zach Arnett’s 3-3-5 base, playing man (press and off-man) and zone. Since Forbes entered college in 2020, he leads all college football players with 14 interceptions and six returned for touchdowns, an FBS record. His tape is a master class of spatial relationships and anticipation to make plays on the ball (led the team in both passes defended and interceptions each of his three seasons). Though he is known to freelance, he usually does it responsibly and plays on the balls of his feet to stay balanced and react to anything. Overall, Forbes’ rail-thin build and marginal play strength are concerns, along with his overaggressive tendencies, but he is light-footed and long with the mental processor and confidence to be an NFL playmaker. NFL teams willing to overlook his slightness will find a damngood player. GRADE: 1st-2nd Round (No. 35 overall)

Now and then his access gets him scoops or near scoops anyway. That is pretty much the sum of his worth. I never had ANY respect for the ultimate company man Spagnola.

Teams clearly believe he can add additional weight to his frame as he is still being looked as a 1st rd corner.

Honestly, IF and that's a big one, he gets past the Eagles or the 10th spot........there's no telling how far he may drop.

The question is the risk worth a 1st round pick? No question about his coverage/ball skills but my concern is when he has to get physical...

He had no issues in the SEC and is a better ball hawk then Diggs.

what Team and says who?

You are taking draftnik reports and CB rankings as Team boards.
We don't know if any of that is real or smoke or just based on he was really great in the SEC except perhaps versus Georgia.

Last year the lightest CBs in the league weighed 9 pounds heavier than Forces did at the combine.
  • Marcus Jones – 175 pounds – Patriots
  • Brandin Echols – 175 pounds – Jets
  • Cordale Flott – 175 pounds – Giants
  • Duke Shelley – 176 pounds – Vikings
  • Levi Wallace – 179 pounds – Steelers
Beyond that even if he reached 175 which I think might take a year given his slight frame, he'd still be very small and unlikely to handle tackling physical NFL runners.
Forbes is simply outside the standard measurable framework for the position and as such I'd expect him to fall out of round 1 but I do VERY MUCH hope some team takes him before Dallas picks at 26.

The Pro Bowl last year featured ALL Cornerbacks who weighed over 200 pounds.

If Dallas needed a quick, cover guy on the outside who could mirror and run off it might be different but Quinn has always favored bigger CB and Diggs lack of tackling cost the team last year.
So you definitely do not want to pair him with a very small CB longer term IMO.

Forbes weighed 170 at his pro day. He could very, very easily be 180 by week 1.

No he wouldn't. Or he would have already been there.

He got home cooking at the pro day and came in only at 170.
Thats not even close.
And he had a team training him and targeting 170-175 at the combine.
With millions of dollars on the line he weighed 166 and 170.
If anything, it'll be hard for him to hold 170 in training camp and pre-season and make that weight come game 1.

It'd take PEDs to get him to a legit 180 by week 1.
8 pounds per year of muscle is about right for intense year-round weight training.

10 pounds in 3 months is a good goal for someone on Tren, Test and HGH.

It really won’t. It’s very, very easy to add 10/15 pounds of healthy weight with a solid understanding of proper nutrition and weight training.

You have no idea what kind of training / diet he was doing before the combine so that’s not fair to say he’s already done it.

As long as his head is on straight and he’s dedicated it’ll be a piece of cake. I did it with a smaller frame and less resources and watched several peer athletes do the same when I was younger. Maybe not 3 months but 6-12 is very feasible and obtainable. Go read about Hyatt - he went from 164 to 184 in a year.

Are we just assuming he can play the slot? Or is he taking Gilly or Trevons job? Or is Trevon getting traded? Because it seems like a misuse of draft capital taking a corner after the Gilmore trade
Forbes or any CB would be a long term play. Although I think Forbes would be a better player in 2023 than Bland ( not a negative on Bland)

Now as for slot, I think its partially an assumption. He played some slot in college, but mostly on the boundry. However I do think he has the makeup of a player that can play slot. Bland was primarily a boundry guy in college too
