PFT: Pickens wants to remain in Dallas but says his value has increased

Let's not kid ourselves. He wants PAID.

Big BIG dollars from Jerry.
Can’t blame him for that. He’s right in the fact his value hss increased. The qurstion isn’t his value as a player so much getting paid effects that ability to me

What 30m dollar guy is it that you want?

Hendrickson?

You think Jerry is going to go sign him?

That’s the only defensive player out there close to $30m

Pickens in the best free agent in the market period.
I was not responding to you and that was not the question I asked! 1 for 30, 2 for 15 each - makes no difference. Our cap is overloaded to the offense and we will not win anything that way!

Its a risk no doubt about it
but letting go of a player like this should be a very well researched and reasoned decision by a competent front office....

oh yeah

forgot for a moment
They know more about how he was in locker room, practice and his overal behavior. In a perfect world a team would use that info to make a sound decision. Jerry doesn’t work that way though

you must don't understand market value and the "brotherhood!" $$$$$$$$$$$
Oh I do, you don't,

the market value for a WR2, that's your problem ,you're trying to classify him as a an elite number one starter, here, or anywhere else that are already paying highly for the clear starter, who right here is CD lamb, but if he went somewhere else like say you went to Detroit you really think they're going to pay him and St Brown both that kind of money ?? no,

the teams that are going to bid on his services to be number one would be the ones that don't have a clear number one right now, the same way we were in 2018 when we got Amari Cooper, we gave a number one for him, and turned around and gave him $22 million a year, which at that time was top five money, it was very high up there.

Here in Dallas the scenario has already been set ,it's like Cincinnati it's ,like the Eagles, the clear number two wide receiver market the market value is under $30 million, so you add inflation it's around thirty million dollars...

Not sure how you all keep looking at this as if we should pay him like he's the starter, like when Lamb got paid, he was the best receiver on the team ,and there was not already an existing contract, that would prohibit him getting market money for a starter, that would be A WR1 that spot's already filled here That means the market is WR2 that market is under $30 million that is the Brotherhood you know the brother over there named T Higgins and Waddle and Devante Smith they're all making under 30 million so how is it you keep arguing with this one it already is available to you,

I already posted the details his worth here in Dallas and other places where they pay two wide receivers,

It's very clear if he wants to be here he has to take 30 million or less if he truly wants more money and it's all about the money,

Then yes, he would have to leave, and I would not hold that against him nor would I hold it against Jerry, that's just how the cookie crumbles sometimes, when there's a salary cap and we could use the $30 million and a first round pick, If it comes to that, I'm totally fine..

Look only half that is true literally it's a negotiation and they use like the last five contracts that come up with the franchise tag average and that usually sets the market there's a reason they call it market value they're looking at past contracts matched with past production but you also have to look at what you are already paying out per position on your current team under the salary cap.. I don't know what you're trying to say?

They all have a big part in it whether they take a team friendly deal or they try to get maxed out... It's a process it's it's a economy in sports they have to treat it like it my real friends waiting for me so market it has its own values that are set over time and yes some people break them some people fall in behind them it's really there for production and what can you fit under what the cap is really a budget and yes you can break your budget you can rob Peter to pay Paul you can move money around put it in void years but in the end if a player like this wants to stay then sometimes he has to take just a little less than somewhere else where he goes where there's going to be variables what kind of quarterback do they have what kind of other guys around him are going to help pull coverages can he be successful somewhere else..

First Pickens in his 8th and also look into OK if I take 30 million here I get offered 34 million elsewhere They have to look at the cost of living and the economy in Dallas you know taxes and what not versus where you're going there's a whole lot of things that factor into this Some players are smart enough to know they might be better off taking a little less to stay where they're at because they've now been successful when he left Pittsburgh it wasn't the same he had a different reputation He wasn't as productive.

So now he's going to have to go and decide whether pushing for an extra four or 5 million elsewhere is the smartest thing to do..

There is a market AWR 2 even at the highest scale is under $29 million and that's what he is here if he wants to be WR1 elsewhere I don't blame him but that's the only way he's going to be getting over thirty million dollars is going and being on his own as awr one...
The owners all get “team friendly” deals for the first four or five years of a players career. That’s the “deal”. The players that get that deal never got to vote on whether or not they like the “deal”. At a certain point in their careers, if they’re still playing, it’s time for the player friendly deal.

Owners are not ashamed taking advantage of players in their initial years. The get anti-trust protection from the Federal government for the system in what would otherwise be considered, say, “not the American way”. When the boot is on the other foot it should promptly go up every NFL owners’ greedy ***.

you must don't understand market value and the "brotherhood!" $$$$$$$$$$$
You do understand this right that most teams have a clear number one who gets the biggest contract and then your market shifts to OK you're the second receiver on the team you're up for a contract you get that market that market is Under thirty million dollars.

Realize if he took $30 million he'd be the seventh highest paid receiver in the NFL you know every receivers are in the NFL on 32 teams probably too many to count let's just say there's 200 he beat top seven somehow you think that that's a bad thing you guys are being gas lit by the players that that they're all underpaid he would be paid well especially Given the fact that he's not the clear number one that's CD lamb I understand they both can be considered starters but that's not how it works lamb already has his deal that means he'd have to take a little less...

That's it that's all we're saying you guys act like that's a low ball that's not the market but it is the market literally the top 10 receivers in the NFL Only 7 of them are making over thirty million dollars.
And I'm betting most of those guys are the clear number one on their teams..

Any of this talk about team friendly lowballing it's too cheap why would he take that he'd be stupid that's kind of odd flex given the fact that he'd be 7th on the list in the entire NFL In wide receiver money.

It seems like if you want to leave for more money that's OK but I just don't see how that extra four or $5 million is going to help if you go to a team that's maybe doesn't have the same set up with the quarterback and he gets coverage pulled with CDLAM you know the whole deal like he left a bad situation does he want to do that again$30 million is not a slap in the face that is market value how is it not market value Even starters in this league are making less than that....

Cowboys needs Pickens on this roster. I've seen life without Pickens on this roster before and it had me believing Jalen Tolbert could be enough for opposing defenses would respect this offense's productivity.
Really first of all that wasn't this offense but if we're going to go there then maybe we should go to 2023 I mean I want you to tell me how did CD Lamb have a record year with no protection on the other side How did Prescott have an MVP caliber year under Mike Mccarthy's Texas Coast Offense with barely a run game to be found..

hilarious the word need being thrown around like it's abo indole no prescott's been part of plenty of top offenses in this league and so has CD lamb.

Is it nice bonus to have a guy like Pickens on the other side but I'm sorry did not look over there and see a losing record Yep I sure did and by the way it wouldn't be Tolbert you're gonna get a receiver in the draft because that's exactly what their plan was If tetorial Mcmillan AKA TET would have been there George Pickens wouldn't be here we were gonna get another receiver on the other side he just was taken before we picked...

though they pivoted him made a trade it was a great trade but you cannot overpay a man because you think somehow, he's tied to the success of his team even though we only won seven games last year...

Yeah I don't want to hear how we need him and we should overpay him no the market says he makes $30 million That would make him the 7th highest paid receiver in the league and the fact that we have two of those top 10 receivers on the same team that's all I'm offering the man if not this team can go in the draft and get another wide receiver because we're going to get a 1st round pick that'll give us 3 1st round picks now we can turn 1 of those into multiple picks and save $30 million to build the rest of the team you act like that's a bad thing now you're one of those fans that's just like big names on the team but don't realize how they fit if they ask for too much money..

How is it low balling if you're offering him the 7th highest paid receiver contract in the entire NFL to be Part of a highly paid duo I mean he's already here it sounds as if you guys just want Jerry to pay $35 million to a guy just because?

Now I'm still not seeing it because even with many games that were great for either Lamb or Pickens together when they're both healthy at the same time they were not setting records as a matter of fact it seemed like it was tough to figure out how to feed each one of these guys without having one get all weird because yeah it did get weird george Pickens disappeared in the Detroit game he's had balls bounce off his hands he kind of loafed on routes Maybe he needs to go somewhere and be the guy..

I would love to keep the guy but it just bewilders the mind that you think we need him we have had plenty of top five offenses in this league without him in 2023 there was no protection no run game no other guy on the other side that scared anyone and they still set records matter of fact they scored more touchdowns on offense that year and still less interceptions I just don't get where you think it's an absolute like a blank check moment is insane..

How do you know that he's WR #2?? Did you see the season he's had, he's more than capable than being a #1 and being paid as a number one, and he's YOUNG!!!!

Im not reading that other dudes editorial but Pick would be a #1 on more than half the other teams.

This season confirmed his status as top shelf.

People wanting so badly to pay him. #2 money aren't going to talk it into existence.

I just skim through it some times if I feel like it and get a few nuggets from it. Not sure how someone can make such a long response every time to a person's reply!!

He's surely going to get top money, do people really think he's going to say hey agent 28 is good enough, hell no. Their goal is to get their biggest deals when/if they can!!! They tag him ok, but during negotiations, he's going to say he wants probably more than Lamb

Freud probably has a term for it.

Because if he remained on this team that's who he is.. How are you keep getting off the subject of him remaining here he would be paid like a number two just like Waddle just like Thiggens just like Devante Smith etc etc

How does that matter I already said he would be the 7th highest paid receiver in the entire league out of hundreds of wide receivers even if he only takes $30 million to remain here but if he remains here he is WR2..

That's up to him you want to take team friendly deal remain a number two then you have to stay in that range..

But if he wants to leave I won't hold it against him and the Cowboys will benefit big time with a 1st round pick and turned into multiple picks and an extra 30 million to throw around there's nothing wrong with either scenario but it's been discussed to death I said this when he was first traded for I said this scenario was gonna come up and if it did happen where he had a great year then he most likely would leave and it was not a big deal the Cowboys could benefit from it he could benefit from it.

But I'm over this this has been discussed to death like I said I brought it up when he first was brought over and I brought it up throughout the year don't be surprised if he left because he's going to want to be a number one somewhere and that's not a big deal but you can't be paid like a number one with the Dallas Cowboys because we already have that guy I don't know how to got to keep saying that if he wants to remain here like he's discussing then I'm thinking he'd be OK with top seven wide receiver money $30 million is not chump change It's top seven money out of 200 receivers in this league there may be more than 200..

you keep saying #2 I don't understand your infatuation with saying this, but ok if that's how you see him great. I'm sure with the season he's had and his agent trying to get him the biggest deal, he'll want #1 money he deserves it

The key is really prolly using the draft to try to salvage the defense. You just need to get it to 17th-21st in the league and this team can compete. We just need to be realistic about the jump this defense can make.

I like what I'm seeing from Ezeiruaku, and Clowney. I think next year can be a new year for this team, especially with a healthier Overshown--and hopefully a competent coordinator.

Because here in Dallas if he wants to remain, he gets number two money ON THIS TEAM at WR2, and by the way top 7 money is number one money, there's a bunch of number ones who make less than that,

I don't see how you keep trying to twist this,

hey wait a minute I just figured this out you're David Mulugheta, Now I see why you're trying to run up the bill...
Here on this team he'd be a number two anywhere else yeah he can go get number one money but even as a number two here that's number one money that would be number seven on the wide receiver money list how is that not number one money when there's 32 teams with multiple receivers on it how are you not seeing this unless oh that's right you just want to argue...
There's no doubt he can go somewhere else like the environment he did not like with the Steelers and he could be on his own the number one receiver he can make $5 million more somewhere else possibly but not have the protection from CD Lamb or the quarterback or the offense willing to feed him the ball he could do whatever he wants but if he remains here he gets paid $30 million and how is that a slap in the face again it's top 7 money that is number one money it's just here he has to take less number one money to remain if that's what he chooses to do that's my point he might want to think about that and the cost of living and the taxes and what else dallas compared to wherever he might go.

Now again I'm very cool with this I'll take it give me the number one in the $30 million and I'm not crying you guys are going to cry you're going to find another way to make this all about Jerry when it's going to be all about George Pickens and David Mulugheta,

They're the ones that have a choice to be made they already know that we pay that much money to CD Lamb and they know $30 million is top seven money both those scenarios are good he could stay here and still be rich and still get to put up big numbers or he can leave..

It's not on Jerry,

jerry should not offer him a dime over 30 because it doesn't help this team Having a great offense did not help last year Whole lot of second half where there was a lot of complaints about the lack of scoring from the offense in the 2nd half of games in the 2nd half of the season when they were both healthy so I'm OK with him leaving.

i'm also OK with him staying for thirty million either way I win..

I'm not sure you're agreeing with me or not but you do realize we have no second or 3rd round draft pick That doesn't leave us a lot of opportunities also up against the cap not a lot of opportunities trading George Pickens for A 1st round pick that can be turned into multiple picks I mean you imagine what we could do with 3 first round picks and an extra $30 million?

That is my point you can't afford to offer George Pickens any more money than being paid the top WR2 money he'd still be 7th in this league for wide receiver money I don't think that's a bad offer if he wants to leave then you get a 1st round pick and a lot of money I think the Cowboys win either way as a fan I win either way i'm going to be OK with either scenario I don't see a losing option here and I think some people will they'll be hating Jerry for poor George Pickens only being lowballed giving him the 7th highest paid wide receiver contract in the NFL would be a slap in the face because they hate Jerry and you guys want to pile on Jerry and I wouldn't do it either...

That's all I've been saying you just like to argue every point I guess so you have an excuse to write a lot of stuff! Just because you feel he's a #2 doesn't mean he feels that way. I'm sure he feels stronger than that, and I swore he just said his value has gone up

By the way, you pay Pickens. I can see Dallas trading a player for draft picks to build the defense. It has to be done. We can't have another year like last year.
