Peterson's Not as Big as You'd Anticipate...

Cornerback.

I've been told he is the #1 guy on our board and we would move up to get him.

He would have to drop atleast to 5 or beyond for Dallas to make a move. Anything higher then 5 they would get raped in compensation

208 is a perfect weight, he still has the versatility to play either position I wouldn't rule out one or the other. Sean Taylor for the Skins was 212 during his final season and he was still thought of as a big safety. 6'1 208 is perfect for either position.

I agree, here's hoping. What we really need is for Prince to run a 4.3. :laugh2:

Last thing we need to do is give up picks to move up.

i agree..i dont want to move up in this draft..not from pick 9 that is

He is a top 5 player in this draft.
And that is at 6'1", 208 and a 4.4.

If he runs a 4.3 he goes top 3.

He is the top CB and DB and skill position player. He will go very, very early.

The only guy I'd draft over him is Fairley.

Jammer was 6 foot and 204 at a 4.42 and went 5th overall.

There is talent to be had at the 9th pick, why give up picks to move up.

If you are going to move up, what you give up better be a player we already have rather than a draft pick. Like Marion Barber (who still have some value) + 9th overall pick to move up a few slots. That way, you don't lose fresh talent, but you do get out from under an ugly contract.

sigh.... you really should realize we can not trade rw11 or barber....

no team will take their contracts from us.
in that deal we'd have to move DOWN.

you don't move up in high round 1 based off current players unless they are really, really good.

we won't trade up period because the cost is simply too high.

Yeah, look how we struck out last year.

Twice.

I've got no problem moving up if that's the guy we want.

I prefer to be aggressive, personally. Especially if we are also aggressive in FA.

I don't want to get fleeced, but I definitely have no trouble with going to get the guy you want. You should feel confident doing it if your staff has done their homework.

Jerry has been on record as saying there has to be a special player for him to consider moving up in the first. He did so with Dez. I think he may consider it for Patrick if they really like him.

The problem is not the move up itself. The problem IMO is how much Jerry is willing to give up to move up. IF it jives with the draft point chart (outdated or not it is still a reference) and we get a decent deal...so be it. I am afraid however that when Jerry wants something, he is prone to getting taken by other teams (see Galloway and Roy Williams)...to be fair they were not trades to move up in the draft but I think people will get my point.

I would imagine they have some scenarios in place of how they hope it goes and also what spot they would be comfortable moving up to and how much they would give up...I just get worried when Jerry gets a sparkle in his eye for a player and wants him real bad because I think he will do whatever it takes to get him and at times that means over paying in a trade.

Time will tell.

No guts, no glory.

theres a big difference moving up a few spots in the 2nd half of round 1 as opposed to top 4 or even top 3 of round 1. Something like 40 mil difference on a contract and atleast a extra 1st round pick in 2012

People are always saying Jerry wont make a trade for a player that will cost him draft picks then have to sign hi to a big contract. This is the same thing

Actually, I somewhat agree with you, although you are wrong saying no team would take Barber or someone else to allow a team to move up 2-3 spots.

If the player they are wanting will be there 2-3 spots later and they want a proven veteran goal line running back who has solid blitz pickup skills. (especially if they have a young QB or is drafting a young QB) They will do it just for the fact that it's a 2 for 1 deal.

Meh, we swapped a third for a fourth to move up for Dez. That's a lot different than the outright loss of a third or even second it could cost to move up from 9 to 5 or 6. That's a big price to pay for a team that finished 6-10 and needs an infusion of talent. Throwing away high picks is how a team gets in trouble, just like when we "No Guts No Glory"ed it for Roy Williams trade.

Depends on the team, really.

The Commanders have given up quite a few picks and still suck. However, the Jets also gave away quite a few picks and have been doing pretty darn well.

You can move up in the bottom half of round 1 fairly easily... not so much with top 10 picks. The value is insane that high.

We'd be sending off 41 to move up even 2 spots which is insane considering all our needs.

If you want an elite talent at CB you go buy one... period.
Then you draft for value at 9 and 41 perhaps even after a small trade down at 9.

If you go sign Jonathon Johnson at CB
You can sit at 9 and take Cam Jordan if he is there or trade down a few spots and take the OT you want. You come back in round 2 and can take a highly rated FS if you desire or take a top of the line interior lineman on either O or D.

That's certainly better than moving up and giving up 41 and needing to sign multiple free agents to cover areas.

We gave up a 3rd when the dealing was said and done.

If we end up with the best player in the Draft I am all for it.
