I feel sorry for the guy. Imagine having anxiety like that where you simply cant make the right decisions. Where smoking pot becomes more necessary then pursuing your career? I wish him luck in his struggle. Lets hope he beats the odds.

I wouldnt cut him. Too much invested. You cant just cut the chord. You are in it now. The best thing you can do is support him until you decide to cut him.

He needs help. Alot of it. It is very sad. someone who is willing to lose out on all that money.. its just he made Jerry Jones look like a fool. and now we have to go all out and get another DE because of this crap. I mean even before this happened we were looking at upgrading the DE position. I Just hope we can somehow get Vernon from the Dolphins in free agency

It will be like taking a 2nd round pick and a 4th pick overall on a DE. The guy better be Bruce Smith. And you have to love these guys that dont want to draft a QB because he wont play for a few years. How much of an impact is a DE going to make his rookie year? They are lucky to make in an impact in their second years. See Lawrence.

We got three 1st round talents in last year's draft. How'd we do last year?

And before anybody tries to twist it, that's not a knock on any of their abilities. What it is referring to is the fact that even great rookies will have a limited impact on a team's fortunes right away. And you're right, it's well documented that rookie pass rushers seldom make a significant impact.

I wouldn't get your hopes up on Vernon. I strongly believe that the Dolphins are doing all they can to keep him, including using the franchise tag if they have to.

Yep...................3 rookies and none of them did much. Just look at he results. Now I do very much like the guard and the safety should be a solid player. But they wont start making any kind of real impact until possibly the 2nd half of this year. And if we we dont get a real QB for after Romo, they can all kiss their careers goodbye in Dallas.

true.. but the franchise tag for a defense end is 14.8 million and they have 8 million In cap space.. I know they are trying to make room with Wakes contract. but still that's a lot to eat up. and there offense line is downright horrible.. plus I doubt they restructure there qbs contract seeing as that would be guaranteed money, and there not sure about him.

You can't be serious?? Collins is a beast and started almost the entire season. Dominated at times as well. How is that not making a real impact??

I know its false. IM looking at our team. we haven't done crap in 20 years. because of guys like this. Jay Ratliff? ring a bell? T.O? yea he did good for awhile but than all his teammates got sick of his crap. Greg hardy.. heres your answer he was signed one year, TEAMMATES got sick of him being late all the time to team meetings , and he pretty got to still play so yes it does divide team chemistry, and I said randy Gregory was sacrificing HIS FUTURE. The good teams with players who screw up all the time.. are WINNING. We aren't. its been proven for quite some time now. its not like failed one drug test, I cant say it enough he failed 3 drug tests . Right after he screwed up his draft stock.

So you think cutting "bad" guys is the way to go then? That the Cowboys shouldn't touch any players with a shred of a bad history.

So let's dump Hardy. Also dump Gregory. Probably should dump McClain. Bryant should be dumped too given his problems in the past. Scandrick failed a drug test. Cut him too.

that's cute. they all have produced. lol Hardy most likely isn't coming back. and mcclain before his 4 game suspension was an absolute beast last year! all those players you just mentioned also give 100% in the locker room .well besides Hardy lol. some players are worth the risk.. I believe Hardy and Gregory are not those guys, especially Gregory since he doesn't give a crap and decides to pull a drake and go back to back lol.. mind you if this was his first offense id be all for giving him a 2nd chance but this is his 4th damn time in 1 year.. and he was a non factor for us last year. sure he could bounce back from this but I doubt it.

You've yet to lay out any logical reason to cut him. There has to be a downside here for the Cowboys in keeping him for him to be cut. What is that downside? Spell it out clearly.

Here's what I see. One, he's cheap because he's on a rookie deal. Two, he clearly has a high upside at a position of need. Three, the worst thing that can happen is he fails another test and gets cut for a minimal cap hit. Four, it's not like the Cowboys were handing him the starting job, they know they need to sign/draft some DEs so it's not like the Cowboys have put all their eggs in the Gregory basket.

So considering all that, why do they have to cut him?

"....the Cowboys necessarily failed to provide him with the resources and assistance necessary to keep him from continuing to fail tests."

What about a freakin' paycheck? That couldn't keep him off the bong? It's not heroin.....

He's averaging a yearly salary of $954,000 or $18,000 a week.

If somebody handed me a weekly check around $18,000 I would be high as a kite. I wouldn't come down for a week, just about the time they handed me another one.

I agree, he is getting paid big money. Hell where I worked once they said their will be random drug test I stopped smoking weed because it was not worth losing my job over and believe me my yearly pay is no where close to what Gregory gets

to send a darn message!! he cant be be trusted its obvious. he is cheap yes. but he's a damn headache, he had no sacks last year, was hardly useful, yes he was injured but he did play most of the season. and im sure Jason Garrett believes that also. because he didn't want him! now hes going to miss 4 games next year. and he has also put more pressure on himself which causes more anxiety.. which is why he smokes.. hell David irving did more than him last year, hes a guy who has some upside and he played less!!

LOL.

A message? What message? Other than maybe a wakeup call to Gregory, it sends no message whatsoever to the team. You really have gone completely melodramatic on this. It's bizarre that you have such a strong desire to cut this guy, a guy that you clearly doesn't believe is all that good anyway and isn't good enough to keep around.

So in one hand, he stinks, but on the other hand his being cut would send a message? How does cutting a guy you think stinks and is an apparent headache send a message? You send a message when you cut a productive player because of a transgression. Cutting a guy like Gregory who had accomplished nothing and smokes pot (that I think almost all his teammates know he's done, some have probably smoked with him) is nothing more than a roster fodder move you see all the time.

The only thing this team accomplishes in cutting Gregory at this point is ensure that there is no chance ever they might benefit from sticking by the guy and seeing this through another season.

He was solid, but what impact did he make? Im not sure that guard is really an impact position. Was the running game off the chain or something? Beardeau or the other starter would have done fine as well. Its also hard to make an impact when the line was already the best in the league before you got there.

Cmon, you really want to cut him after this? Not smart. Too much invested. IF he continues to screw up, as he probably will, then fine. But now is way over the top. If you were going to give up so quickly, then he never should have been taken. They made a commitment to him and need to see it through.

Cutting a guy like Bryant after being suspended for drugs might send a message. Cutting a guy like Witten for a failed drug test might send a message.

Cutting a guy like Gregory sends no message. Well it sends one message............. that the Cowboys screwed up another 2nd round pick. That's about the only message it sends.

You just said the line was the best in the league before he got here right? Well he was better than at least one of those lineman as a rookie right? To me that's pretty good. I call that making an impact.

right.. cutting a 2nd round player who pretty much has shown he doesn't care would send a message. ex players who have played here have called this place a circus. im starting to see why now. but this guy screwed up 4 times; this year alone. im sure the players on our team are going to have to answer for this clown, and im sure some will be by his side because he is a teammate, but others wont bother.. him missing 4 games next year and now we have to focus more on DE because of this pothead.. you say I have gone melodramatic.. he failed 4 drug tests!!! wont don't you get?

Ok, lets start with the facts:

He didnt even start until half way through the season. So he made no impact for half the year. How about you look up his guard ranking for the games he did play and lets deal in facts?
