He had an awful day, giving up two sacks on a DE who isnt as good as the last two guys he has faced. Fisher isnt bad but he isnt elite either. OT is a major need and a liability this offseason. Screw FS, Davis and Pile seem to have it under control now. IMO we will rebuild the Oline like we did the Dline this offseason. It's still amazing to me that this season has gone to **** without Flozell. Tucker had a better game than Pettiti and he was a backup to open the season.

Petitti will be fine. He had a bad game. He still didn't lose it for us. He'll review the tape and learn from it. Cut him some slack and focus your ire on Cortez and the coaches.

Well if he keeps playing like he did the last two weeks then no he's not the answer.

He obviously needs help from the TE or RB.

He's only a rookie. Give him time. Larry Allen had trouble as a rookie.

The entire OL played poorly ... start with Al Johnson and Marco Rivera.

It was Pettiti's worst game yet, but he is still a rookie. I recall Larry Allen having some rough days as a rookie either. He was good as a rookie, but in his second year he showed amazing improvement. Pettiti will do fine, he just needs time.

sign lecharles bentley to play center. we could have had fonoti too for guard depth. our ol needs soem depth next year and maybe some starters. next year we need an offensive overhaul like we had on the defense this year.

First of all, Pettiti is a rookie RT and the learning curve for a Tackle is pretty steep. Secondly, the Seahawks are playing well as a unit, including both DE's. Third, the season has not "gone to ****". This team was in this game right up to the final kick. Sometimes the breaks go your way and sometimes they don't. It may be likely that the Cowboys look at improving the Oline at both Guard and Tackle in the off season, but let's not completely discount the team's effort.

I wonder sometimes about posts like the a/n one. I see posts going from one extreme to the other. While I see the need to vent, I offer a suggestion to those who are hot and cold about this team: But some high-topped shoes to support the constant jumping on and off the proverbial bandwagon. ;)

Pulease.

Pettit is a rookie. He has one bad game and some posters are ready to throw him out of the lineup.

Relax.

If an undrafted OL named Nate Newton can bounce around from team to team to become a dominant force on the offensive line, cut Pettiti some slack.

Some of you guys forget this is a YOUNG team, with the exception of the QB position and the receiver position.

It takes OL at least a few years to master their position and Pettiti is starting.

Relax. Take a deep breath. The end of the world is not tomorrow.

The Cowboys will be fine and so will Pettiti.

Depth is a concern and I hope we address it next year. But we do have some young guards on the roster. We need more young tackles for depth more than guards, IMO. Bentley is an option yes. But I doubt we go there.

I guess you haven't read that Fonoti is coming off some injury and he's overweight and out of shape. It'll be a few weeks before he's a producer for the Vikings. There's a reason he was had for such a low pick.

I can accept erratic play from a rookie... I have confidence he'll only get better. The same kind of play from a highly-paid vet like Rivera, though, is maddening.

The Rivera problem is a lot more worrying- did we just happen to get someone that was just starting to fall apart?

That was against Reggie White and not Bryce Fisher.

I think yesterday was an example of how much we had been helping him. Without it, he will struggle.

They said that Fonoti tipped 430 at some point in the last several months.

Those wanting to jettison Pettiti after one bad game against a future hall of famer (Strahan) and one bad game against regular players really need to try and use their head for something other then a hat rack.

I respectfully disagree about Rob not beign the answer at RT. Like a lot of others have said, he is a rookie and will need time to bloom. Overall, I have been pleasantly surprised by his performance so far.

I do agree that we need to invest some draft picks or FA $$ on some young, talented offensive lineman. The lack of depth at OT and OG worries me.

doesnt matter. we dont need him in the next couple weeks. id give up a 7th rounder for a guy we can use next year and the year after and after and after etc. Losing weight is not new to parcells OL.

I wonder if Ethan Brooks won't be an upgrade over Pettiti after the bye.

I always have problems with the give up posts like this for a Rookie player, or even a second year player.

The kid is a rookie, he has potential, he is talnted, HE IS YOUNG AND LEARNING.

GEESH!

What did you expect, a seasoned veteran already! This is the NFL and he will have some games like this.

To give up on him would only be cheating him and the Cowboys.

You can go on, and on, and on about players who are rookies that have some struggles, everyone starts calling them busts, and they end up being good players. When will people learn. This is not always about immediate results.

Good lord, that's Aaron Gibson all over again. No way BP would trade for a guy who's that out of shape. Especially if he can't produce THIS year.

EDIT: Just to add, this was Petitti's worst game by far. But he was not alone. The OL overall was just not on their game yesterday. Let's hope they bounce back for next week.
