Peterson

Please. Devin Hester's top end speed is solid, that's it. The guy gets constantly caught up from behind when trying to return punts. He's very agile and his acceleration is excellent, but his speed is not that great. Peterson would smoke him in a foot race.

Does he?

hr certainly runs w/ the most momentum................

scratch that, tie w/ the barbarian

And I respect your opinion.

As I would appreciate my opinion getting the same respect.

I can see both sides of it, I just happen to think that Peterson is an exceptional player.

I compare him to Eric Dickerson, a guy who started out strong and had a Hall of Fame career.

That's cool but I think it's different today then it was then. When Eric broke into the league in 83, you didn't have the contracts you have today. Today, an investment like that is monitarily more valuable then it was then. I mean, if you look at Eric Dickerson's career, you'll see that he had 7 really good years and then the production went way down.

In Dickerson's first 7 seasons, he averaged the following.

350 Carries/1603.7 Yds/11.7 TDs

In his last 4 seasons, he averaged this:

136.5 Carries/508.3 Yds/2 TDs.

Dickerson was a great back but the game is different now.

He was also traded away to some terrible teams. That had to factor in.

But monetarily, why are you paying the guy so much money if not to heelp field the best team?

And if someone could show me any fact that says he would more likely get injured on play 22 then he would on play 15 I might change my mind.

But as I've said, it's merely a difference of opinion.

Nobody is 'right' or 'wrong'.

Except Brad Childress!

To be honest with you, I'd be much more inclined to agree on an increase if Minnesota had an offense that might give them a shot in the playoffs. I mean, I understand Jackson doesn't have the experience and they are young at WR and all but, seriously, the guy has 45 completions in 4 starts. He has two TDs and is only throwing for 46% Comp. Percentage. The last two games are just horrid. 15 completions in two games for 208 yards, 1 TD and only 35.7%. It's not Jackson's fault entirely but there is just no way I see him helping AP. I just think your running the risk with no real reward at the end if you run him more.

I don't know what I would take away from Minnesota in last weeks game. I mean, they only ran 49 offensive plays total. 12 carries is not a lot but it's more then Taylor, also rushed the ball pretty well. You got your QB throwing 19, which is also not a lot, and rushing 4 times so I think it's more a matter of not having a lot of snaps to work with. May just be a matter of not being able to sustain enough offense to get the additional carries into the play calling. I don't know.

When you put it that way, I tend to agree with you. Even if Peterson got 30 carries a week (which I'm not advocating), the Vikings would still win about 8 games at best and not make the playoffs so what would be the point?

I see a team that is a quarterback and receiver away from being a playoff team.

I see a coach who has brought nothing with him in two years. A supposed 'offensive genius' who's done nothing so far.

In my opinion, his mistakes and arrogance cost his team more than help them.

To me, the team wins despite what Childress does.

I put him right there with Rich Kotite and I think he's terrible.

I don't really know much about Childress and what has happened this year in Minnesota because I really haven't watched them much. I don't know if he's any good or not. I do agree with you that this team could be pretty good with a decent QB and a little help at WR. Real hard to run the ball when everybody knows you can't throw it.

I know more about them because some friends are fans. And I see a coach who has done nothing since he's been there yet is somehow stubborn and arrogant.

And Andy Reid and the Eagles have fleeced Childress in several trades already. I wouldn't take any more of Andy's call if I were him.

His own fanbase want him fired yesterday.

I disagree, Peterson has a great burst, but most of his success is coming from him cutting the other way and going up the field smoothly, catching defenders in bad angles, and it's over because AD is fast, but he's not the fastest guy in pads, he's just uses physics so well

That's why they alternate RB's.

I knew you'd be back!

Yeah, when you put it that way, the Vikings really wouldn't be that much better even if he did get more carries. So I can see that side of things.
