DeKalb County, Ga., police are looking for suspended Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones this morning to question him about an incident involving gunfire near Interstate 285 in the suburbs of Atlanta.
According to DeKalb County public information officer Ariel Toledo, Jones is not currently believed to be involved in the shooting, but is someone police want to talk to for information about it. No charges have been filed against anyone in the alleged matter.
“At this time, we don’t believe Pacman Jones was involved in the shooting, but we are looking for him to talk to him about it,” Toledo said.
Police responded to shooting after an alleged fight at Club Blaze between Jones and his entourage and three other people.
The incident apparently spilled outside the club and as one group of people left, two other cars, a black Pontiac Grand Prix and a green Dodge Charger followed the first group. Shots allegedly were fired from one of the vehicles, and people from another vehicle fired back.
“The shots were fired from one of the cars and the victims then shot back,” Toledo said.
Jones is no stranger to trouble at Club Blaze. It was over an incident there that he was questioned by police regarding a fight at the club just days after being drafted by the Titans with the sixth pick overall.
Monday’s alleged incident would mark the 11th time Jones has been a person of interest in a police inquiry since being drafted. He currently has charges pending in Fayette County, Ga., from a 2006 felony obstruction of an officer charge and has been recommended for charges in a Las Vegas strip club fight that escalated into a triple shooting outside that bar. However, he has not been linked to the shooter.
Jones was suspended for the entire 2007 season for his misconduct by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in April, a suspension he appealed, but then dropped last week.
