Rumors of trades and free-agent signings abound every year at the NFL scouting combine, but most years the sports writers at the combine don't share those rumors with their readers until they move out of the "rumor" category and actually become news.

So it was a little surprising (and refreshing) to read Jason Reid of the Washington Post write today about a rumor that he and Jason La Canfora of NFL Network "both were busy checking out" in Indianapolis.

Reid writes that the rumor is that the Commanders would send quarterback Jason Campbell to the Buffalo Bills for safety Donte Whitner and a draft pick.

The rumor isn't actually likely to come to fruition, and the Commanders are indicating publicly that they plan to bring Campbell back. Still, Reid writes that he wouldn't be surprised if Campbell isn't back with the Commanders in 2010.

Campbell becomes a restricted free agent next week, and the Commanders are expected to tender him an offer of $3.268 million, which would entitle them to first- and third-round draft picks as compensation if he signs elsewhere.

Sam Bradford, welcome to the NFC East. Wearing a truss isn't likely to save you.

Why would any team trade for Campbell? They can just wait until Washington releases him. And if a team did trade for him they aren't giving up a player and a draft pick.

Commanders are not going to release him

I hope they keep him.

He stinks. The kid can't put up points.

Hes a better QB than Eli Manning, he has no offensive line at all.

I am thinking that Shanahan will give the kid a year to see if he can make it work. Skins need so much that it would be stupid to go after a QB now. They can get a top LT at that pick.

And remember this is the daily turd- probably just another smelly log.

That was one of my predictions back in September.

The irony of Bradford playing for the Commanders ....

You spout off so much nonsense like this that it is literally impossible not to think of your age or take anything you do say seriously. The worst part is, age isn't an excuse. Dale was a Mod on our forums at 17 (I actually think he was at 15) and he flat out knew the game. It blew people away to know he was so young.

It is pure folly to say Jason Campbell is better than Eli. Manning isn't a great QB by any means, but ...

Campbell is a horrible QB. He has proven that in his time in the NFL. The only time the guy has success is when you give him a play where he has very little thinking to do. Zorn did that and it worked for the first few games until defensive coordinators figured it out. After that, Campbell had to read the defense and make decisions like a real NFL QB and he just couldn't do it.

I don't care what is happening around him, if a QB is good, there is no way his offense looks as inept as the Commanders offense did last year.

Very nice guy, but he simply can't think and see things fast enough to beat NFL defenses.

Either bradford or Clausen...

Either way we're golden cause they're both going to suck and they're both going to set the Commanders back another 5 years.

Campbell has had multiple valid excuses:

1- A new system every year
2- His top wide receiver is Santana Moss
3- He has a pathetic excuse of an offensive line that college D-lines could wreck havok on (an exaggeration but not far from the truth)
4- Heck the best asset the team gives him is an slightly below average running game, atleast it isn't terrible!

Campbell has had all the negative things against him, and in Eli Mannings career he has had alot of the greatest things you could ask for. Is Eli Manning a better QB than Campbell? You bet. If put in the same situation Eli Manning was for his entire career would Campbell be a good QB? I'd put my money on it.

So to clarify that was an exaggeration I have posted it before, but Jason Campbell is not a bad QB, you can put almost any QB taking those snaps and that team will still lose.

QB is not there biggest problem, infact I would bet if you broke down that team it would actually be one of the stronger points of the team :laugh1: Honestly during this draft if they go QB they are making a mistake, take Okung or trade down and grab multiple top O-Line prospects.

Eli moves to the Commanders, would Campbell start?

Campbell moves to the Giants, is Eli headed to the bench?

If you said yes to either option then you are out of your ever loving mind.

Not a chance, but lets say Eli was moved to the Commanders I don't believe that would do much better than with Campbell taking the snaps and if Campbell was on the Giants and Eli went down with an injury I don't believe that they would do much worse. (Im not saying they wouldn't do worse, they would but it wouldn't be as extreme as everyone is implying)

People on these boards act like Campbell is a joke of a QB like say; Jake Delhomme.

My point is they need to protect the house before building it, you build your foundation first. The foundation is the o-line, but I must say we are blessed the Commanders will more than likely take a QB in this draft, just another year we will destroy them for.
