Maybe he was just having anxiety about getting tested. Lol
I don't buy the anxiety problem causing you to get high. Just an excuse

Yeah, just about every heavy weed user out there claims its controlling some ailment they have.lol. At least own it like my ex father in law, dude smoked all day long, why? Cause he liked it.ha

Honestly I'd cut him. I have 0% trust in this guy

This makes no sense.

The upside completely and utterly outweighs the downside so cutting him at this point would be just be a bizarre move. What's the worst that can happen? He smokes more pot and gets suspended again? Great, then cut him. There's no point in cutting bait at this point.

his next step is a 10 game ban and he will make that step. so he will soon cut himself and more than likely cost other people their jobs.

My bet the front office and support system might have been much different had he not severely sprained that ankle and was having games similar to the intial Gents game.

Just my .02.

Yes, that's exactly what's going to happen.

You realize that a large number of players in the NFL smoke pot and get away with it right? So I really doubt some player is going to come here because he sees that Randy Freaking Gregory smoked pot and got away with it for awhile before getting suspended by the NFL.

Holy hell.

Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory will miss the first four games of the 2016 regular season. The Cowboys understandably aren’t happy. “This is a disappointment,” Cowboys executive V.P. and COO Stephen Jones said about Gregory’s suspension, via Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “We have been clear with Randy about what his responsibilities are…http://youwillnotrackme2.net/b.gif?host=profootballtalk.nbcsports.com&blog=&post=2380615&subd=nbcprofootballtalk&ref=&feed=1

yup sure is, there's a reason why our franchise is called a country club lol. randy Gregory got caught before the draft and got caught 3 freaking times in one season, his rookie season. Josh Gordan 2.0. And we are gonna keep this bum on our roster.. He knew what he was doing when he was smoing he knew the rules , He was willing to smoke up and sacrifice 6 game checks.. He is not worth it.

Total overreaction. But I guess that's to be expected from some Cowboys fans.

This stuff happens all over the league. I know for a fact a former Philadephia Eagle was caught a few times by the team smoking pot and they did nothing either (a friend was a business investor with him).

There's no downside here. None. If he fails another test, then yeah, you send him packing because at that point he's staring at a 10 game suspension and that's something that hurts the team. But at this point, cutting him would be beyond stupid.

Except our franchise isn't called a country club.

Every NFL roster has players on it who partake of substances. The Cowboys situation isn't new. We took a risk on a talented kid with a dependency issue, and early on, it's backfiring. It doesn't go farther than that.

In fact, I just saw a few weeks ago an HBO Real Sports segment and they were talking about this same thing........... how pot smoking is actually fairly rampant amongst NFL players, in many cases as pain management.

And I can bet you a crap ton of money that there are guys in the NFL right now who have been caught smoking pot by their teams like the Cowboys caught Gregory and they don't do a whole lot about it either.

All sports.. Not just the NFL.

HGH is also rampant but the tests are so easy to pass.

You got guys like JJ Watt almost breaking records in stuff like a box jump.

yes cutting a guy who fails drug tests back to back to back after having failing a drug test right before the combine, you know pretty much sacrificing your future is beyond stupid. he had no sacks this season was hardly a factor. and you are right there other teams out there who sign players with bad reps.. Commanders, Browns and the Raiders.. lol take a look at the browns .... we are doing the same crap they are..thank god we passed on Johnny boy..

So, he has an excuse built into his contract? Anxiety? Maybe the team is at fault for drafting such a loser.

I am sure of it! I really hate him.

These are the future leaders of our team that Jones is assembling. Dez Bryant and Randy Gregory? They had better take a QB with that 4th pick or this team is completely toast once Romo is no longer useful.

Dez Bryant has done a lot for this team, and cares about winning, Randy Gregory cares about smoking up.

This thread is about Gregory, not the coaches of the front office. There is an entire forum dedicated to that topic so feel free to take it there. Otherwise, keep this about Gregory.

I'm not.

The support group's role is pretty simple. "Randy, you absolutely, positively can't smoke weed if you want to play in the NFL." That the extent of anyone else's responsibility in this mess. It's what cost him millions in the draft and all of the humiliation that came with it. Nobody knew those consequences better than him

The sickening part is that it didn't just happen one time, but multiple times.

After his pre draft bust, he has now been busted 3 separate times since then correct? So he is basically failing any and all tests they give him? So he is basically stoned all the time? So he either doesnt care or is so addicted and immature that its a lost cause? This will be the perfect excuse for Jones to draft a DE and not a QB in the draft.

Oh, I see this depth of experience viewed doesn't include quite a few from the Cowboys paste, just since Jerry owned the team.

Bipolar is nothing new...as it first requires medication and then counseling. The Cowboys now have a five ringed Hall of Famer who went through the process. And he can giver direct guidance and leadership to Gregory now, face to face.

Uh, Dez Bryant is still a top five receiver and Tony Romo hasn't missed a beat as the leader of the team. He just was injured, as all players become at points in their careers.
