Weeden painted what he was the week before he started. He believed in his arm.

Why this idea is that he is a dink and dunk QB exists, I have no idea.

He became dink and dunk due to direction.

Cassel's spastic up and down, attack then conservative approach, that's on the gameplans. Not the player.

You've been here long enough, especially in the off-season, to know that Weeden's main issue, even in camp, was that he was a checkdown machine.

Sure, the Cowboys screwed the pooch even putting him in a backup position. But to feign ignorance on "not knowing how be got titled as a dink and dunk QB" is ignoring every practice report and game he's been in since his employment.

No idea. Just the usual quick draw on every Garrett or Jones thread I guess.

I think Jerry and the staff underestimated how huge Romo was in last year's ball control (and score) offense. Without Romo's consistent third down conversions and red-zone scoring this team's offense is neutered and it's mediocre defense exposed. A better backup QB should've been a no-brainer.

Nah, I don't buy this EGG... If they did, Romo wouldn't have the salary he has. Everyone knows he posted his best season last year when going by QB rating.

The 0-7 record was only partially due to the poor play of the backup QB's.

The defense had a big hand in this.

Special teams had a hand in this.

And I'll say I think the coaching-game planning was way too conservative.

None of that happened except in the space between your ears unfortunately.

Then again, you were one of the main ones hyping up Cassel. So you being wrong is pretty much an every day thing.

He is trying to deflect attention away from a coaching staff that just went 0-7.

That is exactly what it is. We just needed one game and Weeden was here all of last season essentially and had training camps. Now he's saying they should have tried to get Cassell in training camp as if they projected that they couldn't get one game without Weeden? And it's not like Jerry thought Romo was going down this season..

Cut the BS Jerry and stop protecting the scrub coaches...

Draft or free agency, the time is pretty much now.

Knowing Jones, we get Robert Griffin.

That makes me want to cry.

He can act outside this crap play-calling at least.. He's known not to listen to coaches, so maybe just try the do opposite what your told trick..

What he does in this system and practice flies in the face and what he has said and done, in college and the pros. He was a long range scattershot QB at both OSU and in Cleveland. What Holmgren identified as a great quality, I have no idea. But I refuse to believe he was a great fit here, nor were we doing what we could to ensure he succeeded, if that is even possible with him.

Being a checkdown machine can be a number of things. Number one being his understanding of what he was expected to do and then performing to those expectations. Both in practice and in live action.

It is not like he did not have the gun to make all the throws.

All he did was affirm to me a principle I have.

If the QBs eyes are close together, he will have issues. It was the same with Chad Hutchinson.

Again, 0-7.. We needed 1-2 games minimum. Jerry talking that if they had Cassell from the beginning and wouldn't be in this position is utter BS.

Any QB in the league should be able to get 1. The game plans were terrible.

What? I thought the Cowboys had an eye doctor? I'm not really sure what this means?

What should be the appropriate length between each eye?

When did he say this?

http://www.***BANNED-URL***/sports/...y-he-s-skilled-but-i-don-t-see-it-on-film.ece

Is the criticism of Jason Garrett this season fair, considering all the injuries and that he didn't have a quarterback?

Charles Haley: Yes. From all the coaches I ever played with, it doesn't matter who goes down, the next guy gotta step in, take his place and be just the same, effective. You cannot limit the quarterback on what he can do out on the field, especially when you have a quarterback that started for different teams for four or five years. And then the defense, it doesn't matter whether it's one point, three points or a 1,000 points. They cannot let a team come back and win.

Kaepernick got IRed today and might also be available.

There is all kinds of talent that might be available!

I wouldn't laugh at Kap if he was available. He'd add another dimension to our offense. But he needs a guy that can coach him and that just won't happen here with Red and Wade Wilson. It would be interesting to see what he might do with an offensive coach like Payton.

Absolutely not. I don't think a real coach who understands the QB position would touch him with a ten foot pole. He's an athlete, much like Griffin, who had one year based off a fad.

He is not a leader. He is not a passer.

Wow, that's pretty damning..

Not really.

It will get lost around here, where the public idea is that we have handled the position appropriately and it is just those two dummies.

Except then the confusion comes who chose those dummies.

Then it gets even more muddled until people eventually lose interest until they get distracted by something else.

Our fanbase has a very short attention span and an even worse attention to detail.

WAIT, WE GOT A DOUBLE STAR JERSEY?? I AM BUYING THAT!

I won't argue about Kap because I just don't know enough about him and I absolutely agree that the QB needs to be the leader. Someone will take a chance on him and it can't be here simply because we don't have the coaching to either help him improve or improvise a game plan.
