sooner or later i think some team will intentionally try to hurt brady. so if i was him i would be taking extra precaution.
I do too, because basically that is what Belicheck is inviting. I will hate to see it too. The kid is having a year for the ages. I'd hate to see it cut short, but I think someone will do exactly that.

Hos you forgot to wink your eye;)

j/k, I couldn't help but laugh this morning when I watched the Belicek interview. Someone asked him, "why did you go for it on 4th down and you were up 38-0", and he said, "what do you want me to do, kick a field goal? It's 38-0"...........

If you'e good enough to start knocking Brady around with your pass rush at your discretion, you really should have done it in the 1st quarter.

You may not want to risk blitzing so much Brady before the game is out of reach. You can knock a QB around, though, while he dissects you, and send a message of your own.

I want to hear one good thing about making your team quit in the 3rd quarter. How does playing half arsed football prepare your team for a championship run, exactly?

I would love to hear your defense of the fourth down call.

I want to hear one good thing about going for it on fourth down in that situation.

Wht were Skins trying onside kicks at end?

They were routed. Godfrey needs to talk to his defense before he projects at BB.

The only thing worse then being a classless jerk is being a quitter.

You can't blame any team for battling to the end against the odds.

According to the WP, Gibbs had no problem with what the Patriots did:

Joe Gibbs said:
The Commanders did not openly complain about the fourth-down play. When asked what he thought of it Gibbs said I have no problem with anything that they did. Nothing. No problems from me."

I can understand your anger behind it, however unfortunately, I agree with Belicek.....I mean if you kick a field goal, you are still putting points on the board, so why not practice your 4th down play in a real time game situation.....I don't like it, but I can see why he did it......

Bellichik is dead wrong on this. Godfrey is right. I hate the skins to the nth degree, but you have to show some respect. Bellicik has an agenda with the NFL. Hey Bill, don't mess with the NFL. The NFL can always call out their Steeler/Seahawk super bowl referees. After the Pats performance today vs the skins, I wouldn't be surprised to see every call go Indy's way next week. You know, sort of like how mysteriously every call went against the Cowboys. I think the refs might be looking real close at the Pats Offensive line. You can find holding on every play in the NFL (if you look closely enough, wink, wink).

Have you been watching the games? The Patriots get every single call even while running up the score, and it is in the NFL's interests to have the Patriots win, simply because the last 3 Super Bowls they won have been put into question. Do you think the NFL has no interests in having the Pats win? I didn't even watch the game, but the one TD by Moss, he clearly puyshed off the Commanders corner, even though the Commanders obviously suck.

That is why Troy Aikman is even making stupid comments, such as this shows that Spygate wasn't the real reason the Patriots won... Uh sorry Troy, but this is a totally different team...

On a side note, if your going to turn the ball over 4 times in poor field position, than your going to get blown-out...

That's the thing, if he kicked a FG I would have no issue with it at all. It doesn't look like blatant rubbing noses in it.

Not anger, disgust.

They had the perfect opportunity to practice as many short yardage situations as they wanted.

Instead of throwing deep they could have run short yardage plays. They keep doing it regardless of down and distance and the D is going to start playing to stop the short yardage play.

They get plenty of "practice" while running down the clock and not looking like a bunch of classless jerks.

I live in New England and am surrounded by Pat's fans (most of them proud Pat's fans since 2001).

What I am angry about is hearing the kids around me defending both the the cheating thing and the running up the score thing. Then they hear their hero taking little to no responsibilty for either.

Any possible good the Pats realize from thier actions is far outweighed by the bad.

Karma will catch up to them.

In one of these games, someone will hit a defenseless Randy Moss, or roll up on Brady and take some guys down with them, and ruin their season.

If they keep running up the scores, I actually hope that does happen.

And I never wish injury upon other players.

This is the risk that he faces when he keeps his starters in games that are blowouts. One gets hurt, and he will be asked about it, and I would think the players would wonder what they are doing out there in a obvious blowout situation when one hit can end not only your season, but CAREER!I also realize that it is the D's responsibility to keep the other team from scoring, but there is also a humbleness that can take the place of rubbing someone's face in it when they are clearly going to win a game. I seriuosly hope that someone get's banged up in one of these blowout losses late in the 4th quarter and see how his players respond then.

I was disgusted when it happened to us, and it kind of makes you wonder, "how did the Pats get to this point"....I mean they were so terrible all those years back when they had Grogan.....Eventually they will meet their match, and someone will put them out of their misery....We had our chance and were devastated by penalties and a lack of execution....The Pats arrogance is high, but it's just a matter of time.....

Some will think that the Patriots are classless and others that it's strictly business. However, we are all kidding ourselves if we think that Belichick would just let $500k roll off his back with the spygate affair.

This situation has turned personal and all teams that NE plays this year will incur their wrath. The team has a mission and plenty of fuel with which to stoke the fire, not to mention the personnel to effect the "prosecution" of their remaining schedule.

It certainly seems that this current method of madness is meant to intimidate and demoralize upcoming defenses. This pre-emptive strike at the pysche of upcoming opponents gives the Patriots a decided advantage, effectively putting teams on the defensive before they even take the field.

One can only hope that the Colts survive the initial onslaught and push them for sixty minutes. It's not always good for a team to ride roughshod over the entire league without challenge.

That said, i'm onboard with FootballOutsiders...we may be witnessing something historic...the most prolific offense ever assembled in NFL history...we'll see though...the season is'nt over yet.

The underdog Indianapolis Colts will face a "very" stiff test at home this coming weekend.

How many fumbles did Campbell have? That sure did nothelp the score, right?

If you give the ball to the other team 4 or 5 times and they score....? So what?

The last Pats TD was cheap, but, what do you expect out of them at this point in time. What goes around comes around, so they say.

Teams will remember the 2007 Patriots and how they piled up points against their opponents.

The Patriots will not always be the top dog. It might be a couple-few years down the road, but players and coaches do not forget. And when they are on the decline, teams will run it up on them just out of spite.

I just hope Belichick and the Pats understand when their time arrives. And it will arrive.

What comes around, goes around.

Uh...it's not like the NFL was picking on the cheater Bellicheck. You certainly sound like you are somehow trying to make that case. That is not factual, if so. Bellicheck was CHEATING. He is less than a man for doing it and should have been banned from the league permanently. By not doing so, the NFL shows it has no backbone. It is a sad state of affairs when a man who does such things remains in charge. In Tom Landry's day, no one would have had ANYTHING to do with the cheater Bellicheck after this and he would have been blackballed.

Disgusting.

Hey, I have an idea for a mission...try not to cheat to win.

Running up the score was classless, like going for it on 4th. But whatever, karma... goes around... you get the point.

But the calls going for the Patriots are just insane. They get free reign to do whatever their cheating hearts feel the need to. That's what really irks me more than anything else. I don't think there's a single thing that Belicheck wouldn't do if he thought it would give him an advantage and he'd get away with it. If he seemed honestly sorry for doing what he did against the Jets, or even said, I won't do it anymore, I'd have a different outlook. But he's got the standard cheater attitude about it. Oh, I didn't KNOW it was against the rules and then gets all pissy about everything. Whose to say whatelse he's done/doing?
