but then Jr takes over and who's to say things will change? He probably thinks just like daddy.

When Jr takes over he could set up his legacy for life if he hires a GM/Personnel man/"real football man." If that was his first move upon taking over, for most fans, it wouldn't matter what he did after that.

You may be right.

I'd be a lot more hopeful with Garrett gone and I'm starting to worry Kiffin will still be here as well. However there are 2 things that give me hope.

We are keeping the same offensive nucleus and even with all of the Romo back worry I think he is actually going to be healthier gong into next season. The early surgery and no longer having to "hide" the issues means he can get the problem corrected and likely healed by the start of the season. I just have a feeling he was dealing with something the whole year.

Also, our offensive line went from being our worst unit to being one of our best in one season. With the dline being the primary focus this offseason it's not unreasonable to think the same could happen again. A good dline and our defense would have looked a lot better and we'd still be playing. Even one or two studs can make the guys next to them look a lot better.

Sorry the hope train left town long ago.

The owner is in complete control and admitted the head coach doesn't know what he is doing, he called him in training, which is as bizarre a thing that this maniac has ever said.

The family that owns this team is fat and happy. There is absolutely no reason for them to do anything different. Their offseason task is to sell their incompetence, not fix it.

This
Unless we get true difference makers at both coordinator positions, we are in real trouble

Little reason for optimism, 2 HUGE reasons for pessimism are Jerry and Jason

These are essentially 2 almost insurmountable reasons

Unless the OC and DC are playmakers then I'm not certain that will help.

Innovative thinking, discipline, and accountability would all be "difference -making" characteristics in our coaching staff

As long as we have Romo, there is hope. He masks a lot of our decencies on the field and even on the sidelines (coaching).

Build the Dline on all four positions and we'll have a YOUNG defense to count on. We can't afford to neglect the Dline. I know Stephen said we need to address our front 7; we need to address the front four first.

Hope?

I hope Crawford, Bass and Brent come back and are productive players.

I hope Leary continues to improve and Bernadeau's 2nd half of the season wasn't a fluke.

I hope the team does not settle on Free. I hope they try to upgrade the position.

I hope Escobar gains 20 lbs and Wilcox loses 10 lbs. I hope both are not busts.

I hope our first 4 draft picks weigh a combined 1100 lbs minimum.

I hope Carr/Claiborne feel some guilt and realize the amount of resources this organization gave up for both of them.

I hope T-Will gets stronger and becomes best friends with the jugs machine.

Not sure Eagles, Chargers or Chiefs fans felt much "hope" last year. Whereas i'm sure the Commanders felt a lot of it.

This is the National Football League.

Enjoy the playoffs knowing that it could be us next year.

Enjoy the offseason. Go outside and do some things. Stay inside and do some things if you're in Minnesota and it's 60 below.

Just for the love of God don't sit around depressed.

If you need something specific....I heard that they implanted adamantium into Romo's back.

I can't even watch the playoffs when the Cowboys aren't in it. I watch the Superbowl for commercials only. Football is over for me once the Cowboys exit and it has been far too early under trainee Jason Garrett. I see little hope in a coach that cost us 2 - 4 games a season with terrible game management.

You think the team will bring Josh Brent back?

Tony Romo does not need unbreakable metal bones. Many of his teammates and he need Wolverine's healing factor instead. Miles Austin and Sean Lee could have used a double dose of it.

Then again, I do not know if even Logan's mutant ability could help Morris Claiborne at all...

Is it..is it...a ghost?

Good to see DE posting again.

All we needed was a field goal......Orton doesn't throw that INT and we drive down and kick a lousy field goal....

We would be playing right now.

Spread the blame around beyond just Kyle Orton. The Eagles took advantage of two turnovers and converted them into 10 points.

Quarterbacks are not paid to throw interceptions and incompletions. Likewise, running backs are not paid to fumble and receivers (especially future Hall of Famers) are paid to make difficult, but catchable passes. I blame DeMarco Murray and Jason Witten far more than Orton for the Philadelphia loss.

How sad is it that most people here look forward to a man's death in order for their football team to succeed...

I know there are posters out there who feel positive about the direction of our team.
I feel very bummed out by our future and don't feel good about it at all.
We have basicly treaded water for the last 3 years, while out core of veteran players has aged.
Ware looks done
Witten is productive , yet slowing down
Romo is a huge question mark due to age and injury.
Jerry seems happy with the status quo.
Our cap situation is tight.
Garrett seems to have brought in a better culture, but has issues with game stratagy and clock management.
I still enjoy watching the games, but would like to feel hopeful about
the teams direction for the future.
Does anyone out there feel our arrow is pointing up ?
If so, please share the reasons for your optimism.

Thanks, John
