im not going to worry if either Dunbar or Tanner or cut, we ve always had these type of guys. Some just cant always do it when it counts. we took the chance on randle so i want him on the team. The other guys can fight it out but not at the cost of other team members who may be more vital.

If I need a 3rd and 1 and Murray is not available then Tanner is my guy, not Randle and not Dunbar. So you either keep 4 or Dunbar is on the bubble if it were me.

The scouts reportedly love Randle, and he did look good. I agree that he's got the best shot to make the team. I happen to like the statement of cutting the higher pick if a lower-regarded player jumps up and takes the job away. Tanner looked better last night than he did at any point last year. If he can keep up that level of play, I'd love to see the guy rewarded for it.

I thought Randle looked the best out of all of them last night. There were a couple of times where the coverage was blown and multiple defenders were in the backfield and he still go away from them and turned it into something positive. He looked like he had more speed & vision than Tanner and Dunbar as well.

Tanner looked like he did as a rookie. For whatever reason last year he did not run with the same drive. He is making it hard for the coaches.

As much as we may like Dunbar, he isn't really ever going to be a full time back and his limitations as a blocker are legitimate, much like Beasley's. He probably does have the change of pace back job locked up though.

It probably is Tanner vs Randle. I don't see anything that Randle is better at than Tanner at the moment, but maybe he is a better pass catcher. Tanner is just as good a runner and is good as a blocking back. Tanner doesn't have PS eligibility and Randle does. Will be interesting to watch the matchup.

i would too but can Tanner do it in teh season? So far hes shown a reason to be here, but if Randle comes on, i cant justify keeping Tanner if he cant do it all year. If Randle comes in and shows he can do it, runs just as good and gets the yardage, you have to churn the runners. It sucks but you have to do it.

He is nowhere near being faster than Dunbar and probably is similar in that regard to Tanner. Tanner is good in pass protection, Randle is supposed to be a good pass catcher.

Randle is the rookie, we know what Tanner can already do.

Yeah, I tie's going to go to the rookie, and it should. Randle should get better with reps, too. I still thought Tanner outplayed him last night. Tanner was one of the better performances on the whole field, though. He's also reportedly better in pass protection, so Randle's got a ways to go.

And it's not unheard of that they keep four backs. I'm sure they don't want to, but it's an option if they really like all four.

“It started in the offseason training, through OTA’s, and camp, and I’m just trying to keep it going,” Tanner said. “Coach Gary Brown has been in my ear, he’s helping me out tremendously. The offensive line, they make it a lot easier for me also.”

Posting the little tidbit about the OL, too. It's pretty much obligatory to praise your line, but it sounds a bit like the changes we're making there have been effective for the backs in camp...

They for sure could keep four. If Tanner can make some strides on ST's then it would be really hard to cut him.

I just want to see more of all of them. I was impressed the most with Randle last night though.

I am not so sure this is accurate. I mean, it was only a pre-season game and we really need to keep that in mind but, the Tanner I saw last night was not the same Tanner I saw last year. He looked more powerful to me.

he does that in preseason and TC. Its in hte season we dont know who he is and we still dont. So if its a toss up, sorry i have to take the chance on randle.

I've watched him play and what he did last night was not what I have seen in the past, in pre season or during the season IMO. Of course, all backs look better in Pre Season then they do in the Regular Season. That goes with out saying but the reality is, at least for me, while Randle did look good, he's not ready IMO. He runs way too high, he takes way too many shots. He gives the defense way too much of his body. Murray does a lot of the same things but he's stronger and bigger. Even at that, Murray is on the shelf by mid season or sooner if we go by what we've seen in the past. Randle, has some promise but he's not ready to be the carry the load back, based on what I saw last night.

There is still time but I think what Randle needs, you can't gain in Pre Season. He needs to learn how to run in the NFL. He needs an entire off season to get stronger. In two years, he might be something. JMO

Randle looked like where he is on the depth chart. #4 Dunbar and Tanner both looked way better. Randle is just getting going though. He hasn't been practicing hard yet b/c of injury. He may get his legs back soon. I want to see Randle in a Goal line situation. It is obvious he was drafted b/c of his end zone nose. 40 tds in college in 3 yrs

With Murray's injury history and how banged up RB's get in general, I think we will stash four.

I also think that the only way tanner makes the team is if someone get hurt. dunbar looks bigger then last year and can catch out of backfield better then tanner. the way the offense is setup now with two tightends the rbs are going to have a chance to catch more passes. I noticed the passing routes were shorter then last year. tanner has not looked that great at catching. I see only three rbs making the team. we will keep four tightends instead of the usual three.
