Pickens' agents want to start contract talks at the combine

 What do you mean? Not to put words in your mouth but are you comparing this to Parsons? Contract negotiations are not uncommon at all during the combines. In fact, they are expected.........lots of them.

Parsons' negotiation and trade have some of us whiplashed ...........:lmao2:
850 NFLPA registered agents descend on the combine seeking clients. The agents are in cutthroat mode. Highly competitive. It would be prudent to have player contracts done before the combine. Nothing good can come out of letting Mulugheta show off his association with a high profile client like Pickens.

I feel like people dont realize how little draft capital this team has.

Unless they plan on spending on QUALITY FA to fill holes this off season. They need 2 years to re infuse talent on the defense.

Signing another WR for 100 plus million makes 0 sense.
Depends how one looks at what they could do in the draft, if it falls that way.
Several different ways to look at this. And as we know fans will have many different opinions. And it will end up completely something different. Like picking lottery numbers.

One thing we can all agree on, how they attack FA is a big factor.
Your scenario is right, that they need 2 years to bring in talent.

However, if it is going to take 2 years. Then 1 impact player will not fix this defense this year. Unless Parker and his scheme and new coaches are so great they surprise us all.
So do they go for that impact player and another very solid player, that can turn into an impact player.
Or trade down the 20th pick, and get 1 impact player, and 2 or 3 solid players that can turn into very good starters.

IMO if an impact player is not there at 12, then trade down, same for 20th pick. Pick up a 2nd and 3rd. Maybe anther 4th or 5th.
Get 4 solid defensive players, and will all contribute, and at least 2 be starters, and the other 2 can eventually become starters. Then use 2027 picks to continue that plan.

The defense can completely be overhauled in 2 years.
I think it can be done and to keep Pickens. As Dak needs those type of players. And in 2 years, in 2028, use the 1st round for a QB.

But but... JJ already has talked with Pickens and has the deal done. No agent needed.

iu
Ah the picture that got him shuffled out of town

Love seeing some fans meltdowns so soon. Oh, wait, it is 24/7/365.
:hammer:So easily gaslit and triggered by stories and now we have nine open George Pickens threads, isn't that nice,

I think the media, the content creators, and a lot of fans, they live for this stuff, they act like they hate the drama, but they want the drama, they need the drama, they need Jerry on that wall...LOL

There are people above that say they only do contract negotiations a week before the season starts and yet so many are done long before, that Yes there has been a few that have gotten to that point but 75 percent of all contracts are done very early, on a normal schedule, it's just some of the ones that have agents and players up for really huge contracts that are playing hardball of course they're going to drag out both sides were at fault last year with the Parsons issues..

Not sticking up for Jerry but I'm betting and this is a wild guess he's been involved in at least 1000 contact negotiations since 1989, he's probably spoken to almost all the agents personally, maybe 99%, and yet they can find what 6-7 since 1989 that they say is normal, that this stuff happens ,when it's not normal, it is actually the anomaly.

In fact,

the Parsons deal, is the only drafted superstar that the Cowboys didn't retain, and that went to the levels that it did, the only one,

a lot of players hold out in all major professional sports and especially the NFL, we see the threats all the time, the posturing, There are some that that's what it takes to get a deal done, it's not all on Jerry...

I like the strategy but I dont trust Pickens. And thats a personal thing.

Id rather use him and speed up the defensive side of the ball getting better.

What I really wanted to do was build around Parsons years ago when Travis Jones and those guys were in the mix.

Instead, we got what we got.

If they can get 2-3 picks for Pickens. I do it in a heartbeat. As we saw this season, having that high powered offense didnt help us win games.

Mulugheta has his knives all sharpened....just waiting to evicerate and skewer the right GM.

This is understandable. But I can see both sides to keeping him and getting picks for him though.

Yes, keeping Parsons and building around him would have been an option. However, if he got a similar contract to what he got from GB. Rebuilding the defense would not be possible as it is now, IMO anyway. As I think, 1 impact player, if Parsons was to be that player, would not help this defense.

I tend to disagree, though I know what you are saying. I think if the defense was not as injured, and played better in 2 or 3 games, and helped win them instead of giving them away. We could have made the playoffs and even competed for the NFCE. Though injuries are not an end all excuse most of the time.

I'm not I was simply stating what was put on the website:mad::mad::mad::mad:
Just because something is posted online doesn’t mean the Cowboys started it.

All season we’ve known which players were fined and which weren’t.

In this case, there’s nothing showing it came from the team—this is just fans or content creators posting stuff for clicks. I could post the same thing, and people could share it all day, but that doesn’t make it official from the Cowboys’ front office.

There’s been nothing from either side except George Pickens’ camp saying they wanted to start this at the combine. Other than that, no official word from the team. This is just gaslighting—trying to make people think it came from Jerry or the Cowboys’ official channels.

There’s no press release, no official statement, just recycled info everyone already knows about fines and sideline time. The Cowboys don’t need to push this. It’s just rumor-based, troll-driven content from people looking to take advantage of the fact that Pickens is big Cowboys news right now.

I mean is it me or is this the first time you've been on the Internet ?? you know how many AI driven or troll driven fake news channels there are on the Internet right now especially using the Dallas Cowboys to create clicks like stories the Dallas Cowboys is the biggest story creating team in sports.

Oh, Jerry in his circus. On the wheel that spins him around while Mulugheta throws knives. Awesome.
Fans and media want in on this. :muttley:

I bet someone could make a good meme of that. :lmao:

has nothing to do with you, not sure why you always have to stick your nose in things that don't pertain to you!!!

Right.
Repeat something often and loud enough. Others will follow along with the crowd mentality effect. Kind of like a hysteria.

And I've got nothing against the player and his agent for getting every dime they can......I just believe that Pick is a loose cannon with immense talent and a shelf life to his good behavior here.

Rent......just dont buy

When it was time to extend Parsons the going rate was $34M. The agent says they approached Jerry and he said no at the time. So your boy was asleep at the wheel on that one.

Right.

Right,

i'm not even sticking up for Jerry..

it's just a fact there are so many fake Dallas Cowboy websites on Facebook, Twitter, and everywhere else on the Internet, and now the AI got involved, It's even worse,

I mean there's hardly any actual real ones.

How some of the real news from content creators on Twitter or Facebook that have been at least real have turned over a lot of their content to make sure it stays fresh every day to AI, and the stuff that gets posted is insane.

Anything to drive clicks but I'm betting the cowboys are one of the biggest names in content creation for clickbait even for non sports channels they're always looking for that hot sports opinion that spread around even if it's rumor and fake.

I mean, it's crazy, I'm sure I'm not the only one who sees it, there's so many fake trolling channels all over the Internet, some of them are honest about it ,No it's a troll post ,when people are reading some of them don't realize they're reading fake news, rumor mills.

I don't do face book, instagram, tik tock, or any of those social media time wasters.
Only see what is posted here from them. Or if a friend texts me a link.

Put the non exclusive on him. Let someone give him an offer. We dont like it. Take the picks.

If we built the defense around Parsons with the draft in not one but two of the deepest defensive drafts, keeping him would have been much easier. When he said he didnt want to be the highest paid people forget the added part to what he said "if it means bringing in talent". His attitude changed when Jerry brought in nobodies.

Losing Hooker, Bland, and anyone isn't why the defense sucked. Having a great offense and no defense doesn't get you anywhere in this league. Look at the Rams playoff game, look at the Packers playoff game, look at the San Fran games. I use these because they are games (minus GB) where the D held their own but the O didn't show up. If you have a good/great defense, your offense having a bad night doesn't mean you lose automatically, if you have a mediocre defense, even a great offense cant make it happen in the playoffs.

Combine is when contracts are made, especially the unrestricted free agents. It’s why we see layers signed at the start of fa
A very foreign concept for the Dallas Cowboys organization and their fan base.
