Do you think Philly goes all in on Hurts and maxes him out? Super Bowl winning QB would expect a huge payday. They did extended Wentz to a massive deal and saw how that played out. If Hurts leads them to a Super Bowl win, it would be interesting to see what the numbers would look like.
Tricky sitch for any football team.

They likely will have to break the bank on him...and they'll likely do it this offseason (every year they wait, the more yhe price goes up).

The do have an advantage with their GM though: if the time ever comes they want to get out from under a huge contract, there’s no better GM to do it. There’s no better trader and contract magician in yhe NFL.

Lane Johnson will be 33 next season. He’s been struggling with injuries in recent years. He is on his last contract and Roseman will draft his replacement in the upcoming draft. The rookie won’t start year one, but preparation to become the starter will. Kelce is a free agent and will consider signing a one year deal, but other teams out there will likely be able to offer him more, if he even want to play. Hurts, even if Philly loses the Super Bowl, is going to get a $ignificant contract.
They have kelce replacement in house already. Cam Jurgens. They will draft a replacement for Lane who will likely play a couple more years. He is hurt and still hasn't given up a sack in 2 years , literally. Toughest dude in the NFL. They have the best online coach in the NFL who has stayed on between kelly, Peterson and sirriani. They will be fine. They build, develop and have a strong culture, something that alot of cowboys fans can't comprehend what that can do to a franchise in terms of winning. It's rarely talked about on this board because the fans don't experience it with their own team. Luck, culture , and talent, eagles have all three, cowboys just have talent which doesn't equate to a winning team.

In the video that I watched, Jerry didn't say this year.

He referenced that they paid the price later (past tense). I'm fairly certain he was referencing what happened to the Eagles in seasons after the last time they went to the Super Bowl.

I didn’t read this entire thread because I really don’t care, but his example would’ve been better if he brought up the Rams of last year, not the Eagles. And even if they did, it’s still one more than the zero SBs that JJ has won in the past 27 years.

I'm just gonna say what everyone is thinking....can he just go to the light already? He one of the worst owners in football, in the sense that he cannot stop meddling in football operations.

There’s 0% chance Jerry can name 10 players on the Eagles. He was no idea what he’s talking about. Only makes the Cowboys more of a National laughing stock than they already are
Yeah I wonder if he still thinks Godwin is a player on our defense...dudes such a moron.

Maybe Jerry thinks he can get this team back to being a dynasty when in reality we're just struggling to get back to being in the superbowl . The time to go all in is now and most cowboy fans are tired of this wait and hope for the best approach.

After 2 12 win seasons if the GM doesn't get that, it's pretty sad.

Meanwhile we thrift shop into mediocrity forever. Teams are winning superbowls falling off and rebuilding for more superbowls while we are forever in 2nd round or less

And even then that's still a poor argument. Since the eagles last Superbowl win ( not including this season) they won one division title, and were 1-3 in the playoffs.
In that same time Dallas won two division titles and went 1-2 in the playoffs.

I'm not trying to prove Jerry right or wrong. The issue is about the best approach.

The last thing we as fans should want is for Jerry to return to his all-in (wildcatting) approach to running the team.

The Eagles won a Super Bowl and made it to another one with the all-in approach.

The Patriots won 6 Super Bowls with the opposite approach.

The pre-2014 Cowboys, the Skins in the past and many other teams have tried the all-in approach and failed.

Just because you see some guy win big on 1 spin of the wheel at roulette, does not mean that you should bet all your money on 1 spin of the wheel.

Jerry failed with the all-in (wildcatting) approach from 1996 thru 2013.
- Finally in 2014 he handed it over to his son "cap boy" and they've taken a professional approach to running the team.
- The handoff from JJ to SJ was not really complete until SJ pushed Garrett out the door while Jerry was still scheduling meetings with Garrett.
- The real test of the SJ approach started with the hiring of McCarthy.
- The results are making the playoffs 2 of 3 seasons.

You can’t compare any approach to what NE did, because it is unrealistic to expect any team to duplicate it due to implausible circumstances. That is an exception, what everyone else is doing are the templates

The excuse makers for Jethro NEVER run out of stupid analogies.

The problem as its always been is Jethro.

And this fantasy that he does not make the final calls is laughable.

Eagles are making the playoffs almost every year. Since their Super Bowl win in 2017 they've made the playoffs and had a winning record every season except one. An outlier 4-11 season.

In this 6-year stretch they are the closest thing we've had to the "Patriots approach".

Pains me to say. If Jerrah has such a run of success in the last 27 years then he could talk

They didn't bet it all. Their QB/oline and several other pieces on their starting 22 are homegrown. This guy is going to take this franchise to the ground with him.

Jerry, this is one of the most blatant lies you've told. One of the reasons for the constant mediocrity is you desperately flailing to stay around .500. You have failed to look long term now for years. If you're doing it now, and there are some signs pointing that way, then it is the first time in your tenure as GM.

If you are truly looking long term, then this should be your plan:

1. Look for a QB. For whatever reasons, Dak hasn't worked out. 7 years, Jerry. Time to look ahead.
2. Stop w/ the foolish fetish w/ WRs and CBs. Want to know a huge reason the Rams won it all? Aaron Donald, Greg Gaines, Bobby Brown drafted and AShawn Robinson signed in FA. Strong D trenches are what bothered Burrows all day.
3. Keep dumping contracts of underperformers. Good start last year, now keep going. Hey, if you want to keep Z, fine, offer him 5 mil/season for the next 5 years. One time offer. At that salary, he'd be a good player.
4. For all that's holy, quit drafting CBs and WRs just because they are tall. The number one quality for these two positions:
CBs: Mirroring ability. Need the skillset to stay glued to the WRs hip.
WRs: Route running ability. Height doesn't help if you can't get open.
5. Quit drafting ballet dancers and potential for the OL and get us some mean maulers up front. In the 5th round, KC just traded up for Darrian Kinnard in the last draft. A huge mauler. And...............he just came up big in the champ game.
6. We got Hankins, and look at the difference already. When he's in the game, the other team gets around 3.5 YPC. When he's not, 5.5. Whatever you do, DO NOT rest on your laurels. Start looking at bid dudes w/ a good build and quick feet. Not some skyscraper who can't anchor in the run game, some dude build like a fire hydrant who has some movement skills but cannot be pushed side.

THIS IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!!!!
