.

Probably best for Rush to be awful, then they play Trey.
The roster here will have around him will all but guarantee this result.

I can respect and understand some fans here that didn't want to see the roster for what it is before the season, but we are now crashing and burning halfway through the season and they STILL don't get it. ( not addressing you on that)

I'm flabbergasted

I think Rush will earn a top 5 pick. This isn't the same team he put a win streak together with a couple of years ago.

I agree with you, but we also traded a 4th for Lance. So, it's only logical that we should see what we have in him at this point. Otherwise, what was the point in trading for him a year ago?

Rush has played Philly and has experience against them. Also, a win keeps them in it. If Dallas loses the next couple, then roll with Lance. I would start him now but that isn’t what they are thinking.

I understand that it's not what they're thinking, but we could've used a running back in the pick we used for Lance. Jerry gave up a 4th round pick for him. So, I think we need to see if it was a good idea. This is a golden opportunity to find out.

Counterpoint, the Panthers won yesterday.

We currently have the 11th pick. We need to try to get a top 5 pick. So, winning games this season shouldn't be the priority. We should be trying to go 4-13 at this point. If we can get a top 5 pick, that opens up trade downs for future firsts as well as this year's first round. It opens up a world of possibilities. So, why not throw Lance in there, see what he can do? If we lose, great, we improve our draft position.
I don't disagree, actually.

Yep. A forward thinking staff would play Lance and implement a little different style offense that used Lances running ability. Something no teams would be prepared for.
But our scared staff will go with Rush, who will look better because he reads the field better, but will ultimately come up short due to physical ability.

We know what we have in Rush. The season is pretty much a wrap after yesterday, and Dak is hurt. To me, the most logical thing to do is to put Dak on season ending IR (let him reboot next in season), and let's see what Lance can do. At this point, let's sort through our roster and see what we have. Save our starters that are hurt until next year, and let's see if we can get a good evaluation of what we have. That starts with Lance. Let's see if he's any good.
Agree.

it might happen soon.

Rush isn’t the future.

They need to play him now. However delusional Jerry will think they still have a shot at the playoffs.
And mathematically they do. Realistically they don’t.
Because he believes as long as they are not eliminated, that Dak will return and lead them into the playoffs.

I usually do not count any team out of they are at 3-7.
In 1990, Dallas was 3-7, and won 4 straight and only needed 1 win to make the playoffs. Then Aikman got hurt. They lost the last 2 games. We do not have Troy Aikman, even with a healthy Dak. Nor do we have an Emmitt.

He traded for Trey, and now is the time to validate that trade. Otherwise it was a wasted trade in hindsight.
Dallas still could have made the playoffs had the Rams beaten the Saints on the last Monday night game of the season.

I don't think they'll do that. Rush could play himself out of the starting position. They won't do what you suggest. Lance is off the team next year, so what's the point? If he plays great, we can't trade him. We can't sign him.

Yes. And for a moment they did. saints missed the FG, but Rams were offsides. And they kicked again and made it.

The other thing, was Aikman would have been back for the playoffs. And would have played an injured Bears team.

Or it might make Jerry look even worse :muttley:

Exactly, and we get a chance to see what we got for a 4th round pick. What's there to lose at this point?

That would have been the first 7-9 team to make the playoffs. That was also the first year they added a 6th playoff team. Stating, it wasn't so a 7-9 team can make the playoffs. Now they couldn't care less.

If the Cowboys were smart they would play for the picks but Jerry is running a circus so I expect them to give up a 3rd round pick for a running back or wide receiver.

Exactly, and we should be trying to offload players to add more talent in the draft.

Because if he plays well, he might sign for a better deal with another team. That means a higher comp pick for us.

Play Trey Lance for what? What do the Cowboys get out of it? Lance is going to be a free agent by season's end, so how does playing him now help the Cowboys?

Nobody is trading for Lance this year before the trade deadline approaches soon. Teams will rather wait it out and approach Trey Lance on the free agent market.

They should start Rush. He knows the offense and despite what the DLS think is capable of winning games.
ALSO, they should incorporate a package of plays for Lance. He gives a dimension to an offense that desperately needs an additional weapon.
Rush ain’t winning anything.

I'm assuming Lamb is out? We're not beating anyone no matter who is at QB.
