Please give me reason for hope

First and foremost, we have the offense to continue to be competitive.

As for the defense, look at what a 31st overall pick did to our Oline. A couple additions to the DL and a healthy Ware an d Crawford could make a huge difference.

There is that Crawford again.

There is that Crawford again.
If it's reasonable for a 2nd or 3rd in this draft to improve our line it's just as reasonable for Crawford to do so. He'll get significant playing time, good or bad. He looked like a better Jason Hatcher to me (compared to Hatcher at his age).

There is that Crawford again.

At least Matt Johnson is not the topic of safety greatness this offseason. The draft class with Mo, Crawford and Johnson received a ton of hype, but have provided little on the field. It is showing hints of being a very bad class. Not as bad as the 2009 class, but it is getting close if a couple of these players don't step up.

Thanks folks for all your insights, there are some positives as you good folks pointed out.

I'm sorry I have little to no hope. If Romo comes back 100%, which I believe he will, I will have a little hope as he's our only chance since our offense is outdated and sucks.

Outside of that we wait for our new HC. We need a countdown clock at the top of CZ with that countdown instead of the draft/training camp clock! :p

Please give me reason for hope

Jerry is over 70. Probably have maybe 10 years, 15 max, of him running the team. Even though Stephen will probably take it over at that point I don't think he will have the same ego and power-hungry drive Jerry has.

Even if Stephen takes on the GM role, I doubt he'll be getting his info outside the organization from idiots like Lacewell and Switzer. Also think Stephen would hire a quality HC and let the coach run the football aspects of the team like most normal teams. Doubt Stephen will be so egotistical as Jerry to hire just slightly empowered coordinators to be HC while he hires much of the staff or make game strategy demands of the coaches like Jerry has done.

So while I can't give you immediate hope for the near future, I think we are in the 4th quarter of Jerry being the hands on owner/gm of the team. Guess we just have to bide our time and wait for him to be gone from the organization. At that point, I think we will be able to have real hope again.

I know there are posters out there who feel positive about the direction of our team.
I feel very bummed out by our future and don't feel good about it at all.
We have basicly treaded water for the last 3 years, while out core of veteran players has aged.
Ware looks done
Witten is productive , yet slowing down
Romo is a huge question mark due to age and injury.
Jerry seems happy with the status quo.
Our cap situation is tight.
Garrett seems to have brought in a better culture, but has issues with game stratagy and clock management.
I still enjoy watching the games, but would like to feel hopeful about
the teams direction for the future.
Does anyone out there feel our arrow is pointing up ?
If so, please share the reasons for your optimism.

Thanks, John

If you needa reason maybe you shouldn't be here

I'm with you. The last several years I've thought we were about a 10-6 team. Not great, but a playoff worthy team who could make a little run if it got hot at the right time and got some breaks.

Now, I don't see a lot of hope. We shouldn't be a bad team, but I don't see things improving. We should have made hay the last few years when the division was down, and we didn't do it. It's like when your team is playing a favorite and the favorite is asleep for the first half and the breaks go your way, but you fail to take advantage and just kick field goals in the red zone. You usually end up losing that game.

That's how I feel this Cowboys team is going. Eventually this division is going to wake up and cycle back to strength and we're going to see what a missed opportunity these years were.

As WG said... Maybe the only real positive is that this could be JG's last year. Then we'd at least have a chance for something fresh. The trend in today's NFL is for the team to perk up its first year with a new head coach. Problem is, Romo's prime will about be over by the time Jerry wakes up and gets someone else in here.

Maybe moving on from Romo is a good thing.

Hope?

I hope Crawford, Bass and Brent come back and are productive players.

I hope Leary continues to improve and Bernadeau's 2nd half of the season wasn't a fluke.

I hope the team does not settle on Free. I hope they try to upgrade the position.

I hope Escobar gains 20 lbs and Wilcox loses 10 lbs. I hope both are not busts.

I hope our first 4 draft picks weigh a combined 1100 lbs minimum.

I hope Carr/Claiborne feel some guilt and realize the amount of resources this organization gave up for both of them.

I hope T-Will gets stronger and becomes best friends with the jugs machine.

Nice post, I share in your same hopes.
