He is just a kid. He needs strength. He is overcompensating between anchoring and being ready to move out. These vet ends are working him now and he needs to fight through it. He is a good prospect he just fighting up hill now. Riveria on the other hand is a lot more worrisome. He seems to have lost some strength. Not a good sign for an older player with a back injury.

That's only because his dad posts here.

How many on here were so concerned about QC's mom hearing stuff about her son or Chad's parents hearing negative stuff about him?

I know Pettiti is only a rookie, but if you don't want to hear anything negative, then I suggest you don't read internet message boards.

Your correct to a degree but what exactly does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

Pitt does post here. Do you think that makes you more correct or less correct about your position?

The fact that you compare him to QC, a player who uses drugs, is even worse. your a piece of work VA. Quincy had his opportunities and he had a great deal of support in his first couple of years. We're talking about a Rookie here. We're also talking about a member of this board. I think they both deserve better then what's been shown right here and now.

seriously Strahan could get 2 sacks against any T in the league, I guarantee it. It could have happened against Walter Jones, Orlando Pace etc. just as it happened to Rob.

i think if you check the game tape, strahan's first sack he beat the tight end and a back, not rob. i also think he played very well in the second half when he received minimal help.

I really dont know what is up with Rivera. Is his career on the end of a downhill slope? Is he still recovering from that bad injury? Is he adjusted to a new scheme? I really dont know i just hope he turns it around. we really need him to with two young tackles.

i don't wear rose colored glasses nor do i take offense to negative posting. i know rob has worked extremely hard for this opportunity and will work even harder to improve his play. rob played poorly yesterday and those saying so are correct. however, he played pretty well the previous two weeks. i'm not worried about rob because he has already done more this year than i thought he would. i'm not bothered by those who say he is not the answer, i'm only concerned if parcells says he is not the answer at rt.

so please feel free to post whatever you like, but just remember rob is busting his butt to play the best he can. if that turns out to be sub par than i expect the team to make an adjustment which will hurt far worse than anything said here.

Nice reply.

Again, the problem is many had unrealistic expectations of where this team would be at this year. You're looking at a team that was drastically short of talent the last few years and it is going to take time righting this ship.

By the way, I don't think they ever showed in on TV, but after the first sack on Bledsoe (Bryce Fisher against Petitti), Bledsoe got right up, put one arm around Petitti and patted him on the back of the helmet with his other hand. One Seahawks fan behind me even commented on it, saying Bledsoe must have said something like, "It's OK, big guy."

This is amazing. I don't even know if Petiti was supposed to even make the team this year much less start. To me it shows that this kid is really working hard to be sucessful. I expect to see a HUGE jump in his level of play from the end of this year to the beginning of next year. I truly belive Rob will be shutting folks down next year. he has gone against some of the best pass rushers and come out ok. Is he going to make mistakes, sure he is a rookie learning a new position in the NFL. Is he going to succeed, no doubt! I bet he shuts down the Arizone DE. He faced him before and he knows what to look out for. I think next year will be an amazing year for this team.

I'm not worried about Petitti. He had a tough game yesterday, but he's a rookie and if you look at his play overall it's been above average. Plus, it seems to me they aren't afraid to run to his side which I think was the case with Gurode and Tucker over there last year.
I thought Torrin Tucker did ok yesterday. I've only had a chance to re-watch the first half, but I thought he looked pretty good.
This team is close. Very close. The breaks will start to go our way in the second half of the season.

Let's see Petitti just completed his 7 pro game at a new position.

7 games - yep that is plenty of time to evaluate whether a player can make it in the NFL. BP gives 3 seasons - but realy why wait. Let's just cut him and move on.

Sometimes I wonder if people on this board overreact this way in their personal lives -- "honey, we are out of milk! -- I want a divorce" "The copier is out of paper -- you are fired!"

And this exact mentality you describe (that an ever-growing number seem to have here at CBZ) is unfortunately making this board less and less enjoyable to visit, IMO.

Yes...by all accounts, Petitti had a poor game. So did Bledsoe. Have any of you ever had a "bad day" at work? If you are a new hire in sales and perform or even exceed expectations for several weeks and then have a stretch where you didn't meet quota, does that mean you are all the sudden a horrible salesperson and should be fired? I guess some of you think so.

The man was a 7th Round pick who is already playing well above expectations in my view. Because he gave up sacks and got beat in one game does not make him a bad player now. Now if poor performance becomes a trend, then that's a different story. Even Pittdawg agrees with this.

I understand the frustration in losing the game yesterday and especially the way in which we lost it, but some of these "Monday Morning over-reactions" I've seen after our losses are so juvenile that I find it hard to even want to respond to most of them.

What does QC's drug use have to do with anything I posted?

The point is that even in QC's first year or Chad's first year they were criticized for their on the field performance yet I never heard 1 person complain about what their parents might think about it.

As for Pettiti, I haven't busted on him - I fully understand he's a rookie and is going to make mistakes. I just found it interesting that some seem to want to tiptoe around him simply because someone in his family posts on here.

And I fully realize, and hope, that no player is going to get bent out of shape over a fan internet board. I'm sure all of these players a great people, but the reality is that it you will see things posted that aren't going to be just rah-rah and if you can't handle it then you may not want to read it.
I'm sure Pettiti and his family and all the other players can handle it - this is directed towards to certain fans who obviously have very fragile psyches.

My posted wasn't meant to be directed at you or him. I'm sure you guys can handle anything that someone may post on an internet site.
My post was directed towards those fans who obviously can't handle hearing anything that is 100% sugarcoated.

I don't know if Rob is the answer or not, but it'd be great if he were, both for him and the organization.

I would expect you should take that up with somebody who actually participated in hanging said players out to dry in there first season. That would not be me. No matter. You find it convenient to make a post like you did before, as if to say, "Well, if it was good enough for Hutchinson and Carter....." Not the right message to me at all, if in fact your trying to show how rediculous this sort of thing is.

I don't know Pitt personally and I don't know his son either. I do know this. I know that if it were my son, it would be real painful to hear. Doesn't matter if it would be deserved or not. That's not the point. The point is that it's not an easy thing for a parent to read these things about there own children. Double tough when it's not even really deserving, IMO.

We all talk Cowboy football together. Sometimes, we agree. Sometimes we don't. In the end, we have commen interest. I would hope that these few simple facts would lend itself twords realizing that we should try and treat each other with at least some semblence of class. Posting this kind of stuff about Pettiti, regardless, is not a show of class where Pitt is concerned.

Perhaps I am nieve. After all, this is a public message board. I guess I would just like to think that we would treat each other better then that. I would like to think that our posters are better then that.

If that makes me fragile, OK, I accept that lable.

There is no excuse for comparing Pettiti to the coke head or the idiot blonde.
That is moronic in the extreme.
And there are VERY few here that object to criticism when the player has earned it- as Pettiti did yesterday.
It is the really stupid over reactions and personal attacks on the players that is out of bounds. Pettiti - BY ALL ACCOUNTS- works his butt off. No laziness or carelessness THAT I HAVE HEARD ABOUT. As a rookie learning a NEW position he is going to have good and bad games. HE MIGHT even have a couple of bad games in a row.
BUT as long as you believe he is doing the best that he can and is giving all he has got, then the BS comparisons to Q and company are on YOU- not him.

Sometimes things aren't always black and white. Keep Rob get rid of Rob. He could grow into a quality starting right tackle. He has good work ethic and attitude and up till now we have been able to give him some help on passing plays. With Adams getting hurt and Tucker also needing help, Rob's inexperience in the passing game has been amplified. We will struggle on offense until that improves. The type of moves Rob got beat on yesterday were the same ones I saw him getting beat on in pre season. I'm not saying he can't be the answer and he is a very good run blocker but as has been stated from day one if the pocket isn't exceptionally clean, Bledsoe is much less than his best.
