PFT: More Pacman Vegas Trouble

No, he's not the caliber of Jordan but ANY celebrity helps the casino

I guess we will just disagree. I think the vast majority would not know who Pacman was or recognize him

I read where Jerry was seen in a Vegas casino last weekend. Don't know if there was any truth to it.

Perhaps Jerry was out there trying to work out a deal. :)

Guess, he cant Make It Rain anytime soon either. That will keep him out of trouble. We need a make it rain smilie.:showme:

What I don't agree with is the DA gave Charles Barkley a couple weeks to repay the debt of 400K, but it appears that once the casino went to the DA he was hell bent on an arrest warrent for PacMan who's debt is 20K...

This is from ESPN...

The Clark County, Nev., district attorney's office is requesting a felony arrest warrant for Pacman Jones for failure to repay $20,000 in gambling debts at a Las Vegas casino, the Las Vegas Sun reported.

The DA's office sent the request, along with a criminal complaint charging Jones with fraud and theft, to Justice of the Peace Joe Bonaventure on Thursday. Bonaventure had not signed the warrant as of late Thursday, according to the report, and Jones' agent, Manny Arora, told ESPN's Ed Werder that Jones intends to repay the money within a few days.

The complaint alleges that Jones has not paid back three markers, two for $5,000 each and one for $10,000, that Jones obtained from Caesars Palace on Sept. 3.

Executives with Harrah's Entertainment, which owns Caesars Palace, asked the bad-check unit of the district attorney's office to open a criminal case against Jones on Feb. 12, according to the report. Unpaid casino markers are treated as bad checks in Nevada.

Arora said the NFL office has been made aware of the facts in the dispute and does not believe the episode should impede their efforts to convince NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to let Jones take part in the Dallas Cowboys' offseason training program, or reinstate him for the 2008 season.

"We've informed the league and it is my sincere hope that it has no impact on the reinstatement process,'' Arora said.

Of the situation, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said, "We are aware of it, and we are looking into it."

Jones has agreed to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in a case against a man charged with a February 2007 shooting that left a strip-club bouncer paralyzed. He pleaded no contest in district court on Dec. 6 to a gross misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge stemming from the incident. His sentencing has been put off until he testifies in the shooting case.

"Even though Mr. Jones is a witness for the state, he is not above the law," district attorney David Roger said Thursday, according to the Sun. "He will be treated like any other person who violates Nevada's bad check laws."

But Arora called the gambling debt "a non-issue."

"We've been in constant communication with the district attorney's office about giving us some time to pay back the debt," Arora told Werder. "The only delay was we tried to liquidate assets on behalf of Adam to raise the money since he wasn't receiving a salary and it took longer than expected. The debt will be paid within the next few days.''

Harrah's spokesman Gary Thompson declined to comment Thursday, according to the Sun.

Earlier this week, the DA's office said it was prepared to charge former NBA star Charles Barkley if he did not pay back $400,000 he owed to another Las Vegas casino. Barkley has paid the casino money back, and no charge was filed.

But Roger said it was premature to say whether his office would drop the criminal case against Jones if he repaid his debt, according to the report.

"We've given him a lot of latitude to make restitution, and he has failed to do so," Roger said, according to the Sun. "And he has another case pending in the criminal justice system."

So if someone wrote me a bad check for $100 could I get an arrest warrant out for that person to repay the debt?

So what is PFT saying?

PacMan can't pay his Vegas debt because he's not working, so he's going to get slapped by Goodell again because he didn't pay a debt?

Hmm, I don't quite get that one.

Pac Man is an idiot, always has been and idiot, and probably always will be an idiot.

Big mistake getting this loser on the team.

True.

We'll see. No new trouble since the trade and he became a Cowboy. His past will take a while to get behind him. Everything that has been said about him is that he has now a changed man.

i really dont see the big deal in this unless Pacman just refuses to pay it back...

How do you know that hasn't already happened?

$20,000 is peanuts in Jerry Jones world. He would have made sure Pacman paid this debt ASAP, espcially since a similar story just showed up last week with Barkley.

i think it is the media trying to blow something up as always. His name will be brought out if he stepped on an ant.

Yeah and whether we think it's ridiculous or not he can't be stepping on any ants at this point in time.

Roger Goodell says so.

I agree.

I think it will get settled pretty quickly.

You just hope that it's not reason enough for Commissioner Almighty to do anything to that keeps him off of the field.

I think the issue is Adam was supposed to stay clean. Do you think going to Las Vegas and running up a debt he couldn't pay shows good judgment esp for someone with his problems and current status with the league? I think the people who are going after him are pretty cold though. On the other hand it is remarkable what that does in motivating repayment.

This occurred in September 2007. Obviously that wasn't a good decision. But since the screw up which led to his trade, he's been clean. At this point, Vegas DA aren't in any mood to cut him a break on anything. Especially since the DA has stated they might continue to pursue the matter, even if it's paid.

I'm just surprised it hasn't come out sooner..

League looking into Pacman matter

Earlier this morning, we brought you the Las Vegas Sun report that suspended CB Pacman Jones has a $20,000 gambling debt to pay off at Caesar's Palace in Sin City. The league, too, has learned about the circumstance.

"We're aware of it and we're looking into it," said Greg Aiello, the NFL's senior vice president of public relations.

When asked if this could affect Pacman's effort to return to the league, Aiello responded that "We're not in a position to know yet, and we won't be until we get all the facts."

I also put in a call to Jones' Las Vegas attorney Robert Langford, who was quoted extensively in the Sun's story. A receptionist informed me that Langford will have no further comment on the matter today.

I just heard on the Michael Irvin Show that this may be a probation violation.

Now I am not sure if they are saying just him owing the money is the violation or that if he is actually arrested then it's a probation violation.

Was he on probation for something back in September 2007?

Do we have a lawyer in the house?

I do know that just having police contact is a violation in some instances, but not sure of all the details on this stuff.

Exercising judgement requires two functioning brain cells to fire against each other.

That might be a stretch in Pac Man's case.

I guess one quick way for "vegas" to get their money bakc.. embarass the players a little in the media and the money will come back in no time... corporate vegas, gotta love it!! not.

Thanks for letting us know. Here are more of your gems.

Newman is not a good CB and a waste of a top 5 pick.

That is the unavoidable truth.

We'll never win a Super Bowl with Owens on the team.

Karma is a ***** like that.

I think when all is said and done the TO signing will be considered yet another example of this team giving big money to players in their 30s that they shouldn't have.

:)

Anything else you want to inform the board about?

Had to add this MD quote talking about T.O.

Huge mistake signing this guy in the first place.

He hasn't even done anything and has already become a huge distraction for this team.

.

The incident did occur in September of 2007 and every day he did not pay it back kept the issue alive. Bad judgment to get into the situation and worse judgment not to get it taken care of before today.
