There ya go..

Yup, kick offs and if Folk has happen to him what Matt McBriar had happen to him last year. We lose Folk for the season and no more 40-50 yarders to win games the 2-3 times we seem to try to pull it off a season.

Not saying it's the best pick but this is most likely the rational behind the pick.

It would be awesome if he could be the third TE and handle kickoffs as well.

I would say the same thing. It's an easy solution to a simple problem.

Jerry Jones, what a MORON!!!

If this MORON took Mason Crosby a couple of years ago, we wouldn't be drafting another kicker

Do you watch the Cowboys very often?

according to draftcountdown.com:

Notes:
Uncle, George Buehler, was a offensive guard for the Oakland Raiders (1969-78) and Cleveland Browns (1978-79)...Father, John, was a 3-year letterman (1969-71) on Southern Cal's track team as a shot putter...Another uncle, Charles, lettered in football at Stanford for 3 years (1960-62)...Transfer from Santa Ana Junior College...Mainly a kickoff specialist in 2006 but he also worked at fullback and safety (didn't see action)...Took over the starting kicker job in 2007 and 2008...Was named 1st Team All-Pac-10 as a senior...Never attempted a 50+ yarder with the Trojans...Possesses intriguing physical tools and certainly showed a lot of potential as a placekicker but his best chance to make a roster will be as a kickoff specialist...Is a draftable prospect.

He's going to not only kick off, but beat everyone else down and blow up the returner. A one man gang!

Dude............your taking this too hard. Not going to make or break our season. You remind me of me when I was a young buck thinking every thing revolved around a 5th round pick except when I was that crazy the draft was 12 rounds. lol

I'm 21 lol..I'm tired of the Cowboys losing!! Picking a kicker in the 5th when we already have one of the best in the game is not going to help! At least take an actual football player..your giving yourself ZERO chance of that player becoming anything.

With his size (6'1", 225lbs.) wouldn't he be a better fit at FB/HB?

This was a brilliant selection.

This guy will be playing every Sunday for your Cowboys....he's got the strongest leg in football. He's going to be a kickoff specialist and long FG guy.

Almost 55% of his kickoffs were touchbacks, most of them out of the endzone. That's one reason the USC defense was soo darn good. The other team often started at the 20 or worse.

Late 5th round pick, this is better than any ST guy you could find. He has hit 60+ yard fg's, but he's inconsistent.

Why not dress him each week. We did it with Stanback for years and got absolute zip. We lost tons of field position over the past 2-3 years. Its not a sexy part of the game stats but maybe the most critical.

kid better be a touchback machine.

Apparently that's what he is.

I'm actually fascinated by this pick. This guy is 6'2" 227, runs a 4.6 and rep 25 times at the combine. He has played SS and FB previously.

Ok this pick just puts the cherry on top of just how garbage this draft is.
That is more than a little over the top.

I guess we're serious about improving our special teams. Field position is huge. If he doesn't make the team, so be it. Doesn't hurt to bring a guy in to see what he can do.

I'm laughing, I really am. I was the same way when I was 21, I really can't tell you when it ends. I guess it's like a bad hangover, it just goes away when it goes away. lol

6'2'' 227 lbs, 27 reps on bench, he's a lb after he kicks off the ball. Didn't you get the memo we are upgrading st's?:lmao:

That's one more guy to make the tackle...;)
