Nice touch in supporting Breast Cancer Awareness month.

(This was taken from another forum and I don't have a link.)

With October here, it’s the start of Breast Cancer Awareness month. And no one places a bigger emphasis on it than Cowboys linebacker Bradie James.

We’ve seen pink ribbon pins and pink towels being worn before, but James is taking it to another level, starting this week in Denver.

James will be sporting some new pink cleats, sent by Reebok specifically for this month. Also, Jason Witten, DeMarcus Ware and Jay Ratliff will also receive pink cleats and are expected to wear them at some point this month.

But it will be James donning the pinks on Sunday.

James lost his mother, Etta, to a battle with breast cancer back in 2001. He has three different programs under the umbrella of Foundation56, which James launched in 2007

cue the "there's no pink in football" bull****

nice gesture

I used to be anti-pink anything when I was younger, but I am confident in my manhood enough to wear pink shirts occasionally. Well, on days my wife tells me to. :D

Real men can pull it off;)

It is a nice gesture.

I actually liked the pink bats in MLB. The NFL will do something more i assume.

Anything for a good cause works for me. My Mom battled that and thank God and the foundations for her surviving it.

Great article. Thanks for the share.

This info was posted in the Daily Zone, but I'm a big fan of this effort, as I lost my mom to breast cancer in 1986. What ever you may feel about his on the field performance, there's no denying Bradie James' character.

Really? I missed it. Anyway, sorry to hear about your mom. Cancer is a terrible disease. I watched my dad die from lung and bladder cancer.

I'm sure most have seen this but..

ditto Dude. But the trade off with my girlfriend is she has to wear her French Maid costume when I ask her too.

Should have painted the goal posts and pylons pink too.

Might as well go all out.

The real question is, if Ware breaks out with 3 sacks this week, does he wear the pink cleats all season? He wore torn jersey last year for good luck as well.

Maybe not but it helps with the fund raising efforts.

There are a lot of events for Breast Cancer in particular. Carnival Cruise Lines has an "On Deck for the Cure" event on their ships where people can pledge to the cause, get a T-shirt and go for a walk on deck. Up here, we have rodeo events where we have a day where the guys wear pink Weestern Shirts and bandanas that say "Tough Enough to Wear Pink". The events have been so successful, that other Cancer causes have complained that Breast Cancer is getting far more money than their cancer events. Frankly, I'm just glad it's happening.
