yes cutting a guy who fails drug tests back to back to back after having failing a drug test right before the combine, you know pretty much sacrificing your future is beyond stupid. he had no sacks this season was hardly a factor. and you are right there other teams out there who sign players with bad reps.. Commanders, Browns and the Raiders.. lol take a look at the browns .... we are doing the same crap they are..thank god we passed on Johnny boy..

Now you are just talking nonsense.

Denver just won the SB. With guys like Talib, who is a notorious bad guy with assault charges, and on the field suspensions for dirty play. TJ Ward was wanted for assault after throwing glass at a woman in a strip club. Von Miller has had drug issues and some other issues in the past.

I'll say it again because it's not sinking in. There are "bad" seeds on most every team in this league - whether that be guys wanted for assault or others that just smoke a bit too much weed.

And by the way, I want you to explain how keeping Gregory for another season and giving him another chance is "sacrificing the future"? Sacrifice what future? Are the Cowboys going to be unable to win because of Randy Gregory?

Talk about being melodramatic.

Personally, I thought it was a good risk. But a big risk none the less. And when you are desperate like the Cowboys, you almost have to do these kinds of things. Now if this guy really cant stop smoking dope, that is pretty sad. Its often hard to imagine that someone would throw away their entire career and millions of dollars so they can smoke pot. But I think that tells us just how much of an issue he has. Sadly enough, I wouldnt cut him now, but I wouldnt count on him and you can almost bet that he wont be in the league in 2 or 3 years.

Dez Bryant has done a lot for this team, and cares about winning, Randy Gregory cares about smoking up.

Dez is a great talent, but he is NOT the type of leader this team needs. Michael Irvin he is not. Bryant needs to grow up.

But, as you point out, he is not in the Gregory category.

im talking about Gregory sacrificing HIS future smoking pot before the combine??.. all those guys you just talked about have proven they can play. Gregory didn't fail one drug test, he failed 3!! count em 3 times!! he has proven he cares more about weed than playing. now he isn't going to be able to play in the first 4 games. which does possibly hurt us. now we have more needs because of his wrong doings. You include Von MIller but since the day he came into this league he has torn it up. Gregory didn't even get one sack. IF Gregory would of showed a lil something this year maybe I would change my opinion on the matter.. but 3 times back to back to back.. in one season.. homeboy pretty much also gave up like 180000 in paychecks.. that's just crazy

Totally was a risk, but as you said, a risk worth taking.

If there was the possibility of real damage to the Cowboys here, then yes, you should cut him. But reality is there is no downside at this point to cutting him at this point. Could he smoke himself out of the league in a few years? Absolutely.

and that's where im getting at.. I have 0 % trust in him and im sure if he became a free agent most teams out there wouldn't jump at signing him either.

Again, you are just ranting and not thinking straight.

I'll ask again as you keep ducking the questions. What is the downside to holding onto him and seeing if this suspension changes his ways? In what way is Dallas "sacrificing the future" by holding onto him and seeing if they can reap some benefit down the road?

PS - My point about guys like Miller and Ward was to counter your silly claim that only bad teams have bad apples. That's 100% false.

or we can sign more guys with more problems and they will look at this situation and be like "hey he got away with it , why cant I?

What exactly did Gregory get away with? He's been busted three additional times and is now suspended for four games. He didn't get away with anything.

After his pre draft bust, he has now been busted 3 separate times since then correct? So he is basically failing any and all tests they give him? So he is basically stoned all the time? So he either doesnt care or is so addicted and immature that its a lost cause? This will be the perfect excuse for Jones to draft a DE and not a QB in the draft.

It sure looks that way, and if they pass on the QB in favor of yet another DE, it just makes things worse.

Im sure people would sign him, but it would be at low cost low risk contracts.

Gregory was one of my favorite guys I was hoping for last year. But after this, I have already turned on him. To know that he has failed 3 more drug test over the last year tells me how pathetic it is for the guy. I cant possibly get my hopes up for him at this point anymore. Why be disappointed?

It will be like taking a 2nd round pick and a 4th pick overall on a DE. The guy better be Bruce Smith. And you have to love these guys that dont want to draft a QB because he wont play for a few years. How much of an impact is a DE going to make his rookie year? They are lucky to make in an impact in their second years. See Lawrence.

I know its false. IM looking at our team. we haven't done crap in 20 years. because of guys like this. Jay Ratliff? ring a bell? T.O? yea he did good for awhile but than all his teammates got sick of his crap. Greg hardy.. heres your answer he was signed one year, TEAMMATES got sick of him being late all the time to team meetings , and he pretty got to still play so yes it does divide team chemistry, and I said randy Gregory was sacrificing HIS FUTURE. The good teams with players who screw up all the time.. are WINNING. We aren't. its been proven for quite some time now. its not like failed one drug test, I cant say it enough he failed 3 drug tests . Right after he screwed up his draft stock.

He was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. Some people smoke dope to cope with that. Its probably not something that is going to go away. And you have to think his suspension and now pressure from the fan base and disappointment from the team is only going to increase his anxiety. It is the type of thing that is more likely to snowball than go away.

The 2nd round is still where this team always screws up. They reach, they get desperate, they take chances. All the TE's they took that never panned out. Or they will take an injury prone defensive player (Lbers) or a guy that drop for one reason or another like Gregory.

I feel sorry for the guy. Imagine having anxiety like that where you simply cant make the right decisions. Where smoking pot becomes more necessary then pursuing your career? I wish him luck in his struggle. Lets hope he beats the odds.

I wouldnt cut him. Too much invested. You cant just cut the chord. You are in it now. The best thing you can do is support him until you decide to cut him.
