Baylor center in town
Baylor center J.D. Walton, who played at Allen, grew up going to Cowboys' games at Texas Stadium. one of the thrills of his career at Baylor was playing in Cowboys Stadium last year. Walton would love to play for the team he grew up rooting for, but he probably is too good for the Cowboys to have a shot at him.

Walton, the third-best center in the 2010 class, is expected to be drafted by the third round. The Cowboys have Andre Gurode at center and other more pressing needs to worry about in the early rounds of the draft.

"It was very exciting," Walton said in a phone interview. "I've been a Dallas fan ever since I was a little kid, so to get to go and meet the coaches and experience it was a blast."

Walton, who is 6-3, 300 pounds, ran a 5.19 in the 40 at the combine. He also did 24 reps in the 225-pound bench press, and he had a 27-inch vertical. In nine of 12 games last season, Walton earned a coach's grade of 90 percent or better with no grade lower than 86 percent. He had 36 consecutive starts after arriving in Waco as a transfer from Arizona State.

Walton had individual workouts for the Broncos and the Falcons in Waco.

"By far this is the hardest part, the sitting around and waiting," Walton said. "I'm anxious. I want to know where I'm going to spend the next part of my life."

We have to make sure we save this thread after the draft for future reference. So that we can kind of get a picture of how we'll draft again in '11.

This one was rather sneaky for some reason. He went to Southlake Carroll but was not on any of the lists sent out earlier in the week.

I'll add one of WG's finds. :)

Coppell's Daniel Raudabaugh also took part in Dallas Day

Add another to the list of locals on hand for the Dallas Day workout on Monday: Miami University quarterback Daniel Raudabaugh.

The Coppell grad was the only quarterback on hand for the workout. He grew up less than a mile from Valley Ranch, so clearly he was a Cowboys fan.

Hey SDogo, i didnt see you add this player mentioned earlier

To add some to this thread, I read an article by one of the Dallas Mediots-- it might have been Watkins, or Hill-- who said the Boys had shown interest in three receivers, two of whom we already know about (Brandon LaFell and Dez Bryant)... the third was Arrelious Benn...

Also, the Boys had a contingent at the North Texas Pro Day, reportedly scouting kicker Garrett Lindholm... Lindholm has kicked a 64 yarder in the playoffs against Texas A&M-Kingsville, and on the day of the tryout hit 3 of 4 from 60, with the wind... against the wind, his longest was 42...

Don't know how strong the wind was, but we all know the wind can howl pretty good in that neck of the woods in the early spring...

Lindholm is 5-10, 190 pounds, and went to Tarleton State... he was 15 of 18 on his field goal attempts in 2009, and 22 of his 77 kickoffs went for touchbacks... he also had a 55 yard game winner as time expired against Midwestern State...

If he goes undrafted, as I suspect he will, he might be somebody the Boys would look to bring in to compete with Hughes and Buehler...

By my count, that makes 42 players that we know the Boys have shown some level of interest in... I'd suggest that checking out this particular forum can give a fan a fair idea of the team's approach to this draft...

Hey CJ, kickers don't count. ;)

Hey arch, i just saw this again on tfydraft.com

One team seemingly likely to pull the trigger on a player at the position in the second frame is the Dallas Cowboys.

The team has met extensively with several potential second round receivers including Arrelious Benn of Illinois, Brandon LaFell of LSU and Ohio’s Taylor Price. In fact Jerry Jones personally met with Price on his recent visit to the Cowboys facility and spent extensive time with him.

Price is moving up draft boards and has likely cemented himself as a second round pick. Besides visiting the Cowboys, the speedy wide out has worked out with the Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars, Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks.

One receiver that’s gotten a lot of press as he moves in the other direction is Dez Bryant. We are aware of two teams who have removed the Oklahoma State junior from their draft board and several think Bryant could make a Devin Thomas like drop on draft day.

According to the National Football Post, Dallas is one team that shown interest in Louisiana-Monroe's DE/OLB Aaron Morgan.

Morgan is a sleeper who's gaining some buzz in NFL scouting circles. Monroe He is a 'tweener outside linebacker-defensive end who was named first-team All-Sun Belt Conference.

And his impressive workout numbers stack up favorably with many of the top defensive end-linebacker draft prospects. The 6-foot-4, 242-pounder has run between 4.68 and 4.72 seconds in the past. He bench presses 375 pounds.

Another good find by WG.....

Just CHILL: Former Trinity Trojan star Dimitri Nance was also one of the Dallas Day visitors

Clarence Hill

Arizona State running back Dimitri Nance was among the more than 30 locals who participated in the Dallas Day workout on Monday at the Cowboys' Valley Ranch training complex.

Nance attended Trinity High School and was the star of the Trojans first state title team before taking his act to Arizona State.

He didn't have the career he hoped with the Sun Devils, rushing for 1,938 yards and 19 touchdowns in four years. But he did have a solid senior season. He gained 795 yards on the ground and scored six touchdowns while catching 28 passes for 216 yards. He was named honorable mention All-Pac 10.

The 5-foot-10, 218-pounder ran the 40-yard dash in 4.58 seconds and bench pressed 225 pounds 21 times during his Pro Day workout.

He is considered to be a late round prospect but his stock is starting to rise. It is believed his powerful inside running style is more suited to the pro game.

Nance has visits coming up the next two weeks with the Chiefs and Chargers.

Although he would love to play for his hometown Cowboys, Nance said he just wants the opportunity to continue playing football.

In Dallas last Monday, Nance said he participated in the running back drills along with SMU running back Shawnbry McNeal. He chose not to run the 40, deciding to standby his time from Pro Day.

He caught passes during the drills from former Coppell quarteraback Daniel Raudabaugh, who played in college at Miami University (Oh). Raudabaugh was only quarterback invited to Dallas Day.
