Furthermore you have an UDFA who was forced into action before he was ready and actually had some good games if you believe PFF. He was replaced which was a no brainer by a first round choice who....against all odds....took Costa's job. Now who would ever imagine a first round choice beating out an UDFA? Stunning development huh?

So there is absolutely no reason for anyone to crow about saying an UDFA is going to stay in the league long term. It's 90%+ odds they won't make it. So taking curtain calls over following the odds and crowing when they predictably come true looks more like look at me; I predicted something that almost always happens. I'm so smart. Where's my medal???

Forgive me if I'm not impressed nor most of the fan base here.

As far as pulling for the guy, of course most of us did as we should. He's got the uniform on so he gets our support; except for the few who just want to strut, troll and generally be negative. I guess I'd call them fans of the dark side more interested in being all about me than being what most fans are....being about the team.

Give us all a break for awhile. Your act is old and consciously divisive and disruptive which appears to be the goal.

I think this is not the point of the "puff chest guys." Everyone will acknowledge that every NFL team will have some positions that are filled by JAGs. Of those JAGS, there is likeyl a rank order. If you can upgrade - you do. Identifying those players isn't too hard. The irritant for some is that many will fall in line with the Jim Jones juice the FO pushes by saying - "We're set, we like what X brings - gonna be fine there." Then people argue that the scrub/Jag will be fine, and then extrapolate it to "not a need".

What I like about Risen assessments is that he is unemotional about the assessments. Nobody will hit 100%, but many times the organization will tell you the BMW emblem glued on top of a 1990 Honda civic is a true M5. I love to bet games, and if you want to be decent at it, you have to be honest in looking at teams and players.

Between March 13 and April 20. Mad respect if it is that easy of a revelation for him and he is that much of a stand up guy.

I am not to ashamed to say that I would have jaked it and cut to keep the $450K. 1 month of weightlifting and dieting would make me give that up.

I never understood why Costa was such a hot topic around here honestly. If memory serves, there was a small group of vocal posters who felt he was starting caliber (granted, some of the most vocal thought he might be pro-bowl caliber). I never thought the guy could be a quality center in the league, perhaps a decent back-up. But, his failure is something to get all riled up over? I don't get it, it seems a stretch for a bunch of people posting on a message forum.

I never saw one post by anyone that thought Costa could make it ever claim he would be a Pro Bowler. Pretty sure that was hyperbole from the haters...

It is funny how we do get so caught up on guys that likely are going to be average at best...Quincy Carter, Phil Costa, Matt Johnson, Justin Beriault...the list goes on and on.

Yeah. That's unusual, now that you mention it. Wonder what really went on there. It'd be nice if he were really just being stand-up. Nice and surprising.

What I like about Risen assessments is that he is unemotional about the assessments. The church of Risen Star vibe going on in this thread creeps me out a bit, I must admit, but I will say that I agree here that Risen puts it out there and that he's unemotional about his assessments and that's a good thing. Not that anybody ever thought this particular player was an M5. The question was always whether he was a Honda Civic, or was he a unicycle with a flat tire. He was an old Honda Civic that you got from your uncle at a really good price when you couldn't afford anything nicer.

It's the borderline cases where you're going to get actual debate. Only a few lunatics ever had an issue with Demarcus Ware (sorry, guys, if you're in that category. But sometimes it just is what it is). The guys who are just good enough to start, or only good enough to start in a pinch are the fun ones to debate. Especially if there are plays like there were with Costa or Terrence Newman where they player gets embarrassed on the field. Those tend to draw the lightening.

Don't know what you're talking about, but I always knew Justin Beriault was gonna be a beast....until he wasn't. lol

Yep, me too...and that is pretty much how I viewed Costa. The used Civic is going to be there and does the job fairly well....but maybe the ride isn't great and the acceleration isn't the best. I felt Costa could make it to average....but for injuries I think he would have been there in 2012 an if everything went well could maybe be slightly above. He did some things well. Others not so well. Looking at centers across the league, there are a lot of Phil Costas out there starting.

I think you need to go back and read his assessment and posts again. It's virtually impossible to give an assessment without emotion (human nature) The guy is full of emotion and is vocal about his stances/views. Just because you agree with his assessments doesn't mean they are accurate or right. Those stances and views are predicated off an emotion. He also shows the need to be right and point it out for everyone to see so he gets a pat on the back (even though he is wrong here) That is emotion.

I see zero balance in his assessments outside of the draft stuff. Why? Because
Not a single player is a Cowboy yet there is no emotional investment to be made But someone who routinely says they don't get emotionally invested yet all they do is comment on everything they don't like is doing exactly what they say they aren't. That is being emotional.

Heck who can argue with a guy whose name is Mclovin. Every time I see your name I just chuckle because the role was perfect in Superbad. Now go buy some beer!

the Ford Pinto is a better analogy.

it's extremely ugly. some fans argued if it would crash and burn, others felt it was a serviceable vehicle and it ultimately made a few million dollars before leaving the market.

Quincy was released by the Jets.

Costa retired from the Colts.

Not exactly the same thing.

Yes, Phil Costa retired from the league in his 20s because he had an abundance of talent and a bright future in the NFL.

Say it with me, Mike. "I was wrong."

You'll be wrong again too. Just as soon as the team is.

Speaking of the pinto I was watching something a week or 2 ago maybe Jon Stewart? He made a joke that the Pinto was built so the gremlin didn't feel like a loner or something. It was funny I got a chuckle out of it.

LOL. A car you just don't see much anymore yet oddly enough yesterday I saw one with a small hood scoop and a fin on the back. LOL.

Did it have exhaust? I bet it runs in the low 20's in the 1/4 mile lol

Don't Know. If he did, I did not hear it over mine.

However I did wonder if the kid thought it was cool or knew it was a beater. At that age I am thinking he thought it was cool.

I'm sorry but this post is full of nonsense and garbage. I would expect better of you. The only person who is showing the ability to not think for themselves is you. You hang on every post by RS like is the gospal. You my friend are the definition of what you are complaining about.

P.S. You gotta a little brown spot on your nose you might want to wipe that off.

Haha. I am not as big of buddies with Risen as you think, but he seems to be the poster boy for us so called realist. I will defend him due to one reason.... He is usually a year ahead of most posters and the team on the direction this team needs to go. If the sunshine homer crowd treated you like they do Risen, I would defend you. Risen doesn't need me defending him, that is for sure. It his his opinions that I defend. They just happen to be similar to mine.he is not the only one. He is just the most unpopular one. The funny thing about it is that more and more posters are opening their eyes and starting to agree with him. Look at the number of likes he receives. This really eats away at certain posters on this board and it is entertaining to listen to their whines about how this board has went down. This board now reflects the fanbase much better than any time in years past. This team is not all peaches and cream as this board has represented in the past.

Pretty sure he'd still be playing if he was still engaged to Brooke. It's only been about 5 months since they broke up. His mind has been off the game and my guess is he is physically not up to the task because he has let his conditioning go. It could be worse than that (drugs, etc.) Just speculation but he is walking away from a lot of money here, so something has ruined his mindset and that's probably what it is.
