Pittdawg - any minicamp tidbits?

i wish i had something substancial to report. rob and i have talked everyday after practice, but it has been mainly about how he is doing and what he needs to continue to do. he is thrilled how all his hard work is paying off in improved on field performance. no question, the work with juraszek has improved speed, agility, strength and positioning in pass sets.

a couple of observations. first, he thinks TO will be a good teammate and playmaker. second, his says the offense hasn't changed, but the approach apparently will be different, something the fans should like.

Thanks Pittdwag. It has been great to hear how well your son has progressed. I am really hoping that he takes all his hard work and translates it into a great season. Like someone said, if/when Rob blossoms, the OL will be that much better for years to come. I, for one, am rooting for him!!!

It's also good to hear that the offense will have a new approach. Sounds like they might be passing a little more this year.

And thanks again for giving us at the zone a little inside info!

It may not be a lot of info, but I am glad Rob is feeling good about his performance. I hope his confidence is up and that he remains injury free throughout the season. Has he said if Fabini is still recovering from his injury last year, and maybe that is why the reports coming from mini-camp have been less then stellar?

rob and i have made it a point not to discuss his fellings about other players eventhough they are almost 100 % positive. as far as fabini, rob knows he has his hands full and will have to be at his v ery best.

Didn't know Rob's dad posted here...that's kind of cool.

--------

I hope Rob is our future RT bec. he is young and now has some experience. Furthermore, we got him with our 6th rounder...meaning, we didn't have to tie up a high pick at RT...that would be nice.

Glad to hear he went to work hard in the offseason.

Hopefully that translates onto the field and he wins the starting job.

Good Policy on not talking about other players.

Rob is young and coming into his own on the team, no need for something to be said and get twisted around to become some internet rumor of a he said/she said situation.

On a side note.

For a little extra motivation.

Tell rob there is a guy on the message boards that thinks he is big and sexy, that thinks robs eyes are dreamy, that would love to run his fingers through robs hair.
That wishes that rob played center and he would play QB.

Tell him that if he does not do good this year you will give the guy that thinks all of things on the message board, well you will give him rob's home address.

Of course none of that is true but...That should give him a little more motivation to do well. :laugh1: :lmao2:

i think rob is self motivated, but if he did need one i would suggest an hour in the back room of one of your famous dance palors.

Pittdawg, let Rob know, if you can I really look forward to his 1st game against the Giants and seeing him shut down Strahan. I have a real good feeling about your kid this year.

As someone who has been very critical of Petitti, I am very glad to hear about the improvement. I hope he makes me eat my words! Someone had to remind me that he played a good portion of the season with a spained ankle, which explains why he didn't always move as well as you would like. If he can become a quality starter, with Fabini backing up both tackle spots, our weakness turns into a strength. I am also hoping to see something from Colombo. The competition will make all of them better.

No No No that would get him in trouble. Stay away from those places, have him talk to Keith Davis about what those places can do to you. :laugh1:

You weren't supposed to tell anyone about Jukes fantasy

i know they're all off limits. one of the first thinks they told the rookies last year. only giving a hypothetical.

Pittdawg,

Thanks for the great information. I hope that you will post often about Rob's progress during training camp. I am hoping that Rob will win the starting RT job and do a great job this season. He is obviously one of the keys to the Cowboys having either a great or sub-par season.

I think all of last year's draft class took the offseason weight conditioning program to heart and worked their butts off & then some. I've heard/read good things about every one of them increasing their strength, bulk, etc. Understand also that Colombo worked out as extensively as Pettiti & is in excellent shape. Only exception is probably Burnett whose on-going rehab from his knee injury probably prevented him from participation in some aspects of the program.

I'm hoping this year's draft class paid attention to how strong & physically fit last year's class is and will themselves do as much as they can to get in top physical condition between now and TC & beyond so they can be ready for the regular season.

Let's hope Rob can turn out as half as good as another rookie O lineman who suffered and played through an ankle injury back in '94. :)

PittDawg...

Notice how I am ignoring the two clowns named BrainPaint and Yeager...

Now on to a very serious question.

Rob, even at 335 lbs...is still afraid of....his mom, right?

:)

i'm not sure afraid is the right word, but he makes sure not to get her attention because the nagging would be neverending.

Very good policy --Tell him to just keep working his butt off and let everyone else take care of their on business. Is his ankle doing Ok?
