PFF Pro Bowl Selections (7 Cowboys)

And why is Witten even an alternate? Position that weak in NFC?

PFF has historically put more importance on tight ends' overall game -- blocking, in particular -- than on their fantasy football numbers, and Witten is the best all-around tight end in football.

When Antonio Gates was at his peak as a fantasy weapon, PFF rated Jim Kleinsasser higher overall because of his blocking. Witten, at least, is still a productive receiver.

More than some. Just about all of them.

It's because there are no other folks/groups out there that offer any sort of rating system.

Some folks view of the PFF rating system is more complimentary than others, but if one looks at the PFF ratings at the end of the year– they're always pretty spot on with what the fans/media pretty much feel about a player. And that being said, their ratings must have some merit. Perfect? No, but some merit nonetheless.

Also keep in mind the PFF folks do the same thing every schmo here does... they watch a game and give us their opinion on if a player is good, bad or indifferent.

Some are indignant because PFF gets media attention for it while Joe Ham&Eggs gets to spout off in a forum.
