He was the GURU of the draft. No one since has ever come close- and the guys NOW have so much more access and so much more info. Clearly, the guy had a gift.

Ben Hogan, the Hall of Fame golfer, was not what you'd call a natural athlete... he struggled mightily building that golf swing of his... his motto was supposedly "if you can't outplay 'em, outwork 'em"...

To me, that's what Buchsbaum did... he was never a football player, or a personnel guy for an NFL team... he didn't have the inside connections that some of the modern-day "gurus" did... but he did his homework, in GREAT depth, and he had an ability to take his info and turn it into a sound rating system... basically, the NFL draft was his life...

Which is both a good thing, and kinda sad, all at the same time...

Here's Yakuza Rich's rankings of LGs where he went by sack percentages and run yardage avg(I think). Steinbach is the bigger name being a former high second round pick while Diehlman is a former FA. Steinbach (age 27 in March), Diehlman(just turned 26 in early Feb)

*Diehlman probably gets a boost from Ladainian Thomlinson running behind him.

we could have had Vince Manuwai :bang2: he was a FA last year

Adams, Kosier, Gurode, Steinbach, Colombo....sounds better than the lines we've had the last few years.

I would be pissed if we paid $7 million per year for a gaurd. We'd have to pay romo a gajillion per year if this is true.

Its the same exact line as this past year (minus guard)

I understand everyone has been so high on getting a guard, I am 1 of them as well but do we really think that this ONE position will magically fix our entire line?

Rivera was pretty damn horrendous. Just couldnt hold and gain ground very well. Useless in space. Kosier was servicable. In todays NFL you have to win with some servicable guys in your starting line up. Gurode got paid. Adams is still under contract. Colombo will most likely be resigned.

So you tell me where the change is coming?

I really wouldn't mind if that is the line.

I just hope our coaches can get more from all 5 of them, you know what I mean?

Whether its strength, technique, play calling... we need something along those lines to change as well.

Our OL does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling but looking at our offensive stats does. So somewhere somebody was doing pretty well. It could get better.

I suspect they feel pressured to have someone to truly compete and probably outright start at RG. I wouldn't depend on Rivera at this point considering another back surgery.

You don't operate on backs without good reason even in pro athletes.

I think it highly likely Dallas will sign one of those two guards if they can get it done.

the key word being *some*. The problem with this line is that there is no talent. Gurode/Kosier are "serviceable", Adams is unreliable, and the team only hopes that Columbo/McQuistan can become serviceable or better.

Or maybe the cup is half full.

You can't finish #4 in scoring with no talent on the OL.

So PFT has effectively provided themselves a safe outlet. If they sign a 7 million dollar contract right after the start of Free Agency they look like geniuses, if they don't then the agents were trying to get pump up the contracts.

I hope your joking Pro Football Talk is the most unreliable site on the internet.

Sure you can,,, the Cowboys just did it with a mad scrambler for a QB and top tier WRs. Besides, you know who stats are for, right?

I'd agree with the glass being half full though (with the OL being the part that's empty :p: )

That would be known as the Atlanta system.

Worked out well for them.

Tried it in Oakland last year too.

That is going to be a hard one to prove. Given we were top 5 in yards and scoring last year and all.

Teams didn't try to get after the QB because they were afraid of Bill.

Marion Barber paid off opposing teams so he could have 14 rushing TD's.

Often times teams dropped 11 into coverage because our WR's are so lethal.

Oh yeah, Romo's a white Randall Cunningham... those 34 carries for 102 yards (3.0 average) are bound to scare the bejesus out of the rest of the NFL... defensive coordinators everywhere are gonna be looking for players that can "spy" on Tony, just to make sure he doesn't kill them with his legs...

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...
