The Cowboys should seriously consider telling Zeke to just take the 6 games now...and to use the time to get in better shape for the 2nd half of the season.

And Zeke has been notified of his suspension as well. The supposed rule is supposedly for competition, not the player, so in Vaccaro's situation, that should still go to the next week...going by the "rule."

But we still have no evidence of a suspension being delayed in it's execution due to this rule as far as I'm aware.

It's still not the same. Because the choice to apply the suspension was essentially up to the player. Vaccaro decided to drop his appeal. If Elliott dropped his appeal today and the lawsuit, he'd be immediately ineligible.

And you also used Payton as an example and he was already inactive that week as he had been for the previous four weeks. So it doesn't apply.

Do they make a ruling just based on briefs?
Is there no hearing? Does the judge not get to ask questions about what he read in the briefs?

They can (and almost always do) rule on the briefs only. If they want clarification, they can request that.

I have no idea what's on their docket or when they expect to rule. I think the NFL requesting to leapfrog other cases might actually make the court want to wait. Which they league may want so they can hold the immediate suspension threat over Zeke's head.

I wish the court would rule so we have a better answer. They will almost certainly rule in favor of Zeke (92% historically), but just do it now.

yeah just give up and take the hit....... "thank you sir may I have another"

maybe Dak can volunteer to sit a couple games for the DUI charge he got in college
I hate this old saying but it does apply in our world. "He who has all the gold, makes all the rules". I'm all about justice and yes this is about the NFL over stepping their authority as much as a player who may or may not have stepped over their rules. As sad as it is, many people who have been wronged much worse by the legal system, never get completely vindicated for what they are actually innocent of when accused.
Ultimately I'm not Zekes keeper or personally involved and I truly think Zeke is a good kid and no one but 2 people and the Lord above knows what happened with his DV situation. However I do have a stake or interest in the team and what's best for the DC.
Lastly, I did not say that I would walk away but considering it for the teams sake and perhaps Zeke's as well.

It was bandied about, but was apparently wrong.
It was sooo wrong that the nfl all of a sudden said he could play that week and every major news network said the same thing? Some are easy to be mislead.

Basically, this is going to be a weekly thing with them until the 5th Circuit rules on their stay request. The NFL will publicly state that Elliott's suspension could start every week simply as PR to remind everyone that he did something wrong in their eyes.

In other words if the 5th Circuit rules in their favor on the stay today or Monday, they'll immediately suspend him, while ignoring their own precedent, as another PR show to try to get people to believe they really are tough on DV.

I am also sure there's a bit of bitterness at play here with them knowing they've been made to look like a clown show over this ordeal by Elliott's legal team.

Does Mara control the NFL PR department?

Goodell doesn't seem to care that the NFL's own rules state that if you are on the roster by Tuesday, you get to play.

Honestly...Elliott should sue Goodell...in a civil case...for slander. Was never charged...or convicted. But the entire league (Goodell) has made it out that he is a wife beater. He will never clear his name now. And that is gonna cost Elliott money.

I seriously think he has a case...and could win millions.

To me we have moved past the actual facts of the DV case and into the realm of Due Process

If Zeke hasn't learned his lesson by now then he never will.... he doesn't need to miss the 6 games to have the message tattooed on his brain

But he needs to fight for the general principle of being railroaded.... he can't let Goodell's behavior stand because the next guy will get it even worse

The Cowboys and Zeke need to sack up and use this as fuel and not let it be a distraction..... this is a critical time in the team's history whether they know it or not..... they need to come out of this unified and not pointing fingers

So easy to suggest when it is not your name being dragged through the mud

Exactly.

Why would anyone who pleads innocence take a suspension that not only admits that you committed D.V., miss 6 games and paychecks?

He would be the face of the DV world in the NFL.

There's a reason why he hired attorneys, so they can fight this battle while he trains. It's up to him to not let this be a distraction.

The player would not be in control of it. If the so-called rule is there for what people say it is, then it wouldn't matter. If the suspension becomes active after a Tuesday, then it goes in effect the following week. Until someone can actually show any actual evidence of this rule, I'm going to assume it never existed, even if just as a practice and not a written rule.

As it is, people are just adding rules to an already undocumented rule that has no evidence of existence.

This is about Zeke and IMO trumps the needs of the team or fans. This is his personal livelihood and it is only a decision he can make. No one should expect him to accept guilt for something he feels he did not do.

yes but even he should know its hurting his team - or some body tell him

take 3 games it over with

then next year rush for 2500 yards

IF the team has issue with it then they should tell him to step away while he fights the NFL. I doubt that is the case or his teammates feel it is. Regardless it is 100% up to Zeke as it should be.
