Manning>Brees, for the record.

Brees hasn't been good, nor have the Saints. They've created turnovers, but two ridiculously lucky things happened in order for them to win against a team that was trying its best to lose... plus, the Vikings look worse than we do and were absent their starting CBs week 1.

I'm not going to respond to such crap any longer... I will leave you with this, Brees is a Superbowl champion something Rivers nor Romo can lay claim to.

I didn't say Brees didn't have potential. I was agreeing with the original statement of him being relevant without Sean Payton. The Chargers were willing to place an unproven Rivers over Brees... that doesn't exactly scream 'great QB' in Brees' favor.

He was coming off a major injury to his throwing shoulder, and the Chargers had a guy by the named of Philip Rivers whom they drafted #4 overall making a ton of money on their roster already. It was a pretty easy decision for San Diego to make at the time.

JBell523 dropping knowledge.

I thought they drafted Manning who whined his way out of it?

I can't say Romo is as good as Brees, but don't bring the Superbowl champion argument into it. Doug Williams, Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, and baby Manning are living testaments to crush this theory.

They made a trade with NYG who selected him at 4.

Still doesn't change the fact that Brees was a baller in SD, which you were unaware of.

Agreed. Brees is better than Romo. However, he really hasn't proven that much this season. Not that he hasn't made good plays, but Romo has done the same as well. The difference? His TEAM has pulled through for him-- better yet, the team has all clicked at once.

Which is why his first season with NO he had close to 900 yards more than his best year in SD?

At any rate, I just looked it up and I'll admit I'm wrong. Brees kind of left the Chargers moreso than them ditching him.

edit: add less ints and more td's to that.

Brees and Manning both have GOOD Offensive Lines and don't have to run scared all the time. Romo has to wonder when and where his career is going to end if he holds the ball longer than 1 to 1.5 seconds.

Personally, I think with a years seasoning behind Romo with the Indy or NO offensive lines, I think Romo could play as well as either of those QBs.

Brees and Manning are clearly the best two QBs in the league right now. Romo's not in their class. He's near it, but he's not in it, and he has a lot of work to do still before he gets there.

It's gonna take some time. Brees and Manning have three things that Romo doesn't have - 8+ years as a starter, an offense built around their strengths, and an offensive line that is in sync with them for pass protection. Even if one guy gets beaten, neither the lineman nor Manning or Brees panics and they end up sticking with it and recovering enough for the QB to move around in the pocket, set their feet, and deliver an accurate throw. When a Cowboys lineman gets beaten, they either hold and get the flag or they just give up immediately and Romo has a guy in his face and gets flustered. There's no trust factor.

As for Romo, one of his weakness for years has been his passing for screens. He doesn't seem as comfortable running a screen play as other QBs. Maybe it's because of his delivery and unorthodox style, but I've noticed that some QBs just look like naturals when they draw the defense towards them and then fling it out to the RB (ex: Manning, Brees, Mcnabb) while Romo doesn't have that same fluidity

Romo just showed similar ability in the skins game. First converting a 4th and 10 with a pass to Austin ... and then throwing the TD to REW.

Brees is undoubtedly one of the best. But he also benefits from Payton ... a supporting cast that's all usually on the same page ... etc.

Basically, the Saints win was greatly aided by the early safety and the 9'ers turning the ball over inside the 5-yard line before the half.

Before I start, Brees is Better than Romo. Not a great deal, but better. It sounds weird, but I think Brees would do better than Romo on the Saints though not by much, but I think Brees would do significantly worse than Romo if he were on the Cowboys.

Romo has had many comeback drives in his career that won games. Romo has had even MORE comeback drives that have been STOPPED by our own team. As recently as Washington last week. So many times I've seen Romo drive down the field, only to have a WR stop a route short, the offense get some asinine penalty, or the defense/special team just ruin it. The Baltimore game comes to mind, TWICE Romo drove us down the field to put us in position to win and TWICE the defense allowed 60+ yard runs for TD (Back to back mind you, each after Romo drove us for a TD).

I feel Romo is BETTER than his stats show, and his stats are stellar. Our offensive line is terrible, and has been since Bledsoe. It magically went from crap to Probowl worthy and the only thing that really changed was Romo.

It's not Romo who needs to take it to the next level, it's this entire team.

Don't forget Rodgers.
Rodgers is good, but I don't even have him in the same group with Romo.

Level 1: P. Manning; D. Brees
Level 2: T. Brady; P. Rivers; T. Romo
Level 3: A. Rodgers B. Roethelisberger

Do you know why they drafted Phillip Rivers if Drew Brees was balling in SD?

Again, he bought enough time on what would have been the game-winner in WAS last week.

No doubt... But he needs to do that more through the ball game again.

He is playing good and taking what the defense gives him but i'd like to see him go back to making more plays with his feet.

Used to it seemed like every 3rd and long we had a chance because of Romo ability to buy time and find someone. I'd like to see him get back to that.

I'd also like to see more bootlegs when we get in the redzone.
