Look I'm not agreeing with what Jerry said or how he set this structure up,

but I can tell you this what people are trying to tell you is this is just how it is and Jerry's been trying to tell you if he hires A GM and doesn't like what's going on or doesn't agree he's going to countermand him anyway, he's going to go over his head and do what he wants anyway... he's the owner that is what owners do ,and it wouldn't be the first time owners and GM's clash, the GM loses his job, and you keep going through this process... Jerry decided he didn't want to go through that process and just cut out the middleman good bad or indifferent, no one's agreeing with him but this is just the way it is....

But once again,

let me just add a little counterpoint to everyone thinking we need A GM because it will solve all our issues....

there are teams out there that are far worse than the Dallas Cowboys over the last couple decades and have not gotten better the Cleveland Browns will be a good example they haven't even won a division since 1989 why don't you go count up how many owners G miss and quarterbacks save changed just in the last 10 to 12 years and then let me know how that works out for them just firing and changing people and having a buffer with A GM does not guarantee success...

When we look at the regular season and yes I know that's a sticking point here ,we're not talking about the post season, but getting to the postseason, winning divisions, the Dallas Cowboys have been a top ten team for more than a decade. they've been a top 6 in regular season win percentage.. they're winning divisions .are getting to the playoffs. they've been in the playoffs 5 at the last eight years. that's better than a whole lot of teams underneath them that have normal structures that you're asking for... I think Jerry sees it that way, again I'm not agreeing with him, I'd rather have a stronger football type in between Jerry and the head coach but we've seen that and it doesn't work it hasn't worked for the Jaguars The Jets the Raiders the Browns but really if Jerry is finding a way the way he does it to get to the playoffs more often than say 20 teams below him then this is why he's saying he doesn't believe in the standard structure.

I am not agreeing with him,

I'm just trying to tell you this is the operation of his mind but when you look around including the decision to hire Mike McCarthy in 2020 it literally was the most successful hire it was the best coaching hire of 2020 it's not even close but everyone ridiculed Jerry for hiring Mike McCarthy and since we're talking about the disdain for some of these interviews this is what we heard about Mike McCarthy but Mike McCarthy turned out to be the best hire so out of the six teams like we're in right now but back in 2020 Jerry did hire the best guy.

I know that's not gonna go too far with the people who hate Jerry are blinded with hate to admit that they were wrong in 2020 when they said Mike McCarthy they could've got a better guy well then go look at the other five teams who chose someone different and they were all worse far worse...
First of all, the comparison of McCarthy to the other coaches hired in 2020 is stupid. Jerry didn't have to hire just from that pool of 5 coaches. He could have gone anywhere to hire a coach. Secondly, giving Jerry a win for hiring McCarthy because he did better than those 4 is silly because at the end of the day, McCarthy couldn't move this franchise any further than Garrett, who basically got fired. There's no praise here, there's no reward, no participation trophy for Jerry over his hiring of McCarthy. McCarthy failed in his primary objective - get this team beyond where Garrett took them.

Second, yes, citing regular season wins is idiotic because there are no awards for that. No one cares that the 2007 Cowboys were tied for the most wins in the NFC that year and were the one seed. People only remember that it was the Giants that won the SB. People that cite regular season wins given the sheer failures we have seen in the postseason are people that struggle with admitting reality when it comes to the Cowboys.

The best part is you trying to claim you don't agree with Jerry (over and over) then spend a bunch of time coming up with nonsensical reasons why what Jerry is doing makes some sense.

Jerry has failed as GM. Massively. It's not even up for debate at this point. He's led a franchise that is on one of the WORST postseason runs in NFL history. Read that again.............. one of the worst postseason runs in NFL history. You won't find more definitive proof that what he's doing is wrong and continues to be wrong but his own arrogance and stubbornness prevents him from seeing that.

And the only people who suffer are the fans.

I propose it's a subset of that...

The only people who suffer are the fans... who choose to suffer.

Me, I don't suffer, ever... at least, not anymore. I used to. But I've gotten quite good in my later years at taking a vacation from my sports teams anytime I perceive them as failing to entertain me.

That is, after all, what this is... a consumer entertainment choice I make... it is not, as it used to be in my younger years, a pseudo-religion... I will not allow an owner of a sports team to feel he has any control over my psychological well-being.

(That's largely occurred since Jim Crane bought the Asterisks and had the chutzpah to declare that fans of the team had no real choice but to cheer for the team anyways, so why of course he took Selig's bribe to go to the AL. In that case, it was a permanent vacation.)

If the GM says that, fire him. If you don't know football, I can see why you say that. But, if you know football, then why wait for a GM? So that idiots can call you out for missing out on certain coaches?
Are you for real? Do you really think that Jerry Jones knows football?

I can't imagine what sitting down for an interview with Jerry and Stephen is like. I mean, that needs to be the worse. Two guys who think they own the world and think they are smarter than everyone else. It must be miserable.
