The same way I like my tires at 37 front 33 rear, that's where I like them, but I cannot tell u when they are at 34 and 30.

no, its different if your holding a ball thats already pretty light up in one hand than you sitting in a seat of a couple thousand pound vehicle off by 3 psi.

patriots should loose more than draft picks and a stupid fine. I mean come on this is there second time getting caught. Suspend bill from the superbowl and all next year while he is still be counted as a coach on the staff but cannot have any and i mean any interaction with the team.

benefit of playing in a lousy division and conference.

put them in the NFC and watch them not amount to jack.

The nfc was a joke for much of their reign. Of course their division has been weak the whole time too except for some surges from the jets.

Agree that the ball is pretty light, changing the psi would not affect the lightness of the ball in any significant manner, it would affect how soft or how hard the ball is. Weight of the ball does not come into play

He said in his presser that he likes a ball at exactly 12.5 pounds and that is "the perfect ball" for him.

He then says he never noticed the game balls being 15% lighter than regulation.

These two comments don't make sense. If you cannot tell if a ball is inflated to 13 pounds or if it is at 11 pounds, how the hell do you know you like a ball at 12.5? I mean, he said in his presser that he cant tell the difference between an 11 pound ball and a 13 pound ball, so how does he know that he likes a ball a "exactly 12.5 pounds" as he was quoted as saying several times?

Your honor, the witness is contradicting himself.

He said once the game started, he did't notice a difference between the 1st half and the second half balls.....during a cold and rainy game....with gloves on.
He definitely did not say he normally cannot tell the difference between 11 and 13 LB psi...you said that.
I'm not saying what he said is true or not, but what you said was not the same thing.

I've travelled a spectrum of emotions about this fiasco. I've read most of the articles and seen all the pressers. I've come to the point that I think this whole thing was blown out of proportion, that there is a league issue with not properly checking the balls before kick-off, and that is where the problem is. Guys like Brady and Rogers may try to get balls through out of the prescribed range, but there is really not much to make of that other than wondering why the limits are so tight in the first place, and why the league is not enforcing them with a gauge prior to kick-off if the rule is such a big deal.

I don't really care about the whole ordeal, but watching the press conference it was clear he was lying.

Voice cracking, stumbling over his words...sounded like he was going to cry at times.

Draft pick is meaningless
If they knowingly did this then BB and Brady should be banned from the SB

That would be the only fair way
They took away the opportunity of going to the SB unfairly so it should be taken away from them

That's not going to happen.

This is where I'm at on this. If it's such a huge deal, then don't let the teams have anything to do with the footballs. Have NFL people there just to handle that stuff. Like you pointed out, I'm sure every QB has some preference on how they would like the football to feel and equipment guys probably try and tailor to that. If that means deflating the ball a bit lower than the rule allows, I doubt it's considered a huge deal. The fact that this came out during Super Bowl week just makes it a much bigger issue than it probably should be.

Just fine them or whatever and be done with it.

Especially when most the quarterbacks I heard talk about this issue say they work their footballs until they get them just right - whatever that means.

Anyone who has ever played football at any level be it in school or just around the neighborhood, knows a deflated ball is much easier to throw and catch. It feels good catching one of those. Even if it's rifled in. Easier for the QB to grip and throw. Easier to hang onto and grip for the RBs. Especially in the rain. He knew exactly what was going on. They were all in on it..

Quarterbacks might work the balls before the games as in maybe scuffing the balls up a bit. They might get a feel for it and press the ball into the ground perhaps like kickers do before they kickoff. Throw the ball and get a feel for it. But to deflate it, after the NFL officials inspected it before the game, to the levels that Brady and the Patriots did is called cheating and it should be considered as such by the league.

We are not talking about just breaking the ball in here, which I'm sure all teams and quarterbacks do. Someone probably took a needle to the ball and deflated it to Brady's liking and there has been accusations about this from the Colts months ago. The Ravens also have made accusations against them about this. The NFL has rules as to what the ball is supposed to be inflated to and these balls fell well short of the ranges that were allowed in the rules. You can't automatically say that this is a league wide phenomenon. If it were, this issue would have already reared it's head with multiple teams and would have been dealt with by now.

How many other teams have accusations of doing this against them? None!

The Patriots have disgraced the game and this isn't the first time. Unfortunately, we still have many people that try and justify it and that's exactly why they'll get away with crap like this.

Read what Troy Aikman thinks about this. He pretty much hits the nail on the head.

Some of this stuff has legs of its own.
I keep hearing people say the Colts linebacker who intercepted Brady noticed the ball was a bit deflated.
That's not at true.
He's said repeatedly he has no idea where this came from and he didn't notice anything.
He did give the ball to one of the equipment managers to save for him as a keepsake, so maybe that's the guy who noticed.
