He's better then anything they had no doubt. I'm no skins fan, but it certainly would appear to make them stronger in the line then what they were. That doesn't mean he would start for Dallas in the least, it just means that he was better then they had. Question is will he even get thru the season. This fellow is tough as nails, but tough as nails doesn't help when the flesh is weak.

He is old and has little time left in the league at an effective level.

Let me remind you of a little trade that speaks volumes about your organization.

in 2004 washington traded their 05 fifth round pick to the eagles for wr James Thrash. the skins insisted they needed a wr and another player in the now, the team and the fans said oh its just a 5th rounder giving no value to it.

Well the Eagles used that 5th round pick on Trent Cole. Cole is a better pass rusher than anyone on the Commanders roster still. On top of that the Commanders had to give a boatload of money to an end who can not rush the passer in andre carter.

Keeping that 5th round pick was the better smarter move for the skins.

Time will tell on this one, if you win the superbowl and have a top 3 rated running game (which I believe you will) then it is a success, but if he gets hurt or is awful and the team is .500 and misses the playoffs then it is another instance where young talent is not an option.

and to top it off, if the Skins weren't so reckless w/ their draft picks, they could have used a 2nd or a 3rd on a quality OG prospect, but alas

We get trash talked when we overpay but they when we decide not to do it we still catch heat. Kind of a double standard huh?

the difference is that we actually overpay for good players w/o hurting the cap, and which we are able to re-sign our core players later

Trading for a guard is similar in what way ?

Allen much preferred veterans over draft picks, too... he was known for trading away picks...
