News: PFT: Report: Cowboys getting calls about Darren McFadden

Oh I get it...
When McFadden plays poorly it's his fault.
When McFadden plays well then it's the offensive line that gets credit.
Sounds like he can't win with your logic.

The math isn't too difficult. The line paved the way for a good back like Murray to rush for over 1,800 yards the year before, when McFadden was still in Oakland running for 3.3 yards a carry and getting benched.

And then he comes here and is suddenly a 'great running back'? Yeah, that's the part that doesn't add up.

This line makes running backs. If you'd care to debate that, let me know.

Jackson has decent games playing with a shoddy group of lineman. And unlike DMC who seems to go down when someone slams a door in the stadium, he actually runs hard.

Jackson is averaging 3.8ypc...
Those are almost the same as the McFadden numbers that people reference to say he is garbage.
Not saying McFadden is awesome...but so far haven't seen awesome from Jackson either.

Tonight is Jacksons time to shine. I'm pulling for the kid.

You must really hate the Zeke draft pick and the Morris signing then.

Jackson has not had much time with the ones, most of his running has been with Shotgun Blast Showers and the likes of Looney, Green, and the other back up OL. DMC also has a pedigree Jackson does not.

Yeah, but 3.3 is significantly less than 3.8.

Here we can certainly agree.

The trench players always make the sizzle players look better. QB's and WR's etc do not win SB's the hardnosed nut and bolt trench players do.

Those two boys were the best part of the off season. Illiott will be a great Cowboy and Morris will get the 3 and 1's when it counts. Good Cowboys.

Why is that?
You said "the line makes running backs".

Couldn't our line make a back like Alex Collins and save us the 4th pick in the draft.

Btw. I don't disagree about the line being very important.

Yeah, for the record, I though Elliott was a luxury given how good this line is.

McFadden is running behind the starting OL.......Jackson is running behind backup OL.

Jackson got 1 carry with the starting OL against Miami.......went for 20 yards

Wow, Jackson sure sucked. I guess he needs a great OL to average better than 2.3 yds per carry. Yup, he's ready to roll more so than McFadden.

Over an entire preseason Darius Jackson now has 40 carries for 141 yards for 3.5 YPC average.

Rod Smith was the best back in the game tonight and he was moved to fullback.

Not the kind of production you want to see out of a guy who you would be cutting the 4th leading rusher in the league last year over....regardless of excuses and attempt at minimizing McFaddens production.

Kind of disappointed in the kid overall. Just seemed to lack some vision.

Other then tonight Rod Smith has been outplayed by Keith. It's funny you guys think 1 game is better then 4 games in preseason. Jackson was at 4 yards per carry until tonight but excelled in catching the ball. 3 catches over 30 yards and a TD tonight but funny you failed to mention his receiving and blocking which he is better then Rod at as well.

I clearly gave you his stats for 4 games. He didn't have 4ypc coming into tonight's game. He had 3.8 ypc.

3.5 ypc over 4 games isn't going to replace McFaddens 4.6 ypc and 1000+ yards from last year.

3.8 yds per carry. But he is more reliable than McFadden (the McFadden of last year, not the one injured in Oakland you keep bringing up).
Ya Mcfadden of last year isn't the Mcfadden of Oakland......so how has McFadden looked in training camp and preseason games THIS year?

So what about Darius Jackson has you so in love?
Please tell me what you see that makes you overlook is obvious lack of production.
Is it his vision, agility, cuts, burst???

Or is it your love of his scouting combine stats with a general hatred of McFadden?

McFadden is getting less then 1 yard more a carry then Jackson. Sounds good right but Mcfadden ran with the starting OL where as Jackson has produced behind 2nd and 3rd stringers that won't even be on the team next year.

Jackson did get 1 carry with the starting OL against Miami though.....he was only 20 yard run that was called back on a bogus T Will holding call that had no effect on Jackson's run. Taking that in to account his stat line is just under 4 yards a carry even with his 9 for 21 night tonight.

Let's look at his recieving stats again this is against 2nd and 3rd stingers

5 catches 56 yards and 1 TD so an average of 11.2 yards a catch. By the way Jackson's TD is more TDs then Mcfadden got in 16 games last season catching the ball.

Only took Jackson 5 catches to out produce Mcfadden in the catching stat.

Yep Mcfadden had 1,089 yards 3 rushing TDs last season because of the OL.......he is so special haha give me a break
