Peyton Manning’s squeaky-clean image was built on lies

The story seems to have holes to me. How do you go from her examining his foot while he sits on a training table to his bare junk on top of her head? Was he naked to begin with or did she somehow not notice him taking his pants off? Does she still have this envelope that Manning allegedly sent her? Is she even 100% certain it was from him? Without the redacted parts being revealed its hard to imagine a motive for this kind of hatred toward an athletic trainer. It's a really strange story to me.

Hmm, Shaun King quotes one side's legal document and treats it as gospel. Of course the story is going to be told in a light most favorable to her case. Real balanced journalism.

This has been around for years. No one hid this, it's just old news.

King is spamming Twitter with this crap.

The Manning story sounds like juvenile college football player stupidity -- something out of a Porkies movies more than anything else.

It's certainly unacceptable behavior, however, I think we need to keep in mind this happened in 1996 -- 2 decades ago in an era not so politically correct.

When I read Payton Manning had been involved in sexual assault I was assuming they were talking rape or something like this. This accusation, if true, is definitely a crime by today's standards, however, was definitely not violent in nature.

I guess I am meandering here...

There is some incredibly damning stuff in the article; and it's not just King...it's been picked up all over the damn place and almost nobody is putting a positive spin on it.

One section the Sporting News highlighted:

"The document claims that Manning, in an attempt to "discredit the victim," told his father that Dr. Naughright was "trashy," had a "vulgar mouth," was unattractive despite her "big breasts," and that "she had been out with a lot of black guys," — a seemingly irrelevant detail, but apparently meant as a negative. In Archie Manning's deposition, he said there was a perception among some that trainers "should not be going out with blacks if the trainer is white."

*******

The whole "She goes out with black guys" has long been used as some sort of subtle "code" for "slut" (or "trashy" as Manning put it). It conveys that any white woman who actually likes going out with black guys must be doing so because she just loves sex constantly, because why else go out with black guys, right? There's a level of obscene immaturity in that comment by both Mannings.

Dude it was more than just bare junk. It was butt, rectum (my god!!!), testes, and even the space between the testes.

I have no clue what happened, but that sounds like she was in there pretty deep. Almost like she dove in head first. I mean, how you can say someone snuck up on you as you're examining their feet and - unbeknownst to you - they were able to get the entirety of ALL their netherparts wrapped around your face like a pair of extra tight briefs?

Not that I care, but I'm almost inclined to believe the tea bagging was just a coverup for a little extra curricular activity. Relations with a player gets her fired, but Peyton would be immune and would probably be given an award for it. He "takes the fall" all while denying it and the whole thing blows over. Only problem was the player who walked in on some freaky stuff and he's not changing his story that Manning was suffocating her with his taint so now the situation won't go away.

Fast forward to the "Vulgar Mouth" letter, which seems a hell of a lot more appropriate to name someone who willfully put their mouth in the described areas.

this is sarcasm on your part, right?
its a made up story,it never happened. Yeah, someone waited till after a SB win to pull it out.
..and some how the cover up lost its grip 20 years later ? lol

just another made up story

I don't see how anyone who has read anything on this can come away with the conclusion that it's a made up story. One can reach the conclusion that Manning's story of it being a misunderstanding, ie, he was attempting to moon another teammate (who denied Manning was attempting to moon him) and his testicles accidently landed in her face as she lifted up. But by all accounts, including Manning's, it happened.

This has been out for a while. IIRC I saw it on Mannings' wiki page last year.

Dunno why it's getting brought up again.

I do think it's some attempt to smear his reputation, however, something clearly happened, nothing indicates she was engaged in any type of behavior that could "justify" what happened and the periodic harassment afterwards is bothersome.

It has come out again because there is a suit against the university of Tennessee about them doing whatever it takes to protect their athletes who've done wrong. And Peyton being the most popular one, and his incident mentioned in the suit, brought it all back to the limelight.

Ya, I was expecting some form of coerced sex. Not to say there is nothing wrong, but a tea bagging is basically a frat boy being a frat boy.
"Tea bagging" anyone is despicable and I can't believe that it is being portrayed as if it is no big deal. I am floored at the things sports fans are outraged by, but this is just an "immature prank".

while the alleged incident is despicable in it's own regard, he didn't tea bag her.

This has never been confirmed. The 74 page document was written up by her lawyers. Here is what she signed: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/file/any-given-sunday-0?page=0

The most he is guilty of is indecent exposure. But as Mike Florio stated, there IS something on page 14 that Manning's lawyers negotiated to keep from the public. It happened in 1994, we'll most likely never know.

prove to me its nothing more than a made up story. Media can write anything it wants no matter how fictional.
you have nothing but faith that what someone wrote down is true. Media has the legal right to write a lie if it wants to. Go ahead and research that.
