Skins wouldn't be interested unless he was wanting a 15 mil signing bonus. ;)

I'm sure Greg would agree to that-- reluctantly...

I actually feel hes been a changed man this offseason and might be headed the right way. Example, instead of going after the Dwight Freeney, Nate Clements of the league he managed to control himself by signing underrated players who performed as All Pros in our system before.

Exactly what players "performed as All Pros in our system before" did you sign?? I've looked and looked, and can't find a single offseason signing that was ever "All Pro"...

I know he was tempted to make the Lance Briggs trade but I like the fact he restrained himself from looking like an ***.

It was the cap dynamics this year that FORCED the Skins not to be players in the free agent market, not some sudden restraint on the part of the Mad Midget... there were too many teams with too much cap room available for the Skins to be major players this offseason...

Besides Roberto Garza and Mike Wahle, none of these guys are anything more than decent.

The Skins have a first round pick, second round pick and a third round pick. Considering that we have arguably one of the best offensive line coaches in the game, I'm pretty confident about whoever the guard we draft next year will be.

Oh, you think the Skins will finally get around to drafting for offensive line depth next offseason?? I'd suggest that will only happen if Gibbs retires...

Dont know if hes changed or not, but the signs indicate towards him being a different man. Resisting the temptation to make blockbuster deals after a sorely dissapointing season is not very Snyder esque.

You do know that Snyder tried very hard to steal big Leonard Davis from the Boys this offseason, don't you?? Bigg even went to Commanders Park for a visit, and Danny Boy reportedly offered him the same money that the Boys did, but he turned around and got on a plane and signed with the Boys...

Even so, I repeat that his financial restraint this offseason was forced on him...

Allen much preferred veterans over draft picks, too... he was known for trading away picks...

sb, I know this, but it is one pick traded away likely 2 drafts from now.
A 5th next year or a 4th, two years from now.

To bring it up like they have traded away all of their picks like even previous recent years , was just pointless to me. I have always stated that if giving up draft picks fills an immediate need, then it is less of a gamble than the draft. Now what they did with Duckett last year was just ignorant and disturbing.

you're - it's still just 2 words.

even more a shame the biker owns a 4x4 truck and never a cycle, but hey - you stereotype YOUR (proper usage here) way though life. my apathy will kick in now.

I'm a Jeep man, too, ice... had a couple of 'em over the years... would like nothing better than to be able to trade in my Cherokee on one of the Wrangler Unlimiteds...

But like Danny Boy, I'm possessed of a new-found financial restraint... IOW, I can't AFFORD to go down that road...

You really think that stopped Snyder? Technically we've been low in cap space every since Snyder took over. Peter King has predicted cap hell for us every year yet Snyder found ways to sign whoever he wanted.

And this offseason, more teams had more cap room than EVER before for the free agent market, while the Skins were bailed out of "cap hell" by the new CBA...

You can live in lala land if it makes you happy thinking that Snyder couldn't sign anyone because of low cash/salary cap.

And you can live in lala land if it makes you happy thinking that the Mad Midget has finally gone out and bought himself a CLUE... LOL...

Every year....every year! Ask around ES, or ask the RedStink trolls here...they are SuperBowl bound...every year!

How could they not be, with the best offensive line in football, perhaps the best offensive line EVAH??

A run of no playoff wins? Gotcha, great recovery from "cap hell".

Hey, it's taken a while, but we're gettin' there... you can't honestly tell me that you think the Skins are moving in the right direction these last couple-three years...

It's also a continuation of a pattern we've observed since the Mad Midget took over your team... that's the point we're making...

Gibbs and the Skins pay lip service to the need to hoard their draft picks, but when they start to press the panic button, suddenly those 4th or 5th rounders don't seem so important after all... this has been their modus operandi for some time now...

Out of 36 how many would you say are valuable ? 6 maybe ?

I see what you are saying, but to cherish them (picks) like they will likely be high impact players doesn't make much sense to me.

Skins give up a 5th in 08 or a 4th in 09, which either way, right now, is the equivilent to a 5th. A 5th rounder for a starting LG who is proven in the league. I don't see how that is so bad.

How many of Dallas's 5th round draft choices are still with the team? I may be wrong, but at first glance I count.....one. Pat Watkins, who ironically was so bad last season that he had to be replaced with a FREE AGENT.

Still determined to miss the point, I see... the point is it's that reliance on high priced free agents instead of building through the draft that has left the Skins with little to no quality depth...

Kendall is gonna cost you guys 2.7 million this year, no fifth rounder would come CLOSE to that... obviously, using the draft isn't gonna work if you don't draft WELL...

As for how many of the Cowboys' 5th round picks are still with the team, you're right that it's only Watkins from the last 7 drafts... but the Boys have only HAD four 5th round picks in that time (that's the round they seem to be most likely to trade their picks, but they have had their full complement of picks-- or more-- in each of those seasons)...

At the same time, besides Watkins, two of the other three 5th round picks they've had are still in the league, one of them a starter-- Pete Hunter, and Matt Lehr... so of their four 5th round picks since 2001, three of them are still in the league...

Seems you CAN find quality players in that round, if your scouting department is doing its job... and of course, we haven't even discussed the number of later round picks (6th and 7th) that have helped the Cowboys over that time...

Monte is not so much infatuated with this board as he is with me.

Finds me VERY sexy. And Since I don't go to other sports boards he has to come here to find me.
