The more I read about this situation, the more it seems that this was perfectly orchestrated so that Jerry Jones walks away with that first pick and possibly Darren McFadden.

Alright, you want Ireland (assuming Ireland is going to go anway), we want appropriate and suitable compensation.

Sorry if this has already been beat to death in the thread, but if the NFL is satisfied that the GM Parcells hires will have final authority, then they don't need permission to talk with Ireland. It will be up to Ireland to make that decision and up to Jones to persuade him to stay.

Why isn't Scott Pioli the frontrunner for the Miami GM job?

He's been much more successful AND he's Bill's son-in-law. I know I would love to get the best PLUS have the added advantage of bringing family closer.

Even if Ireland is the target, I would think the most likely Dallas loss will be Sparano.

Even if Bill retains Cam Cameron, I can see Parcells setting up the assistant coaches so he can begin implementing his schemes when the time comes to cut his losses.

If anything, Capers may be the first coach scrapped due to his aggressive D scheme.

Well I heard this morning on Mike & Mike that Cam Cameron has ties with Bobby Knight from when they were at Indiana. Bobby's real high on Cam, and we all know about Bill's relationship with Bobby. I have to think Cam will get at least 1 more year.

I just hate that Bill made such a big deal about Sean Payton going after our guys and now he's doing the same damn thing.

BP only made a big deal about it w/ one player, when Payton tried to sign Keith Davis, because he didn't talk to Bill about it, Bill didn't mind Payton signing Copper, Petitti, and trading for Scott Shanle

If you're talking about Davis, this is an entirely different situation. Parcells "allegedly" is asking for permission to negotiate with Ireland. Parcells wished that Payton would have called to see if the Cowboys would match Davis' RFA sheet to save both sides some money. We had no problem with Payton taking Gary Gibbs with him.

This is kind of an unprecedented situation where a front-office type is being pursued by another team while under contract.

Still the point remains, it seems Bill is looking for the league to give their blessings in his pursuit, and not going through the Cowboys. If Bill has talked with Jerry about it, and someone knows about that, please let us know. But why would he go through the league if Jerry gave his permission?

If Jerry hasn't given him permission to talk to Jeff, then he has to know that Jerry will do what it takes to keep him. That makes it feel like the Davis situation IMO.

can you give it more than a day? Parcells just talked to Goodell today, at some point he's going to have to inform Goodell that he's trying to negotiate for Ireland's services
