Neither team nor player have said anything that anyone would regret, yet. But the tension is there, and it seems to be building.

On one side, the Cowboys have decided — after telling Tony Romo that he’ll be released — that they want to finagle a draft pick for him. On the other side, Romo still wants to be released.

David Moore of the Dallas Morning News reports that nothing is expected to happen this weekend, and that “it’s optimistic” to believe the situation will be resolved within the next week. In other words, the Cowboys are content to sit and wait.

I can see both sides' issue here. The Cowboys, I'm sure, want to hold onto him for a while to see if they can actually get a pick for him.

On Tony's side, though, if they wait to long to release him, that can possibly work against him. Eventually the teams Tony wants to play for could move on, and I'm sure he'd like to start getting acquainted with his new team, ASAP.

They are making stuff up....yet again

They met on Tuesday and Romo told Jerry there was no pressure to rush right away.
Jerry's words.

As opposed to Jerry going to the media and saying yep, we're at war.

I've got ocean front property in Nebraska to sell you.

Hard to believe anything the press has been saying about the situation since they have flip flopped almost twice a day since FA started. One moment they say 'expect Romo to be released', the next they will say 'expect Romo to be traded.'

I expect and demand that Jerry and Co. wait this out for as long as they feasibly can do so. It's not a seller's market at this moment. Wait until it starts to develop into one. If it never happens, then you did all you could do and cut bait.

I'm sure Texans fans may be wondering why they traded Osweiler away and didn't secure Romo in a trade when they had the chance. And I'm sure Broncos fans don't think Trevor Siemien is right for the job and that Paxton Lynch is not ready yet when they still have a top notch defense that won the Super Bowl 2 years ago.

All of that adds up and when it comes to nut-cutting time....they'll have a lot of explaining to do to their fanbase.

This article suggests Jones changed his mind re releasing Romo, which we don't know to be the case at all. For starters, that was a story released last week by reporters on twitter. It might have been a tactic, or it might have been misreported. Either way, I have a hard time believing the team said it, meant it, and then changed their minds and pissed Tony off in the process. That's not how stuff like this goes down.

Depends on what "rush" means. That was Tuesday. Five days ago. This goes on for weeks, that might push things.

I am sure after being told he will get what he wants, he will get a little uncomfortable, especially if there was a time table agreed upon.

This is a great opportunity to separate the real Cowboys fans from the fake ones.

Love the team. Hate Romo.

I half believe that the FO wanted to take the media time away from their meager signings and that they haven't done much to combat the losses...this will keep the media VERY focused on one thing

and, to answer Risen Star, I am team Cowboys (if there are sides to take)

The media has an axe to grind and are just stirring drama up-- as usual. No quotes from Romo. No quotes from JJ. Just media bias and speculation. It's not go Cowboys or go Romo. It's "shut the ~bleep~ up!" to the media.

Yeah, if it goes on for weeks the pressure will build.

Hey, Candice said after they settled into the routine after Romo had rehabbed, last year wasn't the worst. The team did well and Romo enjoyed helping Dak while also going over ideas with Linehan.
Who knows....

This guy's under contract to a team that took him in as an unheralded UDFA and made him a millionaire a hundred times over, developed him into an elite level starting QB, the top commodity you can have in personnel, and he wants the Cowboys to just let him walk to any team he chooses and get nothing for it.

Never happen on my watch.
