I was a lineman, we're a bit sensitive. Lol!
Me too! I cried every time that I pulled and pancaked a LB. it was so emotional. It brought out feelings that I didn’t know I had. I went to see a therapist about the long term emotional effects that playing had on me , but it drove her crazy and she is in treatment now.

Fair warning heeded, but I'm still seeing no changes to how my local Whataburger operates. I saw that someone in Chicago purchase the business from the Dobson family in Texas but the Dobson's still have a small stake in the company. I suspect they are overseeing quality control to ensure the business does not stray from their established business model.
My understanding is the merger was to broaden the Whataburger brand throughout the country and abroad.

It’s been challenged in recent years by national chains like Five Guys and In and Out which personally I believe are better burgers.

Whataburger always had a solid product but over rated all too often. It was just the best here in Texas of the fast food outlets. That’s changed now. And had nothing to do with the sellout.

I keep hearing mixed reviews but I think a lot of is mental.

They’re still on my banned list every since the A-1 fiasco, I miss the late night bfast coming back from concerts or what not extremely inebriated so In ‘N Out gets my money. I know, it’s blasphemy but so is how they did away with the A-1 with no warning, not once but twice, and then sold out. Perhaps it was my scathing email to their corporate office before the sell out that caused them to actually sell. Hmmmmm....
That A-1 burger is still brought back to the menu periodically. Whataburger isn't the only restaurant that does this. McDonalds does it with the McRib. Are they on your banned list too?

I know Whataburger advertised the A-1 burger would be gone forever after a certain date but they must have changed their mind because it's back. Give it a shot.

If that were true in the NFL then teams wouldn’t be able to cut players who were under contract.

NFL contracts contain options for the team to continue the player from year to year. The terms of the contract are not being broken if a team decides to not exercise the option i.e. cut the player.

It's essentially no different than having a buyers option on a house or piece of real estate.

People have different motivations and money is just one of them but to downgrade someone that has a different motivation than we have is short sighted. The ego is a complicated part of it and that comes into play in pro sports a lot where ego strength drives confidence.

I've worked with hundreds of salespeople over years and the tricky part was finding that motivation factor and feeding to that.
My uncle sold many of his life insurance policies to Athletes as he was a former Athlete himself and had these traits as well. The most obvious characteristics were Ego and invincibility. Which were qualities not liabilities that drove them to their success.

Those who are not as driven and dedicated to their craft often view them as arrogant and cocky, perhaps self serving but they don’t wait for opportunity to knock..they go and get it , often taking it competitively from others.

Yea, unfortunately the NFL is a sports entertainment league which consist of football teams but winning isn’t the top priority . Making money is. It’s a business first not just a game.

I mean that is life in general. How many people at their own jobs are going to take a lot less money for the better of the company and they see the owner and top people bringing in tons of money? Very, very little. These owners try and sell this whole team stuff and winning rings while they rake in tons of money every year no matter what. Are they lowering prices on merchandise or tickets? Absolutely not. Are the owners taking revenue cuts to pump the salary cap up a lot so these players can get what they want? Absolutely not. So why should the players?

No, what pissed me off is they first rolled it out years ago, it was great. Then they did away with it for several years, I was disappointed but it was forgivable. Then they made a big hoopla about how they were bringing back all the “classics” for good. I couldn’t have been more excited!

So for what seems like several years I gave Whataburger my business on every late night drunken excursion I had. I never even thought of cheating on them. My typical order was the A-1, a Justaburger and several breakfast items usually totaling in the mid $20 range.

But then.....then they decide they are doing away with it and once again make a big deal of it but at least I was given notification. I even went out of my way (sober mind you) a couple times to get the A-1 and celebrate it in all it’s glory. I figured maybe they got cross ways with A-1 or something because there’s no good reason to get rid of one of their most popular burgers.

Fast forward another ~2 years and they, once again, are bringing it back. This time it’s even more over the top with billboards, radio, etc. I couldn’t wait and got it the first day it was available. Fast forward another year or two, my wife is driving and I’m sloppy in the passenger seat at about midnight just craving an A-1 after a concert. We roll up, I place my huge order and throw in the A-1 at the end only to be told they didn’t have it. I was shocked and po’d, figured they ran out of sauce so I asked “so you mean you ran out of sauce”? and the lady said “no, we’re not carrying it anymore”.

No warning, no good bye, no nothing. Jerks just pulled it from the menu like it was never there. I was so po’d, I told my wife to just drive away. I went to bed starving but at least I saved a few thousand calories. So that’s when I had enough and banned them until they brought it back.

Well, they brought it back about a year ago with little notice this time. Had it a couple times. So the last time I knew I was going to a concert I called the local store the day before just to make sure they still had it since I hadn’t been in a few months. The lady said “we may have it tomorrow if we still have the sauce”. I’m like ***?! So I ask “are you running out of sauce”? she said “no, once it’s gone we won’t be serving the burger anymore”.

Again, no warning, no nothing. Anyways, to make a long story longer. I called on the way back from the concert and sure enough they had run out so off to In N Out it was. Screw them, I may be done permanently with their shady crap, plus add in the fact that they’re not really “Texas” anymore so they can take that A-1 next time it comes out and shove it up their keister.

Yes, Whataburger > In and Out burger. :D
Quality of In N Out burgers and toppings is better. Whataburger has more on the menu. You also have to ask In N Out to do their fries extra crispy unless you like soggy fries.

Most fans seem to think that a Zeke like holdout will hurt his rep with his teammates. Not true. Most stud players, which is just about every pro player, have egos the size of Texas. They ALL want to get paid. Zeke's holdout might be hurting the fans, but fans will come crawling back as soon as he scores a TD. The team chemistry will only suffer if a teammate starts acting like a fan and not like a player.
I thought there was no I in TEAM, Coach. Or is that a bunch of bull my coaches tried to sell me?

Lol! There is no I in team, but there is ME.
I used to tell my players that the most important thing in team was "I". It all starts with the guy staring back at you in the mirror.

So they lied to me over a technicality (I/me)? All those years I believed them.... I feel so used.

If you don’t want him on our team, that’s fine but why shouldn’t he receive what the top RB’s in the league are making ?

He’s pulling this stunt a season too soon. The Rams screwed everybody by giving Gurley waaaay too much.

Not hurting other players right now but by game 1, players like Witten, Tyron, Jaylon and Lee will be getting edgy. Maybe you were too busy coaching pee wee but back when Emmitt held out, after 2 games Charles Haley put his helmet through the wall and said sign him!
