I have stated this several times don't be shocked after a year or two Mazi Smith is more regarded in NFL circles
as a better player than Carter. One both are talented but Mazi much better attitude and a team player. I also have
stated he may chip in with 5 or 6 sacks.

Anything is possible the draft is a crapshoot. The thing that makes some Cowboys fans nervous about Smith is he played for Michigan and the last player we drafted on the DL in the first round that played for Michigan was Taco. lol

Jordan Davis last year. He is a part time, run stuffing DT that will always just play on first and second downs. He never has and never will effect the QB. For that, Howie traded up 2 picks in the first, and traded 3!other picks with it to get Davis.

Maybe having long time vets like Cox and Graham will help the kid adjust. Maybe going up against the o-line talent they have in practice will wake him up. Maybe not. We will see. Hopefully, he's more Albert Haynesworth then Jerome Brown.

Carter's a boom bust kind of guy. He can be very good, but will he mature? The fact that he didn't take his pro-day seriously raises some flags to me. It was essentially a gamble by Philly for essentially a high, 'free' pick, since they still had their original 1st rounder.

I don't blame Philly for taking him and if he was there at 26, we'd likely have grabbed him due to potential... but those red flags are there. I'm getting away from drafting 'problem players'. We saw it with Bossman Phat. The talent is there, but the off the field stuff can keep them off the field to the point where they never really develop into who they should be.

And if we grabbed him at 26 there would be no threads like this... it would be multiple superbowls heading our way. Thus is the insecurity of being a Cowboys fan.
