SHORT LEASH ON PACMAN

Posted by Mike Florio on November 23, 2008, 11:30 a.m.

Though he has been reinstated, Cowboys cornerback Pacman Jones faces some stringent restrictions on his ability to remain in the NFL.

The full scope of the dos and don’ts aren’t known, but Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that Jones is required to continue intensive rehab and counseling on an out-patient basis, and that even the failure to attend one scheduled session would result in a lifetime banishment.

Jones is eligible to return to practice on Monday, and to play on December 7, at Pittsburgh.

Commish wants pacman to fail.

Yeah, I agree. I mean, you look at all the times that the Commish has allowed Pac to come back, its a definite sign that Roger wants Pacman out of the league.

For the average player or person, these are easily obtainable goals.

For Adam Jones? We'll see.

I look forward to the end of this debacle.

I'm with you tomson I just want him to go away.

On a side note I wonder if Jerry will let hang out on his own or will Pac have to live in a team furnished apartment and live on what Jerry doles out to him? I know the security team will be gone but what about the other safeguards he had in his contract?

It is. And it is going to be sad to see people defend him when he goes.

I can just see it now......

To make it easier, perhaps someone could draw up some sort of 'Defense Menu'.

Just copy and paste your selections when the time comes.

Appetizers - (served with choice of wine)

Goodell's Cowboy Hate
Media's Cowboy Hate

Main Menu - (also served with choice of wine)

World Out to Get Pac
Done Nothin' You Aint Done
Pac Needs Our Help
Player's Want Pac

Dessert Menu - (incredibly, served wtih even more wine)

Give Pac A Chance
Happy Now Our Best CB Is Gone?
What About Leonard Little?
What About Belichek?

Thanks for choosing from our PacMan Excuse Menu. We're alway's looking for ways to better serve you. Our suggestion box is located near the door that PacMan Jones was just shown.

If he doesn't have alcohol issues then why is he getting counseling and rehab for it?

Truth is, anything's possible, but I wonder what Adam Jones' solutions will be to obstacles which could get him booted from the league? Example: If I were Adam Jones (shut up 5Stars!) and found myself late for a scheduled appointment according to any agreement with the Commissioner, I wouldn't attempt to call a counselor or another teammate or Jerry Jones, etc., to explain or provide an alibi. I would try contacting Roger Goodell directly and explain myself.

It may not work, but it would show maturity which the commissioner could respect and see that I'm trying to salvage my career. Still, this is Adam Jones in question and I doubt that he has it in him. The Hard Knocks segment with Deion Sanders and him on the boat, where Sanders suggests to him that he should have contacted Goodell in person to thank him for his first reinstatement and his visual disgust at Sanders for even saying it to him is a huge red flag of how my suggestion wouldn't even occur to him. The more likely reaction would be, "I was late. So what? <curse> you." :(

Why? Who would be to blame for his failure?

he put himself into a difficult situation with very limited wiggle room. With people on a constant watch out for him to slip up the higher the odds they catch him slipping.

But it's not an impossibility. Like I said, the average person can do it. Adam Jones can too.
