Polian on Sirius Satellite Radio Yesterday

I agree that Romo is elite. I disagree that Elliot is in the discussion at No. 4.

I think you may, in the end, say you were wrong about that. According to Broaddus, there is much discussion going on at VR about
Elliot. The offensive coaches and some of the scouts are pushing hard for him to be the one according to Broaddus. There board will
not be final until the 18th or so of April but, Broaddus said that there will be a small war between the offense and defense concerning
the 1st pick. Elliot is definitely ranked right up there as a top choice in the 1st round. Garrett may well win out in the end...

Well, then go root for Carolina then. I am sure you will be welcome there with your man crush on Cam.
Oh, and Cam had Steve Smith for awhile, how did they do?

LOL, so I should go root for another team because I disagree with your stance that Cam isnt an elite QB?

Romo's performance over the years has clearly been that of an elite QB. Unfortunately the highly publicized "big game" losses and "late game failures" are all the majority of the "experts" lazily seem to consider. He just needs some postseason success to shift that mindset.

Cam is on the cusp of firmly being in that elite group. Supremely talented QB who appears to be coming into his own.

In my opinion its true.

More regular season wins
More passing tds
More rushing tds
Same amount of ints in more games
2 playoff wins
NFL MVP
OPOY

Im a big Romo fan btw, but I can admit when another player has had a better season than him.

Perhaps you should look at Romo's 2014 numbers, and don't give me the Murray crap, Tony made Murray not the other way around. Throw away that ridiculous call in GB and Tony gets a ring in 2014.

LOL, so I should go root for another team because I disagree with your stance that Cam isnt an elite QB?

What I think you are trying to say is Cam had an elite season. Is he elite yet, not really but could well be on his way if he keeps it up.

What I think you are trying to say is Cam had an elite season. Is he elite yet, not really but could well be on his way if he keeps it up.

No, I am saying hes an elite QB. I believe if you ask players in the league to name 5 QBs better than Cam Newton, they wouldnt be able to.

I hear what you're saying but it works both ways. Was Peyton Manning considered an elite QB last year? No, he wasnt because his abilities deteriorated to the point that he had to become a bus driver. Andrew Luck is constantly regarded as an elite QB, and how many elite seasons has he had?

Wasnt murray considered one of the elite RBs in 2014 when he had a breakout year?

What about Russel Wilson? He has been considered an elite QB by many after 2-3 seaons in the league.

Anyone who looks back on Manning's career will say he was an elite QB ... and that's where I think most of us differ from you.

It's much like you mentioned with Murray. He had a great year in 2014, but he's not an elite RB because he doesn't have the track record of an Emmitt Smith or an Adrian Peterson.

I think with Luck it's more projection than reality that he's considered elite at this point. I'm not sure if I consider Wilson elite yet, but it's hard to argue against a QB who has had a rating over more than 100 in three of his four seasons, with his lowest QB rating being 95.0.

You think just because you say that makes it true? Get the hell outta here, you're on crack. That isn't even remotely true.

Yeah, Tony has had a 90+ rating every year but one since he became a starter. Cam has had one in his 5 year career. Tony's career rating of 97.1 is close to Cam's best year of 99.4. Consider in this that Romo is over a 65% passer, with 7.9 ypa, while Cam is under 60% for 7.6 ypa. Romo is definitely elite. Cam has had one great year and has to put at least a couple exceptional years together to be elite.

Broaddus said the other day that there meetings wont start on the draft until april 11 th im sure there is still lots of discussion though.

All this back and forth over whether or not being great over time is a requirement for a player being 'elite.' Guess what? 'Elite' means different things to different people.

To the OP: as much as I'd hate, hate, hate RB at #4, there is something to be said for a safe pick. The more flaws we hear about the other players ranked that high, the better Elliott looks. I hate to think about whiffing on this pick if we have to make it.

Man, I hope they really like both these QBs.

I am not saying I advocate a RB at #4 overall, I am just saying Polian didn't seem to be just throwing stuff against the wall. The way he said it was pretty matter of fact, sort of like it was really a very easy call for the Cowboys to pick EE if they don't go QB.

No, he's not. He was lackluster before last season, and then he took advantage of a smothering defense and a relatively easy schedule a year ago. Then, he showed his true colors in the Super Bowl.

Watch this year. He'll revert back to his former self. Certainly not a bad quarterback, but hardly elite.

not sure what NFL you all watch, Cam is an elite QB and for the record he has had more than one good year. his first year he lit the NFL up. Drop off year two and three but year 4 and 5 he played well.

/agreed

If Kiper or someone else said this, I would take it with a grain of salt. This guy knows what he is talking about.

I have heard Gil Brandt talking about the possibility of taking Elliott as well. Now if Polian and Brandt can see why this picks makes sense if the QB Dallas wants is gone then I will listen to them. I realize everyone in here has an opinion but when guys who REALLY know what they are talking about sees the benefits of selecting a particular player, their opinions I will listen to. I may have my own thoughts, but will acknowledge their expertise. Forget the "you don't take a RB with the 4th pick" school of thought, I think ALL of us can envision Zeke behind our line and see how that would work.

45 TDS
15-1 record
Several 4th Quarter comebacks
NFC Champion

Once again, if he were a Cowboy, you are agreeing with me.

Cam had an Elite season, but it takes more than that to be considered elite. If he keeps that up going forward, then by all means, he's elite.
