God, no. That guy sucks. He's an athlete portraying a QB.

I want our next QB to be like our last. Someone with enough improvisational ability and wheels to extend plays but a guy who makes his living as a cerebral pocket passer.

I don't think Kap would or should be Romo's replacement, but rather as a potential back-up assuming Romo has a couple of years left. I have no illusions that the current regime can identify, draft and develop the next franchise QB. None. It's going to be a painful process.

Where Jerry is concerned, it's extremely questionable if and when he's liable to admit it when he's mistaken or not. Even if he acknowledges as much, there's no telling if he'll do anything to correct the problem. Backup QB is an extremely important position to secure and maintain.

Hopefully, what occurred this year might inspire him to take positive action within the next offseason to address the problem before it becomes any more grievious than what has already been the case. Whether Matt Cassel would be the answer with more time to prepare is highly questionable and yet to be proven. Admittedly, I have my doubts. Certainly, the RB quandry begs to be resolved as well.

We just disagree. I want no parts of the Kaepernick/Griffin style of QBs who are really just athletes playing sandlot football. Call me a dinosaur but I'm not interested in the read option look. I wouldn't even want Russell Wilson here and he's got a ring already.

Honestly, I know you should never go full homer but there isn't anything I'd want over what the Cowboys have had with Romo. He is the perfect skill set QB in the NFL. Pocket presence, mobility, accuracy, improvisational skills, intelligent, tough, heart, leader, handsome. I suppose if you want to get selfish you could ask for a little more arm strength. Maybe a better deep ball.

Also could have drafted Carr over taking DeMarcus Lawrence and had a QB in place that could be like a Young maybe. But to them it makes no sense with a 30 something stud starter with injury issues.

As far as Weeden. If that is how he felt, why spit out stuff about his live arm and great ability being in the system for 2 years?

Give me a break with that stuff, everyone on the planet felt dline was a huge concern for the team and Carr was no sure thing (though I did like him). Now I disagree with moving up to get Lawrence, but if the team felt he was late first round material I understand why they moved to get him.

Agree in all regards...

The one thing I think most of the SB winners/deep into the playoffs have had around them is a full team " special teams/D/O" and a scheme that adapts to the changed NFL. We have not had that in recent years, so we look good in one category, and fail in another when crunch time comes.

Ha, Jerry still thinks Cassel is a viable back-up? The problem wasn't getting him soon enough?

I've long thought that Romo doesn't get enough credit for being handsome.

Mostly I just wish he was 24. Because if 0-7 has taught us anything it's that things are going to get real ugly around here for a while once Romo hangs 'em up.

Jones says that in hindsight, he wishes he had traded for Matt Cassel at the beginning of the offseason this year, rather than waiting to do it after Romo got hurt in Week Two. Jones believes that if the Cowboys had Cassel instead of Weeden as their backup going into this season, they wouldn’t have lost seven straight games without Romo.
Obviously if he thinks Cassel is a viable option at QB shows he hasn't learned any lessons and is still trying to get cute.

Still trying to get cute. ABC: Always Be Closing. This man never rests, always selling something. I'm not buying this Cassel fiasco. Draft somebody in the first round please.

Agreed. There was good reason to believe Weeden would be a decent investment. First round pick that hadn't yet seen a consistent offensive system.

...nobody counted on Wade Wilson teleworking as QB coach.

But i thought the terrible back up qb's were Garrets fault? Why didnt Garret go out and get better back ups?

I agree with everything except the handsome part. If my qb is good and wins games he can be Kyle Orton ugly for all I care.

I think the only viable "dual threat" qb id consider is cam newton. He's the only qb that is a legitimate quarter back that is big, strong, and fast enough to run. I want another pocket passing quarterback after romo is no longer the man.
