Colt McCoy may be better than A. Smith, at least against us. The Giants are playing better and we face the Saints which is a guaranteed loss. Basically, anything could happen, but to say the rest of the season is set up for us is a bit of a stretch at this point. Who knows what will happen? Jerry is going to give Garrett every possible excuse. Swaim is out might be enough.

Now that the NFC East is set up for the taking, if Dallas somehow misses the playoffs, I'd say certainly Jones will fire Jason Garrett. There really is no excuse the Cowboys not to make the playoffs given how many injuries the Commanders and Eagles are facing. Those games and the Giants game, at the last week of the season, are all games any marginally decent coach can take care of. If Garrett fails, I see Jones bringing in a new coaching staff for the 2019 season.

Should be a win-win scenario for fans down this 6 game stretch. Either get into the playoffs and the team gets a chance to make a memorable run or miss and Garrett is gone.
So what if the Commanders lose to Dallas and win every remaining game? There's a good excuse.

That is possible. Good point.

Just seems extremely unlikely. 3 of their final 5 games take place on the road

Accountability.

That's all we're asking for.

What if they make the playoffs because the kicker of a tanking Giants team shanks a 20 yard field goal as time expires? It’s kind of silly to make decisions based on a singular outcome.
Agreed, especially if we get in at, say, 8-8 b/c the division is so bad.

Even if Dallas gets in at 9-7 and loses a home playoff game, I think JG's out.

I would agree here and I have pretty much been saying it all along. If this team gives up on Garrett and ends up in 8-8 purgatory again while missing the playoffs, Jerry will finally pink slip him.

Disclaimer: I called the Dez firing before it happened and I believe this proclamation will keep that streak alive.

Full disclosure:

I have been consistent with referencing a "deep playoff run" or bust for clapper but I will concede that he is now down to just making the playoffs. The variables were eased when we beat the Iggles in filthy. That victory brought a bit of a sparkle back to Jerry's eye.

I’d say it doesn’t matter, gone no matter what. Playoffs lose first round then what? Just let him go at the end of the season unless we get a new ring; otherwise we’ll be here next year again.

It could happen, it should happen, but it won't.

Jerry had many excuses regardless what happens back in the off season.
And many more reasons have been added since then.

Garrett is not going anywhere. Both Garrett and Dak will be here for the 2019 season.
Now Linehan may be gone, and used as another reason. But nothing else will change, unless Rod retires.

I so hope linehan is gone. Garrett has about as much control on offense as he does defense, he's really just the puppet jerry wants while the coordinators are the real coaches in charge of their piece of the pie.

I think Linehan is out regardless of what happens short of going to the Superbowl.

Garrett is definitely gone if we don't make the playoffs.

A football miracle has happened the past couple of weeks and somehow we have a shot at the division and it's even easier because the Commanders lost their starting QB.

There is no excuse for Dallas to not win this division. If they don't then not even the Jones's can make an excuse to keep Garrett.

The Eagles and Commanders are done. The Giants appear to have some life, and I'm always worried when they get a little momentum. I believe Wk 17 against the Giants will probably be for the division.

If we make the playoffs (and JJ's line of answering questions minus the slobbering):

Garrett stays ('He rallied the team and drove wins we needed it.')
Linehan goes ('We felt that we needed to go another direction with our weapons.')
Richard promoted to DC ('Kris is an exciting and passionate guy and we're thrilled to have him.')
Marinelli moves to position coach ('This was always our plan and why we brought Kris aboard.')

If we don't make the playoffs:

Garrett and Linehan gone ('We haven't achieved the level of success that the Dallas Cowboys stand for.')
Richard promoted to DC ('We're very excited about how Kris has our young guys playing.')
Marinelli moves to position coach ('This was always our plan and why we brought Kris aboard.')

lol I hope the Giants keep winning. Get far away from that #1 pick.

Giants are done.

Eagles can't lose another game.

Commanders vs Cowboys basically decides the division. If Washington wins I think they can hold on and take the division.

9-7 wins this division. Possibly 8-8

Seems like we hear this every year a couple thousand times. But yet....Garrett remains!

I wouldn't write off the skins just yet. I know they lost their starting QB but so did the Eagles last year and that turned out pretty good for them. I think we will win the East though as we are just better than the other 3 teams but until I see how the skins play moving forward, I am not ready to say they will fall apart.

Watch Dallas beat the Saints then lay an egg at home to Tampa and miss out on the playoffs.

Total Garrett move.
