Plan B at RB

I am beginning to think, this is the only thing that makes sense?

I dont think we get Hardy.

Were going to have to Pay AP, but i think JJ will do it.....Were going to pay him more then Murray. Or right about the same...Maybe we can get some relief on the back end of the contract and in guaranteed money?? Because he is older then Murray.....

I really, really hope that is the case. And I still want to draft a back, 2-4th rounds....

How does it make sense? We don't freakin' own the rights to AP, you understand this, don't you?

And what about this terrible defense? some of you guys just don't get it. the cowboys are not a championship with this defense.

That's the kind of thinking that caused us to pass over Lesean McCoy. Take the best player available and you can't go wrong. If Gurley's the highest rated player when our pick comes up, we should sprint to the podium with his card. The guy has unreal talent, and if we have to redshirt him during the start of the season, I'm still for it. The guy does everything Murray can do, except better, stronger, faster, and with better vision.

See, this is the kind of utter nonsense that I'm talking about. Give up desperately needed draft picks to trade up for a completely unproven RB coming off a torn ACL, when we had the NUMBER ONE RB in the league and what should have been a clear defensive focus in the draft. What the heck kind of sense does that make?!

It's a process..

Yeah? Its pretty clear though, that he wants out of Minn?? He doesnt want to play for Minn..... So he isnt going too.....

Minnesota can trade him anywhere they want to. And now we've exposed ourselves to having to give up picks in a trade. This is the dumbest of the dumb moves this organization has made.

If it was me i may sign Ridley or Spillar at no more than 2-3 million a year, and draft a RB 3rd round or later, we need to get 2 starters on defense in this draft period.

Draft Gurley or Gordon in round 1 and they will rush for at least 1300 yards behind this o line. Mark my words.

draft Gurley or Gordon if there. One of them should be there.

IF both are available who would you draft and why,

They are saying Gurley has close to AP type talent but he is coming off a torn ACL. IF he is there at 27 do you take him?

Jay Novacek.

Curious if anybody gets the reference.

If Gurley is there then take him in the 1st round. If not then best defensive player available and then go RB in round 2 or even 3.

Give me Todd Gurley preferably and Melvin Gordon if he's no longer available.

If Gurley were to need additional rehab time early-on, Ryan Williams can fill in.

I don't think DeMarco was ever plan A. Cowboys front office doesn't seem to care and that has to be killing Murray inside, at least until he cashes that first bonus check. Well played by the Boys as it is a clear case of who made who.

I dont like it either. I think we have taken a step back. I am trying to make sense of it. There has to be something going on. I can only assume, they think Romos window is longer then 1-3 years......

or they think a Rookie carrying the load next year is going to take us to the SB?

I think they are wrong on both accounts.

So I am wondering what is their plan? Are they really going to do nothing, and let the rookie or some low level back carry the load? really?

I have to think there is something else going on. We were really close to a SB last year, and Romos time is dwindling quickly. I cant imagine Romo is happy going into a new season with a rookie back there.....

Absolutely correct on all counts. It's absolutely insane.

Sorry, but 8 million for a RB after 400 carries is not even close to feasible. You are just a huge Murray fan. Let it go. Hes gone. Move on and support your team, if not, well i cant help ya. Maybe Chip can ;)

Correction: Plan A

If Gurley wasn't coming off a torn ACL, I would for sure take him first round. But now I think it's debatable and you can't go wrong with him or Gordon. It'll just come down to who they have higher on their draft board. I think the draft will be a failure if you don't end up with either Gurley, Gordon, Ajayi, or Coleman.

If Gurley wasn't hurt, he'd be a top 10 pick. no question. The only reason he MIGHT be available at 27 and a close call to gordon is because of his ACL.

And what about this terrible defense? some of you guys just don't get it. the cowboys are not a championship with this defense.

Because a last first round DL is going to be impactful immediately and turn this defense into a world force? There have been plenty of articles about impact of DL and where they are selected. end of the first is not one of those places. I agree we need to build the DL and defense but we can do some of the impact from FA and then build depth that will start to be productive in two years.

If Gurley is there, you grab him. Difference maker, saved money, physical back with break away speed... Guy can elude you or run over you, rare talent, I like this pick hoping injuries are done, guy is a NFL style running back and a good fit for the Cowboys. Love the direction of this team, don't want to overpay for an RB and will sorely miss Demarco. This is business, give me a FA DE like Hardy and draft Gurley and I am good with the FO decisions on this. Long time for the off season, I have complete faith in this org. at this point, we will see. BYW I believe Gordon will not be able to take an NFL pounding...Draft Gurley or get AP on a real deal>>>>>>>>>
