Second post in a row that I really like your thinking. Picking up a quality corner in free agency and then moving Henry to FS and Hamlin to SS seems like a really good idea.

But is the CB to FS transition a realistic one? Does anyone know of players that have done that or something similar in the NFL?

Rod Woodson had no problems doing it

I wouldn't mind Roy Williams to replace TO, but now isn't the time for that. I guess... looking back, TO could be considered a burner and Roy Williams the possession wr, but I don't know. I think JJones would jump at him if he is truly interested in coming back to Texas.

Roy Williams IS interested in coming to Texas. It is his home-town, and he always talks about Texas.

Players gone:

Adams
Akin Ayodele
Glenn
Ferguson
Nate Jones
Julius Jones
Reeves

Resigned:
Hamlin

Draft additions:
2 CB
2 RB
1 WR
1 ILB
2 OL

FA Additions:
1 WR
1 Corner (not a high priced guy)

Contract Extensions:
Newman

You folks that think we're going to dump Roy are downright goofy. Not that he doesn't deserve to be dumped but he fact is we can't afford to "eat" almost $7 mil in cap space by either trading or cutting him.

Your starting safeties in 2008:

Roy Williams and Ken Hamlin... get use to it.

I agree with everything you said except Ferguson.

We suffered down the stretch without Ferguson in the middle. Our little 300 pounders couldn't control the run, we either need Ferguson, or a huge replacement.

Those other guys are pass rushers exclusively.

I think a Special Teams coach is a must. Those teams are just depressing (except for individual performers of kicker and punter).

Your exactly right..... This team has no swagger and no heart.

They play with no intensity and there 'stars' express about as much emotion of Bill Belicheck after a big play.

Absolutely.
I am amazed that the GROZ crowd seems to be so happy with Stewart.
This defense has taken a step back and "great" additions such as tank and henry have not worked out.
Further, Stewart's biggest failing was not seeming to know how to adjust during game situations.
Teams alternated slicing us up with the run and then through the mid-range passing game. That is why God invented halftime, to adjust, and that is why he also invented the 7-day week: to give coordinators time to adjust to what the offenses were doing to Stewart's defense.

But, going back to my original point, I never saw a GROS movement. Wait. I guess they were blinded by our winning record and an offense that largely carried the team during 3/4 of the season.

Yeah, trade Roy and take a big, heaping $7,000,000 chunk out of our 2008 cap.

We may go deeper than that, but that is a good starting point.
