The Ohio wideout is headed to Dallas for a two-day visit.

Joe Fortenbaugh

March 29, 2010

Ohio wide receiver Taylor Price will meet with the Dallas Cowboys on a two-day visit beginning Tuesday, according to a league source.

The senior wideout caught 56 passes for 784 yards and five touchdowns for the 9-5 Bobcats in 2009. In four years at Ohio, Price hauled in 149 passes for 2,019 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Price has been a busy man as of late, having already worked out for the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots. His 4.41 40-yard-dash at last month’s combine was the second-fastest time among the wide receivers that ran in Indianapolis (Clemson’s Jacoby Ford ran a 4.28).

Currently the NFP’s 17th ranked wide receiver prospect, Price is a sound route runner who displays good balance down the field.

we can add ghee and m burnett to your list as well.

great job in continuing to add to it, by the way! very much appreciated.

On Monday we had a list of several players coming through Valley Ranch this week for visits, and you can add Cal defensive lineman Tyson Alualu.

If you look at the YouTube video, you'll see him play all three spots along the defensive line. Pretty impressive, but there's a reason why it's called a highlight video. You don't want to get too carried away.

Maybe you're wondering why the Cowboys would look at a defensive linemen given the current makeup of the roster. Well, Marcus Spears, Jason Hatcher and Stephen Bowen could all be unrestricted free agents in 2011 depending on the collective bargaining agreement.

Alualu would bring depth and versatility to the group if he can play either end spot and nose tackle. On a couple of those plays from the nose, he displayed some Jay Ratliff quickness at the snap.

Some of the draft gurus see him as a late first-round, early second round pick.

Draft Scout Duke Calhoun News
03/28/10 - For a group of Memphis Tigers football players, pro day proved to be an extension of their senior seasons. Curtis Steele, DajLeon Farr, T.J. Pitts and Carlos Singleton on Friday had highlight moments, but were unable to finish the nearly three-hour workout for 15 pro scouts. Steele and Singleton suffered hamstring injuries. Farr and Pitts pulled groin muscles. One Tiger, though, receiver Duke Calhoun, made it through the workout without incident. Calhoun, the school's career receiving leader, ran a 4.4 40-yard dash, impressed in pass-catching drills and earned an invitation from the Seattle Seahawks to visit early next month. In addition to Seattle, Calhoun has a visit set next month with the Minnesota Vikings. - AP Sports

03/26/10 - PRO DAY RESULTS: Get to know the name Duke Calhoun. The wide receiver from Memphis is generating a buzz. Former Cowboys quarterback Jerry Rhome called about a month ago to give me a heads up on Calhoun’s ability, and he worked out very well at Memphis’ pro day on Friday. Calhoun (6-foot-2 1/8, 195 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.50 and 4.49 seconds, had a 35-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot, 4-inch broad jump, a 4.50-second short shuttle, a 6.75-second three-cone drill and did 12 bench press repetitions at 225 pounds. He really helped himself and should be a middle-to-late round pick. Bengals receivers coach Mike Sheppard was there to work him out. The fact he was in a rotation at Memphis hindered his production in college. – Gil Brandt, NFL.com

12/09/09 - 2009 ALL-CONFERENCE USA SECOND TEAM (COACHES): WR- Duke Calhoun, Sr., Memphis, has been selected Second Team All-Conference USA for the 2009 college football season as voted on by the Conference USA head coaches. Calhoun was selected by the Tiger coaching staff as the 2009 Most Valuable Player after logging 923 yards and five touchdowns on 68 receptions. The 923 yards was a season-high mark for the four-year letterwinner, who ranks third nationally having caught at least one pass in 49 consecutive games. He registered five or more catches in seven games this season, including an 11-reception effort versus Southern Miss. He tallied three straight 100-yard games versus UT Martin, Marshall and UCF, and holds the school record with 10 games over the century mark. Calhoun also holds school records with 2,981 yards and 212 receptions. - Memphis football

10/27/09 - SCOUTING THE OFFENSE: Receivers Duke Calhoun and Carlos Singleton are the country's third most prolific scoring tandem with 40 combined touchdown catches. The offensive line has allowed just seven sacks, which ranks second in C-USA and 16th nationally. Memphis has lost only four fumbles this year, two on punt returns and two by quarterbacks. PLAYERS TO WATCH: WR Duke Calhoun - The senior has caught at least one pass in 44 consecutive games and is ranked sixth among all active FBS receivers with 2,724 career receiving yards. He ranks third in East Carolina history with 19 career touchdown catches.

10/09/09 - SCOUTING THE OFFENSE: The Tigers rank 29th nationally and second in C-USA in sacks allowed (six) so far this year, extending a trend that saw them finish in the Top 10 in the country three times since 2005. Another trend is ball security. From 2004-09, Memphis backs have only lost seven fumbles in 1,888 carries. PLAYERS TO WATCH: WR Duke Calhoun - The senior ranks sixth among all active FBS receivers with 2,615 yards after posting three consecutive 100-yard games. He is tied for third in Memphis history with 17 touchdown receptions and has caught at least one pass in 42 consecutive games.

Draft Scout Carlos Singleton News
12/09/09 - 2009 ALL-CONFERENCE USA HONORABLE MENTION (COACHES): WR- Carlos Singleton, Sr., Memphis, has been selected All-Conference USA Honorable Mention for the 2009 college football season as voted on by the Conference USA head coaches. - Memphis football

10/09/09 - Memphis owns a 44-29-1 all-time record in homecoming games, including a 3-5 record under head coach Tommy West. WR Carlos Singleton needs 11 catches and 87 yards to move into second place in both career categories for the Tigers behind teammate Duke Calhoun.

09/24/09 - Everything head coach Tommy West and his staff have been preaching since the spring finally crystallized in the second quarter of last week's win against Tennessee-Martin. The offense exploded for 199 yards and 24 points and the defense limited the Skyhawks to 37 yards on 18 snaps during that 15-minute stretch en route to a convincing 41-14 win. "We did some good things offensively which excited all of us," West said. "We had been a very unproductive offensive team and they gave us some things in the passing game that we were able to take advantage of them. We got the ball to our playmakers and they were able to make plays." Duke Calhoun caught nine passes for 174 yards and a touchdown and Carlos Singleton added two touchdown receptions. In his first start, Tyler Bass passed for 293 yards and four scores and rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown. "We have really good players to get the ball to and it didn't work (in the first two games)," West said. "I am excited now that we can get back on track. If (the offense) gets back on track, we will play better on defense because we won't be out there on the field all the time." The Tigers (1-2) try to maintain their newfound momentum Saturday at home against Marshall (2-1) in the Conference USA opener for both teams. "They are really big up front on offense and defense. Both of their lines are big," West said. "I think we know each other. They know us and we know them. As far as what is going to happen in the game, it depends whose people can execute."

09/24/09 - Memphis is 9-4 (.692) in Conference USA home openers, including a 5-3 record under head coach Tommy West. This is the Tigers' latest league opener since 2001 (Sept. 29). Memphis has a 4-0 record in games played on Sept. 26. WR Carlos Singleton needs 30 yards to become the fourth receiver in Memphis history to hit the 2,000-yard plateau. It is his 41st career game and he would be the third-fastest to reach that milestone after Duke Calhoun (35) and Damien Dodson (39).

09/22/09 - With the victory against Tennessee-Martin, head coach Tommy West improved to 9-0 against FCS programs since taking over the Memphis program in 2001. Memphis is 34-19-9 all-time vs. Ohio Valley Conference opponents. Senior WR Duke Calhoun extended his streak to 40 consecutive games with a reception, the third-longest active streak in the nation. Senior WR Carlos Singleton recorded his 20th and 21st career touchdown catches to break the Memphis record of 19 set by Tavares Gideon. He had a 19-yard score in the second quarter and a 21-yarder in the third for his fifth career multiple-touchdown contest.

Eleven players are here at Valley Ranch this morning, part of a two-day process where nearly 20 draft prospects will visit with coaches and scouts.

Among this first group is Idaho guard Mike Iupati, who has shot up the boards on mock drafts everywhere. It appears now that he is a certain first-round pick, and he might be long gone before the Cowboys get on the clock at No. 27.

Iupati worked some at left tackle at the Senior Bowl, and that versatility is what has teams so high on him.

Other players here today include Indiana (Pa.) defensive back Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, Illinois receiver Arrelious Benn, Ohio receiver Taylor Price, Umass offensive lineman Vladimir Ducasse, Penn State linebackers Sean Lee and Navarro Bowman, Cal defensive end Tyson Alualu, Georgia Tech safety Morgan Burnett, LSU safety Chad Jones and Wake Forest defensive back Brandon Ghee.

we seem to be looking at a lot of fringe 1st rounders and 2nd rounders. Trading down could be a realistic option.

Feels like were in a weird no mans land.

Some of our favorite prospects could go by 24.

Then theres another group that goes like 45 deep. Including Mccourty, Ducasse, Saffold, Nate Allen and Golden Tate.

27 is a weird spot and I think we might be moving out of it

Remember this........

I cant agree more. It's exactly how I feel every time I take a look at this draft.

Ok, no more agreeing.;)

What I thinks gonna happen is were gonna try somewhat hard to move up and get Mike Iupati, or somewhat less realistically Earl Thomas. Dangling a 4th, Martellus, and/or Carpenter. If they fail they will try and fall back a little and pick up one of the guys I mentioned. Mccourty, Ducasse, Saffold, Nate Allen and Golden Tate in the 40-45 range while picking up an extra 3rd.

So instead of:

1st round: 27th
2nd round: 59th (27th in round)
3rd round: 90th (27th in round)
4th round: 125th (27th in round)
6th round: 196th (27th in round)
7th round: 234th (27th in round)

They then get:

2nd round: 40th (2nd round)
2nd round: 59th (27th in round)
3rd round: 67
3rd round: 90th (27th in round)
4th round: 125th (27th in round)
6th round: 196th (27th in round)
7th round: 234th (27th in round)

I dont think they will trade up for Dez. In fact if hes there they may be so bowled over by a trade proposal from one of the crappy teams (picking 33-40) who are desperate for talent that they make that deal. Tampa at #10 comes to mind

Hopefully they use the extra ammo to move back up in certain areas. Dont miss out on AOA, Spikes, JD Walton etc. just to hold onto a 6th round pick that would get cut b/c hes Eric Olsen and he sucks

Man I cant believe we havent interviewed Anthony Davis. Dont tell me this guys off our board. Wheres our fudging due dillegence here? Dez Bryants got way worse intangibles and is not a linemen

“Questioning my love for football, that’s a joke to me,” said Davis. “I don’t even want to talk about that.”

Davis is kind of an enigma,” Brandt said. “He could go as high as eight or nine or he could slip down to the 20s. He’s got potential, though. There’s no question about that.”

I’m not just saying it because it’s me, I watch film, too,” Davis told The Star-Ledger. “If I felt it was somebody else, I would say it was him. But just watching the film, I think it’s like hands-down that I’m the best tackle in the country. I don’t think I’m wrong for saying it because I truly believe it.”

Prior to the NFL Combine in February, many NFL scouts felt the same way, giving the athletically gifted Davis the nod over Bryan Bulaga (Iowa), Bruce Campbell (Maryland), Vladimir Ducasse (Massachusetts) and Russell Okung (Oklahoma State).
