Nah, the coaches were just observing what they have for when Tyron comes back. Nothing more in my opinion.

And besides, I think we witnessed McGovern's best game as a pro yesterday. Keep those guys rolling.
I think the Cowboys were playing with house money by inserting Peters into the game while moving Smith to guard. They got a birds eye view of the upcoming switch they are planning on making with Tyron coming back to his tackle position. Peters is the backup. McGovern may reclaim his role as a full back. This is all speculation on my part.

Nope .. i would Not resort to starting Peters at LT, ..unless injury changed the dynamics so.
i don't do that unless i'm totally forced to.

- In a game such as Vikes when the game is clearly in hand that allows us to do some spot play and change of positions that does not
threaten continunity.

- In a blowout win so early Peters could be spotted with some reps at either LG or LT.
He's idea injury insurance at this time.

- if anyone is thinking starting Peters over McGovern ?
i would not do that either. McGovern is the more natural OG, and he's been at the least serviceable decent.
We've ran the ball well, and really opened up some holes in the interior- and while he still is up and down occasionally as a pass protector, Conner is nowhere near as disasterous poor as he
was last year at LG.

- And remember the previous knock on McGovern was that he could only play RG.

He's great depth. I don't mind getting him snaps when the situation lends itself to do so, helps to keep him crisp. But above all keep the depth healthy and fresh for a time of need.

Anyone get a chance to really look into his 20 or so snaps from yesterday? At worse, we have real depth at LT.

I don’t think Peters is going to be a full time starter in the NFL anymore. Last year in Chicago, he was the starter but still took plays off nearly every game. At 40 years of age, he’s a good player for up to about 1/2 the plays in a game. I think playing him at LT and playing Tyler Smith at LG is good preparation for Tyron Smith returning.

The great news for the Cowboys is that Tyler Biadasz and Terrance Steele have improved, and Connor McGovern has dramatically improved at the Guard position. Overall, the Cowboys are in a really good position along the offensive line.

They were giving him snaps there to get Peters some work, and also practice Tyler at Guard in anticipation of Tyron coming back. If Tyron can come back and be the actual Tyron, for just a playoff run and move Tyler inside…..lookout folks. This thing is going to be tough to defend. Steele and Martin are dominating the right side.

Run! And then run again! Defense and run the ball is the historical way to NFCE teams to feast in the playoffs.

Spot on, and this OL get overlooked when accolades are being handed out.
This OL is becoming a strength again and improves weekly it seems.
Returning Pro Bowlers like Tyron possibly before post season play begins can upgrade this entire OL even more and will make this unit one of the best in the league.
Improved running lanes and pass protection have been obvious improvements already.
We can have a mauling style OL entering post season play with a returning Tyron and a better conditioned Peters, that alone creates some serious mismatches for DLs to handle.

If Tyron Smith is planned to be LT I’d rather have Tyler Smith have time to acclimate to LG.
